Nature lover's paradise. Enjoy the peace, tranquility, and stunning water views of School House Cove in Beech HIll Pond, Otis, Maine. Get away from it all where the birds and wildlife get away from it all. See the ducks swim by while you have your morning coffee on the deck, and listen to the call of the loons while you relax in the screenhouse. Kayak, canoe or motor boat out to the main section or across the lake to the public beach. Prime fishing and boating on Beech Hill Pond. Located north of Ellsoworth, Maine and approximately 40 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
What a beautiful camp! It has everything you need to enjoy your week. I had a fantastic time catching pickerel and smallmouth bass. We saw beaver, Black and Mallard ducks with ducklings, loons, and great Blue Herons. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise and a perfectly calm lake just started my days off in the best possible way! It is so peaceful to go to sleep listening to the loons and breathing that fresh Maine air. This is one camp that has everything!
I was so impressed with all the newly furnished rooms and appliances. It made our stay so easy and pleasant.
Just thinking about this week we shared together, visiting friends, family, spending the day at Bar Harbor, brings back memories that will last a lifetime. We're both ready to go back!
Just came back from a week.. The house and property was the perfect week getaway. The house was absolutely beautiful, had everything imaginable, we did not need to bring a thing, the house had all the comforts of home plus more..the property was idyllic, the lake was crystal clear, Bar harbor & Acadia State park close by, such a wonderful place I would recommend this lovely home to everyone..
My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks here. In Maine every lake house is called a camp. For the life of me I couldn't bring myself to call Ellie's place anything but a home. Nothing is missing - all the creature comforts are included and so nicely done.
Then there's the property. Whether you prefer sun or shade there's a perfect spot for everyone. Absolutely beautiful, spacious and private. Plenty of room and the dock is the best place on earth to enjoy that morning coffee with the full length view of Beech Hill Pond.
Did I mention the sunrise? Well for a spectacular treat all one need do is open your eyes in the master bedroom every morning and it's there. A daily treat for yours truly (then the coffee on the dock in that order).
One more thing, I wish I had thought to bring a menu back to Ellie's place but there's a restaurant in Ellsworth called Helen's that serves up some of the best seafood we've ever had and it's frequented by a lot of locals and they should know.
Would we recommend Ellie's place to friends? We already have. Try it, you won't be sorry. Thanks Ellie!
We've just spent a week at Schoolhouse Cove and were delighted. The photos do not do the property justice. My 12-yr old dog was a puppy again, the fishing was great and Ellie goes out of her way to make your stay everything promised. The house is lovely, the location serene and private - and there are loons on the pond. 5 stars for everything!
Located on a quiet cove on gorgeous Beech Hill Pond, this two bedroom, two bathroom home was perfect for our family get away. This light and airy lakefront home was JUST renovated so it was sparkling clean and decorated simply, but with fine architectural touches and a blend of antiques and new décor. House had everything we needed – linens, grill, kitchen wares, microwave, lobster pots, and more – and stayed pleasantly cool downstairs even on the balmiest of days (making it a welcome haven from the mosquitos and the sun). Our two young kids loved the bedroom with twin beds and spent hours playing in the rustic, unattached screen house (perfect playhouse for a break from the sun or for passing the time on the occasional rainy afternoon). We enjoyed the spacious master bedroom and watching the sun come up over the water.
House, which boasts great waterviews, is on a big rustic plot of land so there is plenty of privacy. Enjoyed seeing sunrises (spectacular) and sunsets from the small dock on the property and lounging in the swing chair on the deck off of the kitchen and living areas. New small flatscreen television was installed just prior to our arrival and kids enjoyed watching movies in the knotty-pine paneled sun porch.
All in all, a really great place to spend a family holiday on the water and enjoying the best Maine has to offer- and it's pet friendly, and our black lab never left the lake!
