Overview

Huddleston Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Sleeps 4, 2 bedrooms, private dock, Romantic Retreat

Cabin 2 is in a row of ten that rim the shore of a secluded cove on Smith Mountain Lake. The cabin is near the end, making it one of the most private of all. There are wilderness views of undeveloped forest and the lake, as well as Smith Mountain. The cabins are located on Witcher Creek, which is a no wake area. This feature makes swimming very safe, and a sense of peacefulness prevails that you will not find in other areas of the lake that experience more boat traffic. A private deep-water dock is shared by the two cabins, offering easy access for boating, swimming and sunbathing. Both cabins are two-bedroom, one-bath lakefront homes, with solid cedar construction, open-beam ceilings and hardwood floors. Silver Bay View Cottages are ideal for reunions. We can accommodate up to 24 people between four properties that include the Main House, the Cedar Cabin and Cabins 1 and 2. Be sure and check out these other properties as well.

Swimming: There is nothing more enjoyable than to stretch out on the dock with a good book, and then dive into the clear, warm water for a refreshing swim. The lake is one of the cleanest in the East Coast, and as you swim or relax, you are looking across to undeveloped wilderness.

Boating: There may be no better lake in the Mid-Atlantic region for boating. The 20,000 acres of Smith Mountain Lake and its 40-mile length make it a perfect place for water skiing, speed boating, canoeing, kayaking or sailing. Power boats and wave runners can be rented at several locations on the lake, including: Bridgewater Plaza Marina (Boats can also be picked up at the State Park), Parrot Cove (Parrot Cove also rents Kayaks), Parkway Marina (formerly knows as Saunders Marina), Mitchell's Point Marina or Virgil Naff Sea Doo (wave runners only). The closest boat launch and boat rental is Mitchell's Point Marina.

Fishing: Fishing opportunities at Silver Bay View Cottages are unbelievable. The properties are located on Witcher Creek where the stripers spawn every spring. The lake is regularly stocked with game fish, and contains striped bass, large and small mouth bass, muskies, northern pike, and an assortment of small game fish. Fishing guides are available to introduce you to the lake, including: Captain Bert's Fishin' Charters, Mike's Striper Guide Service, Rockfish Adventures.

A little piece of paradise.

After visiting and staying in our cabin at Smith Mt lake, I could very easily live there. The cabin it self was wonderful.

I would recommend it to everyone.

Our stay

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is very nice. The view of the lake from the bed in the morning is so beautiful.

Be careful if using the toaster as it does not properly work according to the setting. The lowest setting will burn your toast!!

It is so quite and peaceful, the dock is really nice. We did bring our boat to fish, we didn't catch anything but was really relaxing.

SML is beautiful.

Amazing view!

  • 3 of 5

This cabin was a great weekend stay at Smith Mountain Lake! The view of the lake was amazing however there are a ton of bees on the porch that made it hard to enjoy. I also think for the price you pay to stay here it's a little ridiculous that you have to be responsible for taking out the trash to the nearest trash dump or they will charge you $10 but overall it was a nice stay and the cabin is kept clean.

Owner's Response: Part of the joy of Smith Mountain Lake is that it is surrounded by forest, and with the forest comes nature, and that includes carpenter bees. The bees become active for a few days every Spring (on the first warm days) and sometimes in the Fall. Most of the year there are no bees at all. Once they come out we are able to spray for them, which we did and now there are very few if any bees at the property. Fortunately carpenter bees do not sting. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the bees. It is a case of unfortunate timing of your visit in the cycle of the lives of bees! Trash collection is not available in our area, so all of us must make regular visits to the dump. The $10 fee (that is clearly stated in our policies) is merely to cover the amount we are charged by our housekeeping company to take trash to the dump. We are pleased that you had "a great weekend stay", enjoyed the "amazing view" and found the "cabin is kept clean."

great weekend getaway!

Beautiful weather and views. Lake is still pretty cold in April, but that didn't stop our two dogs from diving in again and again. Cabin was updated with all the amenities we could need. Overall, great weekend trip. Would definitely return!

Our Stay at Cabin 2 at Silver Bay

  • 5 of 5

My fiance and I rented the cabin for his birthday weekend and for relaxation. The cabin was in a beautiful section of the lake. The cabin itself was breath-taking. Very nice, clean, welcoming feeling. We really enjoyed it.

This was my first time ever renting a cabin and the owner of the cabin was very nice, and helped me go through the steps on how to rent it. Thank you soooo much for allowing us to rent the amazing cabin. You will hear from me again in the future for possible more rentings.

Perfect relaxation

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very comfortable and well kitted out, was clean and all the appliances worked well. By far the highlight though was sitting on the decking outside or the jetty and soaking up the view - stunning! It was so peaceful, and perfect for swimming. Both our children did their ice bucket challenges on the jetty and had many comments about the background view! The owner, who lived nearby, was very helpful, and responded immediately to any query. We would definitely recommend the cabin to anyone.
