Very disappointing should not be a rental

  • 1 of 5

In September 2014 my husband and I were in the house for sixteen days. Upon entering we were affronted with a very strong and unpleasant odor. After hours of airing out the house and using air freshener everywhere the odor was still very penetrating including the bed clothing and pillows. At the end of our stay, our clothing and personal items were filled with this odor, really nasty and nauseating to say the least!

On top of all this the house was not even clean. There was hair, dust, dead spiders and insects everywhere. Obviously, the house had not been cleaned, used or looked after for months (at the least). The half bath could not be used because the toilet did not flush and there was no water coming from the faucet.

Because of the nice weather we would have loved to use the deck but the lounge furniture was too dirty and rusty. Very disappointing.

As this is not the first house we have rented in the States we need to add that this house should definitely NOT be used as a rental and such a low standard is NOT acceptable!!

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this property for the second year in a row. Again, our stay was exceptional. The size and location of this property work out very well for our trip. The house is always very clean and very well stocked with just about everything you could need. If, however, you happen to forget something there is shopping close by too.

Finally, I noticed a previous comment about the WiFi password. The password was sent to us in our pre check-in communication, so it appears the owner has adjusted since the comment was posted.

Lots of space

  • 2 of 5

Accommodations for elderly were not there as we expected a handicapped toilet or grab bars , step down to TV room. Master bedroom bed had books holding up the frame, not comfortable. The sun room needs shade to watch the TV during the daylight. More TVs would be good. The WiFi password was not available, one person had to leave because we had no connection in time for him to work from there, we didn't get a call back in time. Should be posted for guest to see easily. Two people I called didn't know it.

Charming says it all!

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful vacation. Best vacation ever is what some of the kids said! We loved the proximity to lakes and other sites. The house itself is very spacious and beautiful. Our favorite was the private deck. The kitchen is well stocked and updated nicely. The bed in the master bedroom was not very comfortable, and we found lots of spiders and spider webs. We would definitely recommend this property to a friend.

Great Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this property immensely. It had plenty of space for our large group to spread out. In addition is nicely updated and was very well kept. We will definitely consider returning in the future.

Great Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

This North Muskegon home was a very spacious, comfortable, bright, and cheery place to spend our vacation week. The kitchen is updated and well stocked so we easily cooked most of our meals there and enjoyed eating outside on the private, relaxing patio area. The living room/sunporch area is spacious with lots of comfortable seating. The bedroom/bathroom situation worked out very well for our extended family of 6 adults. We found the listing and photos to accurately display the home and the owner and caretaker were very responsive with the 2 questions we had. We thought the location was great since nearby Muskegon State Park is very nice for hiking and beach activities. We also enjoyed bicycling along the shore of Lake Muskegon and exploring the Whitehall/Montegue area.
