Longpoint Wildlife Refuge comprises over 630 acres of sandy plains, marshes, woodlands, ponds, and barrier beach at Tisbury Great Pond. Swimming is permitted at Long Cove Pond and South Beach. Children will love the warmth of Long Cove Pond, a fresh water lake, after playing in the surf of South Beach. Parents will love Long Pond Beach for its relative safety for young children. A sunny and open living area with a gas fireplace awaits your return from a great day at the beach. We are new owners so expect surprises and updates for furnishings and other amenities. New living room furniture has been added for 2008. Bring your favorite CDs to play on our awesome stereo. Don't forget your DVDs, Boogie boards and Bikes. West Tisbury is located in peaceful rural farmland near ocean and sound beaches exclusive to West Tisbury residents and renters. It is perfectly placed between the picturesque Down Island towns of Vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Oak Bluffs, each with their own character. Visit Up Island, the more rural areas of Chilmark (home to many celebrities), the fishing village of Menemsha, and Aquinnah where the spectacular Gay Head Cliffs are located. Summer activities include: biking, horse back riding at nearby stables, swimming, fishing, antiquing, shopping, great restaurants, authentic Farmer's Market, Agricultural Fair (in August), July 4th Parades, Fireworks, and Illumination Night in Gingerbread Oak Bluffs in August.   • All Bedrooms are on the ground level. The upstairs has the living room, dining room and kitchen in an open floor plan with a half bath off the kitchen. Three large sliding doors open up onto a full-length deck with a beautiful tree-top view. This faces the coast towards Long Point Beach so you get a nice breeze and sunsets to the southwest. Because it is up almost three stories, you hardly get any mosquitoes or other bugs. The views of the stars at night is like that of a winter night in Maine. There is no city lights to the south which faces the Atlantic Ocean, so the star gazing is fantastic. The Milky Way is unmistakably visible on a clear night and we guaranty that you will see a shooting star or two. The cellar has a washing machine and dryer. Thers is a sliding door out to a patio below the deck if you want a shaddy spot. This is also a favorite nightime hangout for children.

Notes: The cellar and the patio off of the cellar is a great place to send the teens to hang out at night while the adults hang out on the deck above. Please be careful that young children are supervised downstairs since there are chemicals that could be hazardous stored in the cellar. You will also find the Washer and Dryer there.

Golf: Public Golf Courses are available at Farm Neck in Oak Bluffs or Mink Meadow in Vineyard Haven. Both are very nice. Don't let the fact that Mink Meadow is a nine hole course fool you into thinking it must be easy. On the contrary it has some very challenging holes and is plenty long. Farm Neck is a premier course for Cape Cod and the east coast but is still open to the public. Check out their websites for more information. Farm neck is only 4 miles away. There clubhouse restaurant is one of the best on the Island. Beautiful scenery and Ocean views from both.

Long Point Beach, Katama South Beach, : Daily passes are available at Long Point Beach for parking or you can take a bike there in about 10-15 minutes. Follow our private road to the end, go through the gate and take a left on the dirt road. In about 1/4 mile you will see a green gate at the Long Point Reservation entrance . You may call ahead to see if parking is available. If you go before 11:00 AM you will probably get a spot. This Beach should be #1 on your list. It will feel like a discovery. Because the parking is limited, the beach has lots of room for everyone. Toilets and showers are available. Try Katama Beach in Edgartown also. Go towards Edgartown center and take a right at a well-marked sign just before the center of town. This Beach has free parking all along the street near the beach. Bath Houses and toilets are available for free. There is a concession stand. There is a four-wheel-drive only beach at the far end that is well worth the price of admission.

West Tisbury Town Beaches: There are a few nice Town owned Beaches that are available and need a pass which you can get from the town hall. You will need your rental agreement to get a town pass for the week. Check out the Town of West Tisbury website for more details.
