Come and enjoy 'The River House', located directly on the Weeki Wachee River and just minutes to the Gulf of Mexico. This a fun and relaxing vacation place with a beautiful view. The upstairs boasts an open great room with gas fireplace, large screen TV, leather sofa. The upstairs kitchen is fully equipped with a double oven, trash compactor, Jenn-air cook top, Bosch dishwasher and a view from the kitchen sink of Ospreys nesting in the top of a cypress tree, also view the Manatee's from the upper porch.
The upstairs has two bedrooms with king beds and a full bath. Downstairs has a small living room/dining area, kitchenette, bedroom with queen bed, and a bunk room with four twin beds, a full bath and laundry room. Outside relax out on the riverfront pavilion and grill out, cook fish or boil crabs caught with a crab trap that is provided. Enjoy a game of pool or arcade basketball while relaxing out in the pavilion.
Put your small boat in the river at the boat ramp located on the property, or a public boat ramp and area park which is located within walking distance. Park your boat at the dock or use the canoe which is provided with this rental. At the end of the day enjoy a fire by the river. This vacation place is a great place for the family and friends to gather to make wonderful memories.
My family and friends 8 ppl total just stayed at the house for the weekend. There is plenty of room for everyone. The screen porch is amazing. Grill was great. The area is really quite and the neighbors are really nice. Great location.
Just spent a weekend at the river house and really enjoyed it. There were 10 of us and it was not crowded at all. The house/yard is not very attractive from the outside, but is very nice inside. Everything is clean and in good working order. We rented a pontoon boat from Hernando Beach Marina. It's a bit of a long boat ride from the marina to the house, but worth it. We took several rides up river toward the springs. The river just kept getting prettier and prettier the farther upriver we went. (tip: take the bimini top down when the overhanging branches start!).
This was my first time using VRBO. The rental process was smooth and we received our deposit back within a week of returning home. The house was in excellent condition the double oven was a plus when having my family over for dinner on our last night there. The beds were comfortable and relaxing after spending the day canoeing on the provided canoe, or after spending the day fishing from the floating dock. Although we didn't catch any fish large enough to keep from the dock we did see lots of crabs, fish, manatees, and other wildlife. The bait shop is close too. The game room was great for keeping everyone entertained, Which is hard to do when you're vacationing with 5 other people. We had a relative from CT fly in to stay with us and the drive to the airport quick and simple via the suncoast parkway/veterans expressway, which also made it a breeze to pick up beer at some of our favorite breweries in Tampa, FL. The internet was fast enough to stream netflix from the computer we brought with us, Id only suggest that you bring an HDMI cord if you intend to stream content, but there are plenty of other ways to watch movies. There are also lots of board games to play. The fireplace worked wonderfully to warm us up after we got caught in a thunderstorm and the double faucet shower was amazing. All in all no one on vacation had any complaints.
We have grandchildren in Clearwater and live in Georgia so this was the perfect spot to meet. Lots for the kids to do, boating, pool table, weekie watchee right up the road as well as the beach. The place is beautiful and well supplied. We were able to let the "young'ens" stay downstairs while the older ones stayed upstairs to sleep. Neighbors are great, scenery is unbelievable. WIll definitely be back.
I took my wife and three children here on Spring Break. The Toll Road is about 10 miles away and provides a quick 50min drive to Tampa, we were able to commute to Lowry Park Zoo, Bush Gardens, and the Tampa Aquarium with very little traffic. Also, there are plenty of brand name restaurants to choose from within 1o miles of the house.
This rental home has plenty of beds to accommodate a large group, we only needed the upstairs portion. The kitchen has all the basics, bath towels are provided, just bring food and napkins and swimming shorts. There is a large screened room by the water that is a great place to be outdoors in the evening without the bugs bothering you, and there is a dock to park your boat if you have one, a boat ramp to put your own boat in, however if you have a larger boat you may need to drive a 1/2 mile to the marina to put your boat in and drive it down river. All of the rental homes on this river are older, as is this home, however it has been cared for and is well maintained.
Being spring time, the manatee were still plentiful in the river, one swimming by every few hours. This river is great for Kayaking, Canoeing, Paddle Boarding, the gulf is about a mile down river if you want to catch the sunset on the water.
We rent homes once or twice a year for vacation in various parts of Florida, we enjoyed this home for several reasons; 1.) Nature, There were several Great Blue Herring nest in the Cypress Tree in the back yard and my boys got a kick out of watching the babies fight over the fish mom brought them, and seeing the manatees. 2.) proximity to gulf coast attractions, the toll road has little traffic ($4.50 to Tampa) and allows you to enjoy old Florida while still having access to Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Pete attractions.
This property manager and owner were very accommodating. 3 families gathered here, had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The unit is a bit outdated but very comfortable. The kids loved the arcade basketball and pool table. The area was very quiet but plenty of friendly neighbors passing by on boat. We sat on the dock early and watched mullet (?) jump right in front of us and got some amazing photos of a rainbow the morning we left. The property was clean but as I mentioned, a bit outdated. Some of the kitchen chairs felt a little wobbly and need replacing. If you're a big tv watching family, the enormous tv upstairs is losing its luster but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. The kitchen was fantastic with double ovens, griddle pan, big fridge but without a mixer (just in case, byo mixer). All in all, we enjoyed each others company, had a great time enjoying this house, the river and the view. Thank you!
