This town home is quite comfortable with a few exceptions. I feel that these are important enough to mention since they did interfere with my sleep and the overall comfort of this place.
Only one bedroom had a window air conditioner. This one smelled of rot or mold due to the outdoor shaded area just outside the windows. Needs drying out from sunshine.
New windows are nice, but do not lock. I felt unsafe.
Portable air conditioners in the living room and kitchen are very noisy.
Television in the living room is small for the size room and had a constant hum no matter which channel you watched.
Remote for the television in the bedroom which is nine steps below ground level never worked. There is no lock on this bedroom door which leads to a lower level basement laundry room which is shared by several other people. We were asked not to use the facilities between 8 and 5.. Someone was using the facilities on the weekend as well when we had to launder all the towels which smelled so horribly sour I will never forget the smell. A blanket had dried food on it. Not a pleasant welcome.
Blinds in living room did not close. Windows looked out on a ford dealer garage where work was being done on cars during all hours. Even well past dark.
Outside decks and views are unappealing and uncomfortable.
The owners’ office is attached to the town home and there were times we could hear the office noise, even after placing a towel under the doorway in the foyer that led to the office.The owner and manager of this spacious town home are very nice and accessible. If these few “fixable” things are taken care of, you will have a very pleasant time in Chatham. The location is perfect to visit the entire Cape and the town itself is quite nice. The beaches are wonderful. I would return to Chatham in a heartbeat.
Owner's Response: We are very surprised to read this review, as we always check with the tenants to make sure everything is ok during their stay each week. We were never told of any problems during or after the tenant's stay. It is unfortunate that the tenant did not fully enjoyed staying at our townhouse. If we had been contacted, some of the problems could be easily solved,
Fresh towels and clean blanket would be sent right away if we were notified. We will ask our cleaning lady to pay special attention to these details in the future. There is a bolt on the bedroom door leading to the laundry room. TV remote control was reprogrammed, and it is working. We checked all windows, which do lock properly. Laundry room is shared by 2 other members of the owner's family. We tell our tenant at time of checking in. If tenants have objections, we ask our people not to use the laundry room that week. We NEVER told any of the tenants not to use the facilities during daytime.
One of the blinds covering a sliding glass door was broken during the season. We removed the 5 vertical strips ( of 50 ) that allowed the door to be opened and closed. There will be new curtains and drapes. We will put a larger TV in the living room. We are unable to put a window air conditioner in the lower level bedroom due to the window styles, there are two fans and one dehumidifier in the room. None of any other tenants this year or past years had ever complained of rot or mold smell in the upper stairs bedroom, or in the town house. We do not smell such odors ourselves. Portable air conditioners in living room and kitchen are brand new.
Only one person's office is attached to the townhouse. This person is only on the phone and there are no loud noises. We can not choose our neighbors, but we checked with the car dealer and was told that their hours are between 8 to 5 on week days only.
Our goal is to provide an affordable, comfortable and convenient lodging for travelers worldwide. We know that it is hard to meet everybody's expectations, but we try.
