What a delightful home!

We were three girlfriends in town for the Fiber Festival. The house was wonderful! It was close to downtown for the festival, and yet at the end of the day, it was quiet and peaceful. The back garden was just a delightful oasis.

Allen could not have been nicer, and was very helpful on the one call we had as to the operation of the commercial stove (which was really simple and we should have figured it out!)

Thank you, Allen! We had a great time!

Perfect for two families to share

  • 4 of 5
My family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) and my nephew's family (2 adults, 2 children) stayed here over the fourth of July holiday. We were in the area for a family reunion. The house is in a good neighborhood and very clean. We didn't use the hot tub or the greenhouse. The washer and dryer was a great feature so we came home with barely any laundry to do. Downtown Salida is beautiful, with lots of little shops and a lovely park. The kids especially loved the sleeping loft. There is one bedroom downstairs. The other 2 rooms are accessed by the spiral staircase, which may be difficult to climb if you have any physical restrictions. Also, the upstairs bathroom was semi-private, so we just made sure everyone stayed downstairs if someone was using the shower. Overall, a beautifully restored home with many of the amenities of home.

What a fun funky house to stay in.

  • 5 of 5
We loved staying at this quirky house. It was a great place to stay in Salida and had everything we needed. We loved the back yard with two decks, hot tub, the loft and of course the domed green house. It was a perfect gathering place for the couples and kids that came along. Our daughter was in heaven on this leg of vacation cooking pancakes for the group on the commercial griddle. We spent most of our time during the day away from the house hiking and rafting but it was great to come back and relax in the evenings. The character and charm of the home is that it is not new but more like a quilt with lots of fun built in. We will definitely be back again next year.

Cute, cozy, and a little quirky!

  • 4 of 5
Great house near downtown Salida. We were just a group of 4, but since the common areas are on the smaller side this worked well. Best part was the amazing kitchen - the gas stove with the enormous steel griddle was great for breakfast. We had a little trouble with the pilot lights and the dishwasher but Allen is true to his word and is available by phone whenever needed. Cute downtown is 0.8mi away, hot tub and woodstove were perfect for our winter stay, and we loved the childhood flashbacks brought by the complete collection of Calvin & Hobbes comic books upstairs ;)

Wonderful experience all around!

  • 5 of 5
Lovely house In a perfect central location. Our kids loved the loft and our family of 6 was very comfortable. the greenhouse, deck and pond out back were a special bonus- you won't find another house where you can pick your own tomatoes off the vine in October! Allan, the owner was so friendly, accommodating and pleasant to work with. We hiked at Monarch and look forward to returning for ski season since it's so close. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

great location

  • 4 of 5
We stayed here for two nights to celebrate a surprise birthday party. The location was perfect to walk to both the party and other amenities in town. The bedrooms and sleeping loft were good for our group. A few details on cleaning needed to be addressed and Allan took our suggestions well and the property should be great shape for future guests. We would stay here again. It is a charming property.
