Our Mountain Home sits in a forest of bristle cone pine, ponderosa pines, and quaking aspen. We enjoy this location because it is easy to get to in bad weather. We enjoy the feeling of seclusion, tucked into our grove of trees.
For high adventure we simply go out to the front gate to start four wheeling, hiking, mountain biking etc.
If your group is large, we have a huge dormitory's upstairs and downstairs for sleeping or playing.
Kids love our hidden theater to escape to for watching movies.
Our kitchen is outfitted with top of the line appliances that I use for food preparation when I cater events in Fairplay area.
On days we are permitted to have #campfires you may enjoy using our fire pit with all the seating provided

We are Pat and Linda Hendrix from Lakewood Colorado. Pat and his dog Scout have worked together for 5 years building and completing this work of love. We have spent many hours with our family of 7 children, and 17 grandchildren, playing in this wonderful setting. Fishing, hiking, skiing, gold panning, biking, 4x4 wheeling mountain passes, big game hunting, museum touring, hot spring soaking, White water rafting are all right here.
Pat Hendrix purchased this cabin in 2006
We built this from the ground up. We Love South Park, and Fairplay for its proximity to so much nature.
We can get to the cabin from Denver in less than 2 hours, and be eating smores in 30 minutes.
Easy to get to in the worst of Winter. Close proximity to town of Fairplay, Buena Vista, and Breckenridge.
Relaxing, enjoying the wind in the trees. Sit around the campfire cooking hot dogs & marshmallows on a stick.
Sitting around the oak table playing games, next to a crackling fire.
Turn off the WIFI and disconnect from the worries of the world.
This home is just lovely and very comfortable! We had a group of 22 adults and it worked just fine. The property is very wooded and feels secluded, but is close to Fairplay for any last minute needs! The owner was great to work with...communicated quickly and clearly and was willing to accommodate our large group! The deck and all the outdoor seating/picnic tables around the fire pit are great too! The big kitchen (stocked with plenty of pots and dishes) was definitely a big plus as well! Thank you for a great experience!
This was the perfect place for our family reunion. The accommodations were wonderful - there was plenty of room for all 14 of us and yet it felt cozy & intimate. We will definitely come back for another stay. The owner's were there upon our arrival to make sure everything was in order - they are the most gracious hosts you will ever meet. We loved the outdoor activities close by and the beautiful scenery. Great Place for a get-away!!!
We could not have been happier with this cabin in the most beautiful setting imaginable. My daughter was married around the fire on a lovely Friday evening with her friends and family present. We had a full house for a few days before the wedding and the size of the house made it comfortable for everyone.
I hope we have the chance to come again some day.
This home is built with the finest materials, pain staking attention to detail and comfort. It's rare that you can find a property that can handle a medium sized group; great for family reunions and all type of groups.
We are return renters and absoutely love this house. We rented this house in the summer of 2010 and had a top rate experience. When we began planning a white Christmas this was the first place we looked and the owner had it available. He worked with us and broke the payments up over the full year. The house was as nice as we remembered it and had a front deck added. The summer trip and winter trip were very different. We liked the fact that we could adjust the temperatures in each room separately-heated floors. The owner made all of the firewood we could ever want available for us to use. He decorated the outside of the house for us and left the Christmas tree down for us and our kids to put up and decorate (at our request). I can't say enough good things about the owner of this house. He is an absoulute pleasure to work with and we think the world of him. We missed him this year but he stopped in to check on us. If you have a large group or even 3 families that want to vacation together then this is the house for you. We have yet to fill all the beds in this house with friends and family. The kitchen has state of the art equipment and is adequate to cook and feed all of the occupants to the house. We like the Fairplay area as we like to stay off of the beaten path and away from the tourist towns. We actually did part of our shopping in Fairplay at some of the unique stores in town on Christmas Eve. This house is close to several ski resorts as well as mainstream shopping areas and big box stores. The owner makes the heated garage available and it will hold two full size vehicles. Thank you again "Mr. H" for having us. It was an unforgettable Christmas.
Our family is spread across the country and got together for Thanksgiving in this beautiful mountain home. Pat was incredibly accommodating before, during, and after our stay. The home is fully stocked for anything you could want to do in the mountains and amenities (towels, tissues, firewood, grills, etc). He has a cool campfire set up outside and a roaring fireplace in the center of the home. The kitchen was well stocked. There were 2 king beds, 2 queen beds, 2 day beds, 1 bunk bed, 9 singles, and 2 double beds. I loved the set up of the two "dorm" type rooms where we could all sleep together. All the sleeping areas have their own thermostat and heated floors throughout make this home toasty all of the time.
The 2 refrigerators and 2 laundry centers were very convenient. Along with the three bathrooms.
This was a wonderful place to stay!! There is a remote feeling, but the town of Fairplay is less than 10 minutes away and you are surrounded by mountains.
Cottonwood Hot Springs, and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, are 40 minutes away near Buena Vista.
Monarch Ski Resort is a family friendly resort 80 minutes away, with light traffic to get there.
World famous Breckenridge ski resort town is 30 minutes away, but more crowded. Lots of fudge vendors. mmm.
South Park is a world famous fly fishing destination, with many State Wildlife Areas accessible to the public.
