Locale:
Sunset Manor is in an area of very narrow, steep, winding roads - part of its charm! But it also means the neither MapQuest nor Google provide accurate directions. It is about ½ mile from the middle of Guerneville and the Russian River. The walk into town is mostly downhill, but the trip back is a hike uphill.
About Guerneville:
Guerneville is a small community, with a population of about 2500 and an area of about 3 square miles, located about 20 miles from Santa Rosa to the east and 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the west, on the north side of the Russian River. It is a tourist attraction, with a number of resorts. Bus service from Santa Rosa stops in Guerneville, about 1/2 mile from Sunset Manor. This is wine country - Korbel is about three miles away. The local Safeway is open 24/7.
About Sunset Manor:
Sunset Manor is the lower unit of a 2-unit building that dates back to 1955. It was purchased by the current owners in 2008; they live in the upper unit. The building is on the north side of the street, and substantially below street level. The hill is sufficiently steep that both units have ground-level entrances - but this also means it is not ADA Accessible. There are other residences in the area - those to the north of Sunset Manor are well below it.
