We spent alot of time researching before selecting Villa Destiny, and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was even better than we expected.
The villa has a perfect location, away from the crowds, but only 15 minuites from great restaurants and beach bars. The villa sits on top of a high sand dune, providing fantastic views of powdery white sand beach and crystal turqoise water from every room. The layout of the villa worked really well for our group. There was enough distance between the bedrooms to give lots of privacy, all three were absolutely oceanfront with marvelous views, and all had large spacious bathrooms.
We really enjoyed the villa lifestyle, and being able to cook for ourselves. The gourmet kitchen is extremely well equiped. There is also a large gas BBQ grill, which we used frequenty for grilling steaks and lobster. We ate almost all of our meals on the huge deck overlooking the beach.
It felt really secluded, private, and relaxing, and provided our own personal beach, since rarely did we see anyone else on the beach. Most mornings we would take a long walk on the powdery white sand and beachcomb for exotic treasures. Two large coral heads teaming with hundreds of fish are easy snorkels in front of the villa. The afternoons were spent lying in the lounges at the waters' edge, dangling our toes in the water with a margarita in our hand, while enjoying the gorgeous view. Watching the sunsets each evening with a cocktail in hand was probably our favorite. We would all gather on the rooftop terrace, and see if we could see the green flash. Never did, but we still loved the fabulous view looking out over the lagoon with its many islands. Stargazing while lying on one of the lounges on the rooftop was magnificent as you didn't have all the city lights to detract.
There was also a glass bottom kayak that was fun to take out and explore the canals and islands in the lagoon, and see all the birds, including the ospreys or water eagles. We also walked the 400 yards down to Cesiak and took one of their boat tours of the river trade route used by the ancient Mayans. Trip highlights were seeing the diversity of flora and fauna in the Sian Ka'an, including a couple of manitee.
Another plus for the villa was the computer and internet phone, which allowed us to receive calls and call home at no cost.
Beautiful accomodations and an absolutely stunning view - what more could you ask for? It was paradise!
