Rooms with a view! (and so much more)
The apartment was even more comfortable than we had hoped for. The living room and bedroom were larger than we had imagined and the beds were wider than a twin bed (and very comfortable). The sofa bed in the living room, partially opened, made a wonderful lounge where we enjoyed watching television and movies on the dvd player. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals when we didn't want to go out. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower, great water pressure and plenty of hot water. There is a nice balcony where we sat in the sunshine on many “Indian Summer” days. The big laundry room on the 2nd floor has about 12 full size washing machines and 6 dryers and only cost ONE euro to wash or dry. There is a bus stop 3 minutes from the apartment (just around the corner near a very good Indian restaurant)where you can catch a ride to the old part of the city. A 10-15 minute walk puts you at the main bus/train station and the opportunity to visit all the smaller towns near Salzburg as well as connections to other European cities. There's a McDonald's and a Burger King there and a Spar grocery store. A Billa grocery store, located in a mini-mall, was even closer. We often got take-out at a Chinese restaurant about 10 minutes from the apt. There are several places selling Turkish food in the area. All of these places I’ve mentioned were either at the train station or on the way there. Several good restaurants are near the apartment serving authentic Austrian food, too. There is a great restaurant down in the old part of town on Getreidestrasse called “Spaghetti & Co” where you can get very good spaghetti /pasta meals and if you like fish, Nordsee (same street) has wonderful food. The fish and chips are great. Whatever you may be hungry for, you’ll probably find it somewhere in Salzburg.
To sum it up, we couldn’t have been more pleased with the big, clean apartment, the location, and the owner, Lore. We found her to be a very friendly and agreeable person who did not hesitate to help in any way possible to make our stay in Salzburg one we will always remember fondly. I can’t imagine a better place from which to explore Salzburg and the surrounding towns. You definitely get your money’s worth with Lore’s apartment. We also appreciated the fact that we could pay with U.S. dollars.
FYI.."The Corner.." (don't recall whole name) near train station..good spaghetti but don't ask for a little more sauce! A few spoonsful cost same as whole spaghetti dinner! RIP OFF
