Photos and Description of the Newcastle vacation cottage rental Two Bedrooms, Two Bathrooms; Sleeps 5

A refreshingly furnished, privately owned and managed cottage, Beckoning Bay offers the serenity of nature, water activities, and close access to Midcoast Maine charms. Its blend of casual and sophistication sets the mood for comfort in this cottage on three acres fronting The Great Salt Bay, Maine's first Marine Protected Area. You choose whether to relax and watch unspoiled nature or get closer on the water in the provided rowing dory, canoe and kayak. It's a private setting yet only a mile from the twin towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle with restaurants, shops and theater (live and cinema).

We Loved it Here

Sandy & Rodger New York City
Review Submitted: October 22, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We could not have been happier with this home. The pristine grounds, the view from every window, the fabulous porch, and the warm hospitality of the owners made this a wonderful vacation for us. The house was very well maintained, in a great location, and the attential to detail was right on. The artfully placed antiques, the collection of books on the area, binoculars for creature watching (we took them on a whale watch), charcoal grill, fire pit, kayak, etc... The amenities were all there for us. We had perfect summer weather every day, and even got a full September moon on our last night.

Perfect

Review Submitted: August 10, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This place is perfect! The pictures do not do it justice at all, and my wife and I were amazed when we first walked in the door. The furnishings were top-notch and David's hospitality was beyond wonderful. Easily the best vacation rental we have ever had. We saw bald eagles overhead every day and the property is extremely quiet, with no neighbors within view. If you are looking for serenity, relaxation and views that can't be beat, look no further. We plan on trying to come back next year because we honestly don't think we could do better!

Owner's Response: We are as enthusiastic about this young couple as they are about the Cottage and look forward to their return...

Stunning Beckoning Bay

Al and Ali Kent, England
Review Submitted: July 9, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Beckoning Bay is simply stunning. It is in a wonderful, peaceful location overlooking the Great Salt Bay. A great treat when we stayed was watching the resident bald eagle make a daily appearance! The enclosed porch is huge and such a lovely place to relax, overlooking the Bay, especially if the weather is inclement. The rowing boat was fun to take out in the Bay. The cottage is beautifully decorated, well equipped and has gorgeous furnishings - very "New England". It was the perfect place for us and we certainly would recommend the cottage for anyone who wants plenty of space, with serene and beautiful surroundings, and plenty of places to visit in the area. We particularly liked Damariscotta - a lovely little town with excellent eateries and shops, and even a theatre above the book shop.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased our guests from England enjoyed our special spot in New England...

Beautiful Beckoning Bay

jill l NY, US
Review Submitted: June 24, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The photos and description on the website are what drew us to rent Beckoning Bay for two weeks. It was just what we wanted-a place to be in nature with the comforts of home. The cottage is beautifully decorated; the furniture is lovely and comfortable; nice linens, well supplied overall. The view is spectacular at all times of the day and the sunrises over the water are just amazing. Bald eagles, blue herons and various shore birds fly over the water. It's a great place to use as a "home base" if you like to sightsee and it's a wonderful place to relax and read.

Owner's Response: This is our first year having a rental Cottage and these were our very first occupants so we really appreciate their kind remarks! We feel privileged to have been given several spectacular sunrise and flower photographs taken during their stay.
There is a small sign in the Cottage that just says "Relax", and I think they did....
