This newly renovated oceanfront home with a sandy beach is located in the private ocean side community of Indian Point. Bold ocean views from every room, this charming pristine cottage provides a relaxing atmosphere of a remote island getaway . . . a perfect setting for a romantic vacation. As guests of this small private community, you will enjoy access to several sandy beaches, nature trails along the marshes, tidal sand flats, miles of beautiful rocks with spectacular views and a boat launch on a sheltered bay. From two decks you can enjoy the sweeping seascapes of two lighthouses and rolling surf. At night, you will be relaxed by the sound of waves crashing on the rocks, the smell of the ocean air and the moon light reflecting on the water. This pristine cottage has two bedrooms and two full baths. There are many large windows that will give the feeling that you're sitting on the rocks with the waves crashing at your feet.

Local interests: Although most guests will just stay and enjoy the amenities of Indian Point, others will take a 10 minute drive to the beautiful beaches and sand dunes at Reid State Park or the picturesque fishing village of Five Islands. At Five Islands you can enjoy a shore dinner on the wharf while watching the working lobster boats. On the island of Georgetown there is a general store, marina and a farm stand with fresh local raised vegetables as well as fine cheeses and wines. There are also two fine restaurants on the island.

Area Interests: A 20 minute drive up Route 127, you can visit the historic City of Bath with its maritime history and many old sea captain homes. While in Bath visit the Maine Maritime Museum as well as a variety of stores, shops and restaurants. A 40 minute drive from this cottage is the outlet shopping in Freeport, home of LL Bean's flagship store. Antiquing is available a 30 minute drive north along Route 1 in Wiscasset. Boothbay Harbor is one hour east and Portland is one hour south.

Notes: Children under the age of 10 years old are not permitted . . . it is a safety issue as the deck only has a top rail. The front edge of the deck is very near the rocks and then it drops fairly steep to the surf.

Fantastic ocean views

This is a bright freshly renovated cottage with fantastic ocean views. From the deck, the ocean is right there. It is truly an ocean front property. Everything inside is in excellent condition including the furnishing and bathrooms. We did wish that the bed in the second bedroom was larger. (The owners are addressing the issue of the bed for the 2013 season.)

The community has a sandy beach within walking distance and with easy access. The Georgetown area has lots to offer. Within a short drive, there are lobsters at the Five Islands wharf, an art gallery, ice cream cones, a small local market with fresh produce and local cheeses, a casual restaurant, and a special occasion restaurant. We are looking forward to our time there again this summer.

A couple of issues this year....

This was our second year staying at 66 Loop Road. The first year could not have been more perfect. The ocean right off the deck was spectacular and listening to the waves was totally relaxing. The rental agent even brought over a lobster pot and cribbage board when we said we wished we had them. Granted, the mattress was horribly uncomfortable, but that was the only negative. This year the mattress was still bad and there were a couple of other issues. When we ran the bath water it came out sandy! I thought maybe the tub hadn't been cleaned, but when i asked the rental agent she told me it was "a known issue." it would have been nice if she had had made it known to us. That bathtub was unavailable for the week. Also, we were having a quiet Wednesday afternoon at the house when the gardner decided to mow the lawn. The mower sounded like it didn't have a muffler, it was that loud. It sounded more like a souped up lobster boat han a lawn mower. An hour later we were able to sit on the deck and relax.

I am terribly sorry you found the mattress to be uncomfortable. The owner of the home has agreed to replace the mattress prior to next season. The current mattress was extra firm and they realize that it may not be comfortable to everyone. We hope you return and find the new mattress more to your liking.

Unfortunately, with weekly rentals turning over on Saturday, we are not always able to address all issues in our short turnaround time. The plumbing issue you had during your stay was not made aware to us until a few hours prior to your arrival. We had a plumber come look at the problem on that Saturday but he was unable to rectify it prior to your arrival due to its complicated nature. The issue has been addressed since then. Thankfully, this property has two full bathrooms.

We try to have our lawns maintained when guests are not present but weather and other factors do limit our abilities. Lawn care is not limited to Saturdays so it is normal to have the lawn done during the week. We take pride in the cleanliness and appearance of the properties we maintain. I apologize that you were inconvenienced.

We do ask that renters let us know of issues during their stay so that we can promptly address them. Your enjoyment of the property is of utmost importance to us.

Perfect setting!

This is an absolute beautiful place. We had a wonderful week surrounded only by lots of birds and the constant rolling of the waves against the rocks - which you can see from every room of this very comfortable house. It seems as if the architect really thought it through: Ocean view from each room (even if lying in bed), sky lights to let even more light in and the possibility to ventilate the whole house by just opening the windows and let the wind do the job. Given the surrounding salt marshes and woods, unsurprisingly mosquitoes felt quite at home as well but we mostly managed to keep them at bay with chemical agents and the mosquito screens with which the property is generously fitted. The only minor drawback was parts of the kitchen equipment - the pots and pans did not have fitting lids and seemed to be rather outdated and there was no grater however, this is really the only thing to consider complaining about. It was a bit surprising since the kitchen is a beautiful place and contains a great hob and oven which made it a joy to cook. Although usually not done on request we were provided with logs for the fire place and even the kindling was not missing (many thanks!) because the season was over and logs difficult to obtain. We loved every minute we stayed and hope to return soon!
