We arrived just before dinner time and had our tour of the space, and were immediately pleased, it is better than it appears in the pictures, and the pictures are captivating. The deck and view is unmatched, a span of mountains and trees, and a gorgeous boulder anchoring the mountain. Turkeys walk on by and patrol the space, they gobble by day and frogs croak by night. Fountains trickle peacefully in the background and add to the ambience. The home has so many lovely things to look at and wonderful touches like the fireplace, the kitchen stocked with all the basic necessities, warm wonderful quality linens, gorgeous antique furniture and eclectic touches.
We enjoyed the comfy couches, pillows, and blankets, the deck, the hot tub. It was very peaceful and the hostess is so kind and helpful. She noticed the olive oil was nearly empty and made a special trip to bring us another bottle. What service! We all loved it there, and have every intention of returning. Our only complaint was that we didn't book for more days! It was so wonderful we didn't want to leave....
What an incredible place to stay! My wife found this gem a couple of years ago and took her mother to wine country. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit with her and it definitely lived up to the hype. Don't be scared of the rock/dirt road once you get close - that is the first step to a house which has nothing else around it and will provide you an extremely secluded retreat for your stay. While being secluded, however, you are only minutes from the main roads to aid in your winery visits - the potential of which is extremely plentiful. You will find a very gracious host who you will see at check-in but never again (unless you need something, of course). Skip the restaurants at least one night and cook or grill-out your own food while enjoying some vino and views. The Hacienda is an excellent place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone.
This is a great location away from all the crowds. We were gone all day until well after dinner but if you like to head back around dinner time and make supper and relax, this would be a great choice. There is a large deck and grill, chairs, etc. The view is also amazing. - you can see so many stars without all the city lights! It is also has two gated drives so you feel quite safe.
Do not worry about not staying right in Napa. There are wineries everywhere and hardly any crowds up in this area. We also drove to the coast one day which was very doable for a day trip. There is also some great local places to take hikes.
There were lots of places to eat nearby and a great local market. The back road into town had some of the best views we saw on the trip. It was also a great road to walk or jog as there was no traffic. Very hilly and curvy in places so expect a good challenge. A tip from us would be take this road down every day and enjoy the views. Then at night take the less steep main road back up.
Make sure you don't mind that one bedroom is large, and the other quite a bit smaller if you are traveling with two couples. This was not a problem for us but just something to note.
Everything you would need is provided. (Lines, soap, etc.)
Nestled above the floor of Napa Valley is the serene villa, which captures the rustic beauty of the California while being close to the treasures of the California wine country. This enchanting abode, far exceeded our expectations for our "re-entry" into the U.S. culture. It was our "special" girl's respite to reflect and decompress from our four plus years serving our country in Afghanistan. One could not wish for better surroundings or a better home owner to allow us the time to appreciate what we did for our country and reflect on "our futures" as we enter back into our U.S. culture. The property is secure, well maintained and truly a "gem" for all who wish a private, serene place to un-wind and reflect on your lives! Recommend this property for those who want to be "away from it all" and capturing the moment to enjoy serenity and the time to reflect.
This is an amazing property! I planned my boyfriend's surprise 30th Birthday weekend, and it could not have been more perfect. The 5 of us were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the amazing views from the enormous porch and cozy spa. The location is fantastic, exactly the non-touristy, full Napa immersion experience that I was looking for to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th and very first trip to wine country. The host was absolutely delightful to plan our trip with, and she had some amazing winery and restaurant suggestions that we were very happy with. I can't say enough great things about this house, we will definitely be back!
The Hacienda was just the experience my wife and I were looking for. After spending 2 nights in the city of Napa to take in the tourist items there, we wanted a place we could just relax, take in scenery and not worry about the rush of life. I am so very happy we listened to the recommendations here and picked this house. On our way in we stopped at the supermarket in Calistoga and stocked the refrigerator at the Hacienda. Then we did not leave for 4 days straight! We live on the front range of Colorado so we are used to views…but the view from the balcony of this house is a VIEW! We stayed there without leaving. Just drinking wine, playing games and soaking in the countryside. Not to mention the turkeys, jack rabbits and deer that walked past the balcony! Also, if you are looking for a place where the owner does not come by to check on you/ chat with you, this is it. We were left alone for the entire time and it felt like it was our own place. The Hacienda is fully stocked with the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom items you need. I highly, highly recommend.
