The little quail make this yard their home and are truly entertaining. The eagles perch in the tree in front of the cottage and their nest is visible from the deck with binoculars.

We live next to the cottage property. we love it here! I am a registered massage therapist and my partner is an investment advisor. We strive to practice sustainability, growing our own food and buying locally. We garden on our lot and the cottage upper lot where the sun reaches the property all day. We have enjoy our egg laying chickens, bunnies, honey bee hives, two border collies and two wonderful cats. Kids love helping us to collect the eggs in the morning.
We are fairly active taking advantage of the nearby hiking trails and swim almost every day in the summertime.
We love meeting new guests and enjoy sharing what this great island has to offer including the amazing artisans and all our favourite restaurants.
kelly purchased this house in 2008

Tidal estuary featuring eagles, birds, wildlife, etc. hone bee hives, year round vegetable garden, extensive flowers.
Convenient 3 minute drive to town yet still very much in the country. A wonderful new walking trail will take you safely to the village in 20 minutes.
we love walking the dogs in the morning and working in the garden on a nice sunny day.
We stayed in Eagle View Cottage for a week (2 adults, 2 children aged 12 and 10) in August. The cottage was all that we had hoped - very clean, just the right size for the 4 of us, very comfortable beds, quiet location but in easy reach of Ganges. The kitchen is well equipped and the chickens outside the kitchen window were great entertainment. We were fortunate that the tide was in early evening when we were there so we made full use at that time of day of the kayak provided. Hot tub was also great though the weather was so good when we were there we really needed a cold tub!
Kelly and Lionel were very kind and helpful hosts. They are just next door and available if you need information or assistance but were never intrusive.
We had a lovely holiday on Salt Spring. There is so much to do and see that you can easily occupy a week here. Also it's rare to find a place with such an open, friendly and welcoming
We visit Salt Spring every year or two and generally stay somewhere different every time, but now that we've discovered this charming cottage I'm sure we'll be back. The flower garden is drop-dead gorgeous and looks like it belongs on a painting by one of the island's famous artists. The location is perfect -- surrounded by farms and forest, but just a few minutes from town. The cottage is clean and well equipped, with lots of homey touches. Some folks might prefer something a little more modern, or with stairs that are less steep, but for me it brought back fond memories of Ontario's cottage country -- minus the black flies.
The days were hot and sunny during our visit and we were a little concerned that the cottage wouldn't cool off at night, but that wasn't a problem at all. A reliable evening breeze and some open windows provided natural air conditioning.
Internet service was excellent, for those who care. The hosts are friendly and helpful, but mindful of your privacy.
I loved the heritage chickens that wander around and quickly made friends with them. (Their eggs are far better, and prettier, than anything you'll get at the local supermarket.)
Don't think that when the tide goes out you'll be able to wander around on the tidal flats. It's a muddy goo that makes walking nearly impossible. Launching the kayak can also be a little problematic. However, there are plenty of wonderful beaches nearby.
It may not be to everyone's taste, but we loved it.
We loved this cute cottage on Salt Spring Island. The cottage was clean, well maintained and decorated with a vintage flair that I loved. The homemade scones and jelly were just what we needed when we arrived...so good! Kelly and Lionel were the perfect hosts and were there if we needed anything. Our 2 children loved feeding the chickens and named every one of them. We loved the hot tub which was super clean, the beautiful deck, which we used everyday for reading, playing crib and relaxing. We saw eagles, quails, hawks, herons and lots of small birds, plus butterflies, dragon flies and bumblebees. The island itself was charming and I loved that the cottage was close to a trail to the beach, that we could walk to with the whole family in the morning. All in all, we had a great vacation and I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from it all and enjoy the beautiful island of Salt Spring!
We felt at home at the lovely decorated house. It had everything we needed. We kayaked, sat on the deck, used the hot tub, put the fireplace on, collected eggs and picked blackberries. We enjoyed the Saturday market, found a great yoga retreat, hiked the trails at Ruckle Park and had lunch at Fulford Harbour. We would love to stay at Eagle View cottage again when we come back to the island.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The spot is peaceful and relaxing, and the cottage is well equipped. We got around the island on rented biikes which is relatively easy to do but does take a little bit of exertion here and there!
Kelly and Lionel were perfect hosts, on hand if we needed anything.
The back garden is a sun trap, perfect for sun worshippers, but we had to make a little shade if we wanted to sit out in the afternoon (one of the disadvantages of having perfect weather during our stay ;))
All in all, a great cottage which we would definitely return to should we visit Salt Spring Island again, which is highly probable!
Amazing location and sweet little cottage! We woke up to the sound and sight of eagles every morning. This place is a bird-watchers paradise. Walking distance to Ganges and Baker Beach. The south-facing cottage was set up well for us and had everything that we required for a comfortable 5 month stay. We made friends with the chickens next door and got to love farm-fresh eggs! Sitting in the hot tub on starry nights was a definite bonus. The owners were very helpful and even helped us get some extra firewood for the winter. They lent us books on Salt Spring Island and we consulted these constantly.
The cottage is well situated for accessing Mount Erskine - a worthwhile hike with gorgeous views to the west and north. We also enjoyed the Channel Ridge Trails and Ruckle Park Trails.
This adorable seasonal cottage is a tidal waterfront accommodation located on the sunny tidal inlet of Booth Canal.
Hiking trails are minutes away and the seaside walks and shell searching await you. There is a safe walking path along the main road to the village which is about a 20 minute walk.
The natural setting of the cottage is eco-friendly with many wild flowers and over grown grasses providing a natural sanctuary for the local habitat. Quail nest in the long grasses and enjoy the fat seed heads that we allow to ripen and self-sow. We even have a 'bug hotel' where we pile rocks and wood that are allowed to naturally break down thus providing a home for local snakes and spiders, which are all beneficial to the garden. The Garter snakes enjoy the rustic grasses too and keep the balance and biodiversity of the property intact
The top of the property closest to the road is used to grow year round vegetables helping us toward our goal of sustainability. We even have a honey bee hive in the upper corner of the property (well away from walkways and drive) aiding in the pollination of the flowers, fruits and vegetables, and of course providing us with beautiful honey! Heritage hens graze on the grass and peck at grass and are really entertaining. They always come and greet the new guests.
When tides are high a kayak is definitely in order. We provide a two seater kayak complete with life jackets and paddles. Toodle around the peaceful canal and quietly watch the wildlife, or venture out past the inlet and explore Baker beach where you can beach comb and enjoy salty swims.
Relaxing on the new cedar dock just steps from the cottage is also a great way to see the birds. During the summer months the heron, turkey vultures, osprey, and the king fishers return to nest and feed. We have a pair of eagles that perch in front of the cottage and nest across the inlet (the nest can be seen with a pair of binoculars from the deck).
