A Bargain for Seattle-fans!

Some friends and I were having a reunion of sorts in Seattle: two weeks of re-visiting our favorite eateries, places, hiking and a Mariners game. Plus I had two border collies (anyone who travels with pets knows what this entails).
HomeAway listed several properties in the area, but this cottage stood out: it was half the price of any of the others, yet looked wonderful. What was the downside? Well...it wasn't located on the Sound...or in the middle of Fremont or on Capital Hill. That was it. The cottage was located in a nice, wooded area west of South Center. However, it was minutes from I-5 and maybe ten or fifteen minutes from the heart of Seattle. I took a chance.
The rewards were great: the cottage was the best stay of any hotel or home I've ever had up there! There is a full kitchen, including stove, 'fridge and many amenities supplied (great for leftovers from the Palace or Pike Place!). The bedroom has a queen bed to die for: more comfortable than any hotel room I've ever slept in. The living room is roomy and great to have guests over or just hang out watching television (bring your iPod, too: they have one of those gadgets that lets you play it over speakers and, I believe, the TV, though I didn't try the latter). Everything is -new-! The rooms are clean and there is even a washer-dryer in the basement.
The cottage is located at the end of a long driveway and completely private from the road, nestled against a moving, living wall of green trees and hedges. We were there in the fall, so the fruit trees were covered in fruit, which the owners welcomed us to (Japanese pear-apples-- wow!). The dogs loved running around the yard and playing with the owner's fluffball of a dog. There's no gate at the end of the driveway, so if your dog wanders keep them close.
You have complete privacy here, yet if you needed anything the owners were always ready to help. Midway through the trip they offered to clean and do the towels and bedding and I jumped on that-- thanks, Barbara!
In short: if you want a hideaway or a base of operations in Seattle, this is a steal! We loved "The Cottage"!
