Great view, and comfy condo at a value price. Make sure its right for you, though.

The view from this condo is better than pictures can show. But remember that the building is about 10 flights of stairs up the hillside and you will have to use the stairs or a taxi (about $1.80 per trip) to get home from the beach and the town. We walked all the time and enjoyed the aerobic challenge...walking to old town takes only a few minutes. The living room, upper deck and poolside area are great places to read or to share a cocktail. The photographs accurately portray the place: the furniture is comfy, but not elegant. The downstairs bedroom offers a comfortable king size bed (you'll notice that the wall and sheet are bright red). The place is cleaned once a week and is generally fine, but if you look at the details you may be disappointed. The kitchen has a lovely marble countertop but the eating utensils sit inelegantly in a tray on the floor underneath it. Barrett is a helpful owner who will answer all your questions about the place (you can reach him in California on his cell phone). However, there is no one on site to give you advice about Puerto Vallarta. The building and the neighbourhood are gay friendly. The pool area is a lovely place to read, but the pool is a small dipping pool and during the winter the sun may not provide enough heat to warm it. The lower deck outside the bedroom has nice plants but is a bit grotty....the deck furniture is worn out. The upper deck, however, is spectacular. Being right next to the pool is a bonus. The sounds of the city below are augmented by rural sounds (roosters crow in the morning, a donkey brays..). We enjoyed the Magic Jack phone which allowed us to call home at no cost. Every morning, we went down the stairs to the south of the building and walked the beach. We recommend Epoca for lunch on the beach. Order the guacamole at Blue Shrimp for your beach sunset evening. Eat at least one dinner at La Piazetta (on Olas Altas, directly below the condo) for elegant food and service at a great price. Theresa's Bistro (next door) is a new restaurant that serves very good food with a great view.
