I loved this place! It's spacious, clean and quiet. The grounds are well maintained and landscaped. We loved our late night dips in the pool. The unit is exactly as pictured. There are all the kitchen accessories you need to prepare any meal. We grilled fresh fish one night and made pasta another. I loved the blender that was provided so we could make our morning 'green' smoothies. So much better than being in a big hotel and having to eat all your meals out! This end of the island is the best...all the nicest beaches are within a few minutes drive and the snorkeling is amazing! And the island's best restaurant is on this end of the island where we had my birthday dinner, Landhuis Misje. The owners of the townhome, provide all the information you need to insure a perfect vacation and went out of their way to help us with a much needed rental car at the last moment! They are so easy to work with and everything is taken care of...all we needed to think about was which beach to go to each day! Thank you for providing a perfect place to really relax. I will definitely recommend this rental to friends and relatives that visit Curacao and we hope to return soon!
We really enjoyed the our stay at Marazul. The listing and description of the condo was very accurate. The property was very clean and well maintained. The owner and the property manager were extremely helpful. The property manager came by every day to check with us to make sure everything was ok. When we had a problem with the refrigerator, Rene had a repair man out to fix it, even though it was Saturday. Rene was very personable and fun to talk to and gave us lots of helpful hints about the island. The listing of all the dive and snorkel sites was very helpful as was the listing of the restaurants. It was beautiful and we would highly recommend it.
This was our first Caribbean vacation and we have to say it will be hard to travel elsewhere after this amazing trip. This property was as advertised, perfect for people looking to peaceful and relaxing vacation, just what we needed. The town home is situated on perfect piece of land with breathtaking vistas and great sense of community where you can meet many other travelers from Europe, Canada and USA.
Cindy is an amazing host! She will share great amount of information prior to your trip making it a bliss,
no additional research needed, and if you follow her instructions you will have fabulous time as we did.
She will respond promptly to any inquiry you have and make sure you enjoy your stay.
House itself is amazing, clean and well equipped with everything you need to cook your meals.
There is even a cooler with ice pack in the fridge that we used a lot-great idea Cindy!
Rene is great gentlemen that will greet you every morning and check if you need anything.
Make sure you enjoy sunset at upper terrace with good cup of coffee followed by wine and stargazing
on every breezy night.
Don't miss the swimming at bottom steps at Marzul , for more adventurous with crushing waves :).
We did a lot of driving around the island and have to say this is the best location.
We would leave around 8am for first swim at Grote Knip when you have this beach for yourself and then continue down the road to the best beach of the island Cas Abao.
Close proximity to best beaches, swimming and snorkeling ,best sunrise and sunset with constant breeze
(cannot find this downtown-hot-Willemstad), away from tourists, quiet and serene with
spectacular nature is what makes this location desirable!
We are looking forward to coming back in near future and bringing our friends along for good chilling and diving.
We certainly do recommend this property and Cindy as your host to all future travelers.
Until next time,
We have visited Curacao from the 18th of September till the 5th of October. The last few days we've spent close to Willemstad in Hotel Marriott just to compare the Northern part of the island with the Southern part. I have to say we regreted that we did so. Would have stayed the whole time at Cindy's apartment and up in the Northern part.
So already before arriving, we were pretty satisfied cause Cindy sent us so many info on where to buy food, fill up the car, eat, visit or dive that we knew we were in good hands. Just skip the restaurant Janchiee's but other than that great hints. Sol Food was such a nice place! The owner Sunshine keeps you up to date regarding what's going on the island and the food is tasty. Trio Penotti again excellent food, great service.
So we arrived at the apartment which is spacious and the view from the balcony is beautiful. We tended to have breakfast downstairs though and enjoyed the sunset right beside the stonefence. This view right in front of the apartment is beyond imagination, beats Marriott's beach or view by far. The best beaches are close to Marazul dive resort with the white powder like sand. During breakfast we had the company of hummingbirds and could admire the lovely, funny iguanas which are mad about red and orange color. If you are lucky enough, you meet Igor who is the iguana with the hole in the extra skin under it's chin. Those are lovely creatures. They love to eat veggie and fruits. They always take it easy, sometimes small fights over food or best sunbathing spots but other than that lazy loveable lizards. They are also protected by law which I really liked.
Everything worked in Cindy's apartment apart from one tap which Renee repaired immediately when we asked him. He is the guy who keeps you happy, answers all your questions, repairs everything and has a great honest smile everytime you meet during your stay.
We could not have asked for more. We loved Westpunt, Cindy's home, the view and the nature. Plus Renee. Whoever visits Marazul Dive Center and meets Him, please tell him greetings from Janne and Gabi (the woman who rarely speaks :) from Finland!
We have to thank Cindy for our very pleasant and nice stay. She already knows that we are going to go back next year. We definitely recommend her apartment!
We visited this resort for our honeymoon. The town house was in great condition with all the appliances you could need. A grill was provided on the back porch and we were able to grill out and watch the beautiful sunset most nights. There are walk downs behind the town house to jump into the ocean and we were able to swim to the next beach. The water is crystal clear and we were able to see many types of fish as well as swim with 3 sea turtles! Sol Food was a wonderful place to go to on the weekend. We ate there twice as well as got a pizza to go for sunday night football! Jaanchi's was also delicious, very authentic food. The resort was well kept and halfway through our stay the towels were replaced with new and the town home cleaned. We were able to have a consistent breeze with just the back screen door open. The resort was very welcoming and we met two wonderful couples who were able to give us the advice to go to shete boka national park as well as the breath of curaçao. They had visited curaçao many times and now choose to only stay in this resort due to the close proximity of multiple beaches. Playa lagun and both the big and little knip were a short drive away and had great snorkeling. We were able to swim with more sea turtles and saw so many different types of parrot fish! Although we chose to snorkel most days, there were multiple hiking trails recommended that we hope to try next visit. This resort was in a perfect location for a calm and relaxing vacation with the possibility of many wonderful activities. We hope to return next year for our anniversary!
First off let me say that this was very easy to book and the owner was very communicative and gracious. Because of that I find this a difficult review to write. To explain that let me divide the review into two parts; divers and non-divers. If you are a diver you’re going to love this place. There are many close places to enjoy the ocean even the one right off the cliff where the townhouse is located. While there are small private beaches in the area they are not recommended for safety’s sake and if you want one where everyone goes then you pay (about $10 per person).
The kitchen is well appointed the place is very clean and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure your comfort. I appreciated the cooler because we used it when we went to the grocery store which was a significant drive away. It does not have high end furnishings but they are comfortable and adequate. I loved the balcony off the master bedroom. There isn’t central air but there is air upstairs and down and with the fans on as well it was plenty cool. We found if we shut the bedroom door it was more efficient. I didn’t run the air downstairs most days – just left the fans on and the doors open.
For you non-divers (of which that was us) the western side of the island is not as populated so you’re going to take quite the drive to just about anything you want. You’re not going to find a plethora of restaurants and grocery stores. If that’s important to you then this location is not for you. The eastern side of the island is crammed with people, places to eat and things to do. Traffic is very heavy so from the townhouse location on the western part of the island you’ll spend over an hour getting there.
So because we wanted peace and quiet yet still have access to modern conveniences we checked out early (even though we were paid through the week) and moved to a resort on the eastern side of the island. The cost was only slightly more than what we were paying per night at the townhouse yet it was worlds apart. We had the relaxing venue we wanted with four top restaurants within walking distance of our suite. While I like being in a place I can cook SOME meals it was not my desire to cook EVERY meal and that’s what I found staying here. We ate at Sol Food one night and frankly after all the reviews I expected more. The food was just okay.
So we had a little bit of experience with both sides of the island but it was the resort that redeemed the vacation for us.
My husband and I went to Marazul Dive Resort for our honeymoon. When we got to the resort, it was dark out, but we were impressed how close 7B condo was to the ocean. We spent our first night, smelling the salty air of the ocean playing cards on the 2nd floor deck off the bedroom, excited to see our view in the morning. When we woke up the next morning, our breath was taken away by the clear, bright blue ocean and cool breeze of the morning air. We spent most our mornings enjoying coffee on the patio off of the family room, and the afternoons traveling in our reliable rental car to all the beautiful beaches, and sitting at the resorts’ pool about 100 feet from 7B. Our favorite beaches were: Cas Abou and Grote Knip. Cas Abou was especially nice because of the tiki huts available for shade, and also a bar with drinks and food available. Our evenings were spent walking to Rancho El Sobrino where we talked with the local waiting staff, and trying out all the restaurants Cindy recommended. We had a blast seeing the culture of the island, talking with the multilingual locals.
We talk very highly about Marazul Dive Resort for many reasons. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere of Marazul vs. Willemstad. The beaches in Marazul were beautiful with white sand and calm waters. The snorkeling, site seeing, and cliff jumping in Marazul was breathtaking. The Dive Resort is a locked condo complex, and you feel very safe and well taken care of. The friendly manager walks around in the mornings to check on guests, and to make sure they have everything they need, and give them advice on interesting places to visit. The view from 7B couldn’t be any more perfect, and the way it is decorated truly brings you to paradise. The pull out couch on the first floor comfortably fits two people, and there is plenty of sitting area for other couples to join for a game, or for visiting. We also loved sitting on the patio on 7B enjoying the wildlife.
Cindy was helpful, honest, and reliable. She consistently answers e-mails promptly and was incredibly informative of the island and nice places to visit. The description of our condo was right on, and pictures are beautiful but the real life space is even more beautiful! The space was clean and well kept. We will surely be visiting Marazul dive resort and will rent from Cindy again. We truly have nothing negative to say about our experience in 7B at Marazul Dive Resort in Curacao. Amazing experience!
Perched 40' above turquoise seas, our oceanfront townhome is located in a small gated community of privately owned homes in the picturesque village of Westpunt. You'll enjoy breathtaking views miles down the coast, out to the horizon and across the bay, where the locals' colorful bungalows dot the hillsides, and small fishing boats and occasional yachts bob at their moorings. A diver's, snorkeler's and kayaker's paradise, Westpunt is home to 'Alice in Wonderland,' one of the world's most vibrant reefs. Playa Forti Beach and delightful local restaurants are a short walk away, while a 5 minute drive gets you to some of Curacao's most famous and beautiful beaches: Playa Kalki, Knip, Jeremy and Lagun. There's fantastic mountain biking and hiking on the nearby wild north side of the island, at the Boca Tabla Nature Preserve and Mt. Christoffel National Park. The market and Carnival town of Barber is only 9 miles away.
