Manchester Vacation Rental cottage

We loved this Lakeside Cottage. It was attractive, cozy and very clean. Everything we needed for meal preparation was easy to find. Our hosts dropped by to ensure that we knew how to work the pellet stove since nighttime lows were in the 40's. It was great to have an easy "fire" to take the chill off in the evening. Everything about this cottage was well planned. The view of the lake was beautiful especially the sunsets each evening. The cottage had all the "toys" necessary for a lake vacation. Kayaks let us explore. There was a small dock and a swimming platform. The fish were eager to play "catch and release."
Location, Location and Location is a popular phrase when talking about a home. This house was located in an area with terrific antiques. Scenic New England Towns were everywhere. Hallowell was a fun place to shop and had several interesting restaurants. We enjoyed dinner at Joyce's in Hallowell. Everything we had was perfect. Our Cottage Hosts suggested a local Butcher Shop for meats and seafood. The steaks were top notch. Two lovely Maine Lobsters came home with us and were fabulous.
Nighttime at the cottage was very special. We turned out our lights and sat on the deck to enjoy the stars. It has been years since we've seen the Milky Way because of light pollution. It was center stage at the cottage. The evening quiet was only broken by the Loons calling as they gathered for their annual migration. "Spot the Loon" was a popular pass time as we drank our morning coffee. It is quite a challenge to track a fishing Loon. It dives underwater and swims for long distances to find a meal. The direction of the dive has little to do with the point where the Loon emerges.
If you come during the summer, remember the house is just a few steps from the Lake. Kids should be able to swim and be willing to wear Life Jackets. I do not think that you'd be able to get them away from the water on warm sunny days. Even the family dog should have a life jacket since they seem to enjoy chasing kayaks. Remember this is a large Maine Lake. There are no life guards.
