Go back to a simpler time, for a week or a weekend, any season of the year. Enjoy our private, relaxing ranch-style home, located on a wooded hilltop across from Long Island Sound, in a desirable area of the small coastal town of Clinton, Connecticut. Bask in the sun on our semi-private beach. Play in our large, open front yard; watch birds and wildlife in the wooded backyard with marsh view.

Features: Large kitchen, living and dining rooms, 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, sunroom. Fully furnished, with all appliances & linens, 2 HD flat panel TVs, satellite TV, DVD players, stereo, and wireless high speed Internet access. Books, games, bikes, rowboat, kayaks and more.

A car is recommended for day trips, but not required to travel to/from the property. Estuary Transit offers daily routes plus Dial-A-Ride door-to-door to/from Clinton or Old Saybrook rail stations by prior arrangement only; see http://estuarytransit.org. The local area is served by Enterprise Rental Car agencies in Madison, Guilford and Old Saybrook. Grocery delivery is available from Peapod.

About Mary and Melissa

Two sisters inherited this property in 2008 from our dear dad, a builder who constructed it himself from the foundation up in 1954. The house was renovated and refurnished in 2007-8, but we kept some of the loving touches Dad built in, like the vintage main bath and the knotty pine kitchen cabinetry. We spent our own childhoods in this neighborhood and on this beach, and we hope your family makes memories here as fond as ours. As dog lovers ourselves, we welcome well-cared for, well-behaved pets (per our pet agreement) - they'll enjoy their time here too!

A hilltop setting with plenty of privacy and room to play sets this property apart from most beach cottages in the local area, which are crowded together on tiny lots down near sea level. The house has a large front yard and parking well off the street for 3 cars with room to spare. Beach access is deeded and shared only with our longtime neighbors, offering an exceptional degree of privacy.

You’ll be within 45 minutes of the Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun casinos, featuring top entertainment as well as gaming year round, and less than an hour from historic Mystic Seaport. And a quick two hour trip away from either NYC or Boston.

Melissa and Mary have created a warm and comfortable place to enjoy some relaxing time by the shore. They have updated the house while still retaining its charm. We stayed for a weekend to attend a family wedding and found everything to be just as presented.

The home is in a wonderful beach side neighborhood. The beach is just across the road. We had several nice walks on the beach. The area has wonderful bird watching and other wildlife - we saw a beautiful red fox from the kitchen window!

The house is clean and well appointed. Great linens, well appointed kitchen. Melissa was easily available by email and took care of our needs - even mailing back the clothes we managed to leave behind!

Wholeheartedly recommend TwoSisters!

Private setting, with the water just a few steps away, yet so close and convenient to everything!
The house is clean, comfortable, roomy and ready for you to arrive and settle in. You will not be in-want of anything!

This home will more than satisfy anyone’s needs; if you want to spend your vacation sitting on the beach with a book, it is perfect. If you want to be active, ride bikes, kayak, row boat, fish, bird watch and go on nature hikes, it is perfect. If you want to go to thrift stores, antiquing or to discount outlets, it is perfect.

The kitchen has everything you will need, you can also grill! If you don’t want to cook, there are restaurants abound!

The owners were so pleasant and helpful, from the very first correspondence, answering all of our questions. We felt truly taken care of before we even walked in the door.

I would recommend this vacation home to any family member or friend.
