Pawleys Island Vacation Rental condo

This property is promoted as a two bedroom, sleeping 8 accommodation property. However, once we arrived access to the second bedroom was denied by an electronic number keypad. The second bedroom was set up as a second rental unit, with its’ own keypad lock and unit letter “B” on the door. The entrance to the main living area (kitchen, 1st bedroom/bath and patio area) were also electronically key padded. After arriving and finding the access to the 2nd bedroom locked out, we contacted the owner concerning the situation, he stated the rate he quoted us for use of the property was for access to one bedroom and the main living area, and since there were only two in our party to have access to the second bedroom, we would have to pay an additional $40 per night. Prior to our booking and arrival time, I spoke with the owner approximately seven/eight times, not once did he indicate the quoted rate he gave us was for use of only one bedroom. The website does not indicate ratings for any other accommodations than a two bedroom property. It specifically indicates on the property website that the property is rented on a “per property” bases, not per individual or per occupants bases.

We believed the rate we were paying was for access to a 2 bedroom/two bath unit (sleeps 8). The owner lured us in with one rate, once we had paid in full, to have access to what we thought we were paying for, more money was requested.

The owner had no indication as to who our traveling companion was…spouse, relative, friend, business contact, etc., and to the need of a second bedroom/bath. Because there were only two persons in our party, did not mean we did not need/prefer two separate bed/bath accommodations.

Since it was my spouse and myself traveling this particular time, had already paid in full, concerned if we could get our money back, and it was late in the evening, we decided to stay on without access to the 2nd bedroom/bath. However, it did put a sour note on our trip. We could not fully enjoy the property itself for feeling we had been deliberately mislead.

Future renters make sure you are specific with the owner as to what you are actually getting for the rate quoted. We should have been told up front the true situation of the property. Needless to say, although the property was a beautifully decorated property, and could have made for a wonderful, relaxing time in the area, we will not be renting from this property owner again.
