Tranquility, Peace, Quiet :
Orient NY is a village much like a small New England town. Old houses and churches in a tranquil marine setting have made this a historic area where you'll find only a post office and general store. Walking or biking will allow you to take in the charming architecture and the picturesque water views. Autumn is especially beautiful with the changing colors of the leaves. There are 2 adult bikes available at the house, or bring your own to follow the winding roads by the water like Narrow River Road to Orient State Park or the Cross Island Ferry. Or bike to the farm stand for the freshest of local grown products. Wander along our private beach searching for the prettiest pebbles, most interesting rocks, and colorful beach glass. Enjoy a quiet evening on the deck or on the beach - perhaps after a meal at one of the several fabulous restaurants nearby. Visits to the local wineries can be just you or meet and greet around the bar as you taste wines from the area.
Family Fun and Adventure:
Kids can play on the beach, in the yard, or choose games already available at the house. Orient Beach State Park is just 3 miles down the road by the Ferry and you'll find a play ground and beach area there. Near by Greenport has boat rides, a movie theater, live music in the restaurants and bars, a weekly old fashioned summer band concert (bring your own chair), marinas, and beautiful Mitchell park. A short ferry takes you to Shelter Island, and if you continue across a ferry will take you to the South side. You may want to see what the Hamptons are all about! Greenport has a public skate boarding area and the historic Merry-Go-Round in Mitchell Park. About 35 miles away in Riverhead you will find the Tanger Outlet Mall, many of the major stores and restaurants your family might enjoy. In historic downtown Riverhead visit the Aquarium with the kids, and a little further west is a water park!
