Black Mountain Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms + 2 Lofts, 2.5 Baths

Enjoy our private mountain retreat while still close to the amenities of Black Mountain and Asheville. Ideal for two to four couples and family groups of 4-6 adults with children, our pet friendly Chalet is located on 15 wooded acres in the Brushy mountains above the town of Swannanoa, 10 miles East of Asheville and 10 miles West of Black Mountain. At 2550 feet, our view is of Three Brothers Mountain and the Bee Tree Valley.

The First Floor Master Bedroom features a King Bed, flat screen TV, en-suite bath and a private entrance to the four-person hot tub on the enclosed sun porch. Two additional bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen) on the second floor and the Loft (Full Futon) overlooking the Great Room make the Chalet great for families. Children love climbing the spiral stair in the East (King) Bedroom up to the loft play area with a single bed/mini-futon. The West (Queen) Bedroom has a flat screen TV, a baby crib and sliding glass doors to the second story deck.

The Great Room with Gas log fireplace, sitting area and dining area has a full southern view through the 16 foot sliding glass doors and glass wall. The Kitchen has everything you will need to prepare your meals; a full complement of cookware, large and small appliances, two china services, crystal and daily use glassware, table linens and plenty of cutlery. Relax and enjoy the outdoors on our large 16x50 deck with a gas grill, picnic table and lots of chairs. On the adjoining West Patio is a patio set with an umbrella for dining al fresco. When evening falls, roast marshmallows in the fire pit!

Hike up to the top of the mountain with your pet to enjoy the view of the Brushy Mountains and the Bee Tree Valley below. Wander down to the ford (stream) at the driveway entrance and enjoy our little waterfall!

We are 3 miles from Warren Wilson College, and within 10 miles of Montreat, Lake Eden, Ridgecrest Conference Center, Rockmont, Timberlake, MerriMac and the Billy Graham Conference Center.

Convenient to grocery stores, gas stations, banking and restaurants. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required to reach Asheville Lookout for most of the year; may be necessary for winter rentals. Security resident on-site, housekeeper and maintenance available.

About Bob and Lorna

We built the Chalet in 2005 on acreage we bought from Lorna's father (Brett's Falling Waters Cabin) for our eventual retirement from our jobs in Northern Virginia. We love the tranquility and privacy of our home, as well as it's closeness to shopping, restaurants, and the entertainment offered by Black Mountain and Asheville. We hope that our guests enjoy their visit to our home as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

To start, we had never rented a "cabin" before, so this was a first. It exceeded our expectations, which made it all the better. We had my parents come down from Michigan, us from Louisiana, to stay there for two nights. We had a wonderful time, the location was perfect. Our only regret was that we did not stay one more night. Three nights would be the way to go if you have the time. The slightest issue we had is we could not get the hottub to work which we left a note for the maintenance people. That said, it in no way hampered our stay. We loved the place. The layout was great, to the point it may be the blueprint to our retirement "dream house" in the future. Thanks again...

Beautiful Getaway

  • 5 of 5
We were 2 couples looking forward to a "Celebration of Sorts" getaway weekend. This place did not disappoint. From the moment we saw the cute waterfall we knew we were in for a treat. The house is beautiful inside and out and very, very clean. Lots of room where each couple could have their separate space but could still come together and play games, sit around the counter or chill out on the decks. The view of the mountains is awesome and so peaceful to look at. Lorna and Bob have gone all out to make this place perfect for anyone who visits. Even though there were only four of us, there was still lots of room, in fact we never used the third bedroom upstairs with the kingsize bed. This room has a spiral staircase that leads us to a small loft with a twin bed and a futon. The other bedroom upstairs is really cool with it's own deck. It also has a baby crib if you want to take a little one. Did I mention the 2nd loft that looks down over the living room? This one has a futon also. The hot tub is really nice and clean even though we didn't get to use it because we were so busy doing other stuff. We are already thinking about making plans to go back. This place is centrally located between Black Mountain and Asheville. Being an early riser, I would go out on the deck early in the morning and could hear the roosters crowing (not to loud) from someone in the distance. Late at night we would stand on the deck and look up at the stars and moon. Such a clear view of the night sky. Asheville Lookout Chalet is everything we hoped it would be and more. Nice and Peaceful and the perfect getaway!!! Angela, Barry, Melanie and Paul ~ Raleigh, NC

Absolutely wonderful Chalet!

  • 5 of 5
While there are great pictures on here, they still don't do it justice. The views are great with huge windows in the front of the house. The house its self is well decorated and has everything you could want including radiant heat in the floors! It is convenient to Asheville without being too close. We will definitely be staying here again in the near future.

Family Holiday Getaway

  • 5 of 5
We packed that house with the max number of people we could, 10 adults 2 children and a dog! Loved speaking with the homeowners directly when renting and they were so kind to add bringing a dog last minute. We enjoyed the open downstairs floor plan and had a great time building a fire outside. Beautiful views, and not a far drive at all to get to Black Mountain or Asheville. It rained our second day but we would've loved to hike around the house, plenty of opportunity. The house was very well equipped especially needing a crib and a high chair. Almost any kitchen appliance you would need. If I had to say one down fall was we looked forward to using the hot tub, but the water level wasn't very high and it smelled a bit moldy in the room, but it was nearing the end of the season when they drain and clean it, but it did need cleaning our weekend so we did not use it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comments! It was a pleasure speaking to you prior to your arrival, and we were happy to accommodate the last minute pet (dog). We try to ensure that our guests have a wonderful visit, and our housekeeping and maintenance staff, Holly and Lee, are on call to respond to and resolve any service issues and concerns. We hope to have the pleasure of your company again.

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5
The house was amazing in every respect...Location, Views, spaciousness, amenities. Lots of room, lots of amenities well stocked. We were 8 people and did not feel like we were on top of each other all the time. The view from the deck is nice. We could not have asked for a better place. We will definitely return here when we come to Asheville again.
