About Mark Kasiske
We fell in love with the Florida Keys back in the 1980's when we took our first trip there. We toured the Keys from the water in a catamaran. We bought our first place there shortly after. We love owning all these properties in the Keys because it gives us a reason to come down from Wisconsin a couple times a year. We are looking to retire to the Keys someday.
Mark Kasiske purchased this house in 2005
Why Mark Kasiske chose Marathon
We purchased two side by side 4 bedroom homes on the Gulf of Mexico with a beautiful view and room for us to bring family and friends.
What makes this house unique
These homes have 100' Docks and beautiful views. We have added swimming pools, kayaks and sandy shorelines.
Guestbook comments from the manager
We all had a really great time. There was myself, wife and 2 teenage sons, my friend, his wife, and his teenage son and daughter. The 4 bedroom house was plenty big enough for all of us. I think the open concept of the living room/dining room/kitchen really helped it NOT feel crowded. The kids loved the pool, the kayaks and fishing from the dock when they weren't playing video games. The wives enjoyed sunning on the beach and cooling off in the pool. Us guys were able to catch several types of fish from the dock including barracuda, nurse shark, a small tarpon, grunts, and a couple fish that we didn't know what they were. We seen an octopus 'walk' past the dock, and seen sting ray, crab, lobster and a manatee near the dock. Jim told us to hang a chum bag in the water from the dock and the fish would come to us. They really did. I recommend doing it when the tide is a little calmer for more success.
As far as sight seeing, the beaches (Sombrero Beach, Bahia Honda State Park, Coco Plum) are all great. The key Deer are everywhere at dusk in Big Pine near the 'No Name Pub' on 'No Name Key' and also on 'Key Deer Road' past 'The Blue Hole'. Key West's Mallory Square is also amazing the hour or so before sunset. The area at the waters edge looks totally abandoned during the day, but near sunset, it completely springs to life with performers doing incredible shows and vendors with unique items. After sunset, it dies as fast as it started. Duval Street is the place to be after that. Theater of the Sea in Islamorada, the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon and the Turtle Hospital in Marathon are all places to check out for a few hours to half a day each. For fishing, I recommend a day out with Diego Cordova (http://floridakeysflats.com/) or a half day out with Sea Dog Charters. Don't forget to feed the Tarpon at Robbies in Islamorada.
We spent about as much time out sightseeing as we spent at the house. It was a terrific time all around. Our only complaint was that we ran out of gas for the grill, but Jim had a new tank to us faster than we could have ordered pizza. We are coming back!!!
