BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED NEW COZY CABIN - IN QUIET SILVER GATE

Cooke City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

The Lamar Valley Cabin is a new, comfortable, rustic one-room cabin nestled in the woods in the quaint town of Silver Gate, Montana.

The cabin is one mile from the North East entrance of Yellowstone National Park and is a few short miles from the popular wolf-watching site of the Lamar Valley. The famous 'Beartooth Highway' is just a few miles to the East, and one the country's most scenic drives.

The cabin’s main floor holds a beautiful lodge pole queen sized bed, a kitchen, a full bath with shower, a dining table with leather chairs, and a leather recliner for relaxing.

A ladder leads to a loft with two twin beds which are just perfect for the kids.

While the cabin is tucked into the woods, grand views of the Absaroka range can be glimpsed from the cabin's main floor. In the summer months a wonderful meal can be enjoyed just across the street at the famous Log Cabin Café.

We also have a large two bedroom cabin (vrbo 291211) This large cabin has a gas fireplace, a breakfast nook with windows on three sides, gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, black walnut countertops, hardwood flooring, leather furniture, 2 bedrooms upstairs with a queen bed in each plus a reading nook which doubles as sleeping quarters with 2 twin beds. The cabin has a full bath upstairs, and 1/2 bath downstairs with laundry facilities. Outstanding views of the Absaroka Range from each room.

Each cabin was built with respect to the environment: We use no-VOC paints, and low VOC finishes and stains. The toilets are dual flush toilets to save water, and our hot water is 'hot water on demand' which heats water as you use it, allowing unlimited hot water and eliminating wasted energy use. We have insulated the cabins with foam insulation, so they are not only quiet, but they heat very quickly and do not experience heat loss. We have purchased all of our exterior siding right down the road from us at Drew's wonderful local mill. We use non-toxic cleaning supplies and wash our sheets in phosphate-free laundry soap.

An important note about winter recreation: If guests intend to snowmobile, please note that Lamar Valley Cabin requires snowmobiles to be on a trailer and not in operation while on the property. Please call if further clarification is required.

This location is unsurpassed for exploring Yellowstone. The Northeast section of the park offers some of the most stunning, rugged landscape in Montana. The area makes a great base for Yellowstone hiking or explorations in the Beartooth Mountains.

The cabin is brand new, with all new quality leather furniture, and skylights to keep it cheery while tucked in the privacy of the woods.

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was perfect for our family of 4. It is located right outside the Northeast gate to Yellowstone, which was perfect for us. We would spend the day in Yellowstone and come back to the cabin for dinner, card games and a movie on the computer. Some of our drives in Yellowstone took 2 hours, just because Yellowstone is a large park. We really liked the long drives, because we saw so much. (Geyers, waterfalls, mountains, wildlife.) We were able to see bison every day, as the northeast gate is right by Lamar Valley. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for the week. Karen was very helpful throughout the renting process and gave good tips on what to do in the area and where to buy groceries. Highly recommend driving the Bear Tooth Highway to or from the cabin. It is absolutely beautiful. (It winds up and down the mountains, so the drive can be stressful, but worth it.) Silver Gate is a small community, but very welcoming to tourist. Thank you for allowing us to use your cabin. We are looking forward to coming back to this location soon!!!

Great Place to Enjoy Yellowstone!!!!

  • 5 of 5
This cabin was the perfect place from which to enjoy Yellowstone. The cabin is small but it was plenty big enough for my wife, my daughter and I. The cabin was very comfortable (including the beds). It also had wireless internet, which was really nice and worked like a charm.

The owners were very easy to deal with and let us stay 2 nights instead of the mandatory four (Thanks again!!). They gave us great directions on where to shop for food before coming into the cabin.

The cabin was very clean (better than many hotel rooms I've stayed at). It was also very well equipped. We cooked both nights that we stayed there and had everything we needed. The cabin is right outside the gates of Yellowstone and a stone's throw from a nice little general store and a small restaurant.

Overall this was a very positive experience. I would certainly come back and would recommend this place to family and friends.

Clean & nicely decorated little cabin with all the conveniences to help you enjoy a day in the park and save money by eating in or being able to pack a lunch. We stayed here for 4-5 days to explore the Lamar Valley and some other areas on the eastern side of Yellowstone. Town was quiet & peaceful, yet accepted you as a local.....some very friendly locals were talking about what wildlife they had been observing in the park and were glad to share it with us as we sat across from them at the Log Cabin Cafe. Silver Gate General Store owners & staff were the same way.....all kinds of helpful hints for great views in the park. Karen, the owner of the cabin, kept up good communication with us regarding all details of check-in/check-out, directions, payment, etc. The cabin is small, but nothing was misrepresented in any way. Our 2 teenagers had to learn to live without cell phone reception & tv for a couple of days on their vacation, but their outlook changed within a day of seeing all the amazing wildlife the Northeast entrance has to offer. If you're interested in seeing the wildlife, I definitely recommend renting a scope for at least 2-3 days if not for your entire trip from the Silver Gate General Store....they even recommended a great little coffee place in Cooke City & invited us to the evening campfire for s'mores. If you want a wonderful meal locally, check out the Log Cabin Cafe....especially their pumpkin bread for breakfast or the pan fried trout for dinner. We also had a delicious meal our last night in the park at the Beartooth Cafe in Cooke City. Our cabin had so many little conveniences that we really appreciated.....the freezer so we could freeze our water bottles to keep in our cooler all day for lunch. Someone left behind olive oil, plasticware, paper towels & a few other supplies that we didn't need, but found helpful. Also, having a motion sensor light by the front door helped tremendously as we came home in the dark most every night. Overall, we would recommend this property to anyone who is coming to view the wildlife in the Lamar Valley and yet have a cozy, comfy cabin to come home to every night. Thanks a bunch Hogan family.....it was a memorable stay.

We stayed at the small cabin the week of July 4th. It was one of the best vacations ever. This was our third trip to Yellowstone and have discovered that the entrance by Silvergate is absolutely the best for wildlife viewing and beautiful scenery. In one day we saw bison, moose, bear, wolf, coyote.
The cabin itself was immaculate and so well designed and comfortable. The furnishings are great, beds are comfortable. Couldn't have stayed at a nicer place. Thank you Karen and Jeff.
