Condo Bugambilias is located in a small condominium complex located along the hillside over looking famous Zona Romantica area of Old Town, Puerto Vallarta. Unlike the 'Puerto Vallarta' you will visit if you book at a large resort, this condo is located in authentic Puerto Vallarta, cobble stone street included! If you book a resort you will likely end up outside of Puerto Vallarta, and will be required to take expensive taxi rides to travel the 20+ minutes to town. You will find our complex quite and welcoming to ALL. This recently remodeled, 770 sq. ft. condo is being offered for daily, weekly, and monthly rental. Below you seeing the view from the living room of our condo. This condo a fully functional 1-1/2 bath, 1 bedroom home. If you haven't rented a condo while on vacation before, I highly recommend trying this wonderful secret. In this condo you will feel like you are in a home rather then a hotel, because that is what it is. The condo is a 5 minute walk to famous Muertos Beach
Several famous establishments such as Blue Chairs and La Palapa all within a 5 minute walk from the condo. Olas Altas area of Puerto Vallarta where you will find many wonderful restaurants, galleries, clubs and bars is also with in 5 minutes walk.
The condo features a full kitchen, dining room, living room (with a great view), and a full size air conditioned master bedroom with a private terrace just outside a sliding glass door. The condo also has 2 TVs with cable, two DVD players, a CD player/radio, a BOSE iPod system, and Wireless Internet Access. Once a week maid service is also provided. All linens and towels are cared for by our maid. A private laundry is also available inside the condo. The common pool is the place to spend the early afternoon, then take a walk to the beach for the afternoon rays. The master bedroom features a King Size bed and the living room has a pull out sofa. 1 to 4 people can stay in the condo.
The photos of this unit depict it very well. It is a two story unit with ample space upstairs in the living area with comfortable furniture and a well equipped kitchen, as well as a balcony with a great view. The bedroom downstairs has a comfortable king sized bed and a huge outdoor veranda. Bathrooms on both floors. The unit is convenient to the pool (which is small and fairly cold) and the complex is not far from the beach. There is a handy "hidden" staircase just beyond the neighboring building that lets one avoid walking along the highway. Lots of arduous stairs but they lead you within one block of the beach. Once on the beach, walk to the left (past blue chairs) and there is a nice flat area at the end of the beach with a shallower swimming area and calmer waves. This is a great place if you want to get away from the hotel areas and get a little better flavor if life in the city. The cobblestone streets in Old Town are pretty, especially in the morning before it gets busy. No need to take a bus or taxi if you are a healthy person who enjoys walking. You will likely find the area of the condo to be fairly quiet, with the occasional rooster crowing and donkey braying. The area was noisy on the weekend nights (on Easter weekend) but on the weekdays it was nearly silent. Easter is the busiest time of year in Mexico for traveling so that's to be expected. We'd recommend staying here. Barrett was responsive by email to my questions before our stay.
The view from this condo is better than pictures can show. But remember that the building is about 10 flights of stairs up the hillside and you will have to use the stairs or a taxi (about $1.80 per trip) to get home from the beach and the town. We walked all the time and enjoyed the aerobic challenge...walking to old town takes only a few minutes. The living room, upper deck and poolside area are great places to read or to share a cocktail. The photographs accurately portray the place: the furniture is comfy, but not elegant. The downstairs bedroom offers a comfortable king size bed (you'll notice that the wall and sheet are bright red). The place is cleaned once a week and is generally fine, but if you look at the details you may be disappointed. The kitchen has a lovely marble countertop but the eating utensils sit inelegantly in a tray on the floor underneath it. Barrett is a helpful owner who will answer all your questions about the place (you can reach him in California on his cell phone). However, there is no one on site to give you advice about Puerto Vallarta. The building and the neighbourhood are gay friendly. The pool area is a lovely place to read, but the pool is a small dipping pool and during the winter the sun may not provide enough heat to warm it. The lower deck outside the bedroom has nice plants but is a bit grotty....the deck furniture is worn out. The upper deck, however, is spectacular. Being right next to the pool is a bonus. The sounds of the city below are augmented by rural sounds (roosters crow in the morning, a donkey brays..). We enjoyed the Magic Jack phone which allowed us to call home at no cost. Every morning, we went down the stairs to the south of the building and walked the beach. We recommend Epoca for lunch on the beach. Order the guacamole at Blue Shrimp for your beach sunset evening. Eat at least one dinner at La Piazetta (on Olas Altas, directly below the condo) for elegant food and service at a great price. Theresa's Bistro (next door) is a new restaurant that serves very good food with a great view.
