In the High Country you can find a large assortment of attractions to please the whole family. This mountainous area has been hosting visitors for over a century, and today includes such popular attractions as Sugar Ski Mountain, Beech Ski Mountain, Applachian Ski Mountain, Hawksnest Tubing Park, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, the original Mast General Store, Mystery Hill and many others. The High Country is also home to the State’s only public caverns, Linville Caverns. Emerald Village is a historic mining attraction that sits in the spectacular mountains near the Blue Ridge Parkway and Little Switzerland.
Here in the High Country we also have a wide array of wineries that are sure to please the plate. There are many orchards and farms in the High Country, such as, Apple Hill Farm which offers outstanding mountain views, and featuring Alpacas, Llamas, Goats, Donkeys and Horses. The Historic Orchard at Altapass is an apple orchard located in the Blue Ridge Mountains that celebrates the people, music, art, and natural beauty of the High Country. It is a wonderful spot for family fun, with hayrides, mountain music, and their famous Orchard fudge. The High Country is filled with Christmas Tree Farms.
