We too stayed here and were disappointed with a number of issues. We had read several reviews prior to booking and felt confident in out decision in booking here. Prior to our visit in Aug , however several members of our party read the recent negative reviews here and were concerned. I called the realtors office to inquire and was assured there had been no complaints on the property with the exception of 1 back in April about a pool heater.WE arrived at our property about 5 pm and discovered several things ...the temp in the house was 78 and we immediatly discovered the air filters so filthy no air could pass thru.WE checked the tanks on both filthy grills and found 1 empty and another nearly empty. Both grills were old and filthy with no grill scraper or brush to clean them with. The grill utensils were left on the side of the grill still dirty from the prev nights use. Forks and knoves were on the grates. On the deck was a huge bucket full of stinking cigarette butts and wrappers. The refridg lower level was loaded up upon our arrival but later that eve. we found it never chilled anything it was 60 inside. The lower level patio in the back of the house was unuseable as it was flithy and had large pots of dead tress strewn everywhere. Huge cobwebs and dead bugs were everywhere, It appearred it hadnt beenused in years. Certainly nothing like the quaint pic in the listing. The backyard was strewn with plastic cups and beer cans and papers. Horse manure that would have taken an hour to pick up was everywhere. It was even in the flower bed next to the front door on the lower level. I understand you cant control the horses but cmon the piles at the fron entryway in the raised beds were there a long while as there were were knee high weeds all around. Same for the door on the back patio piles there too that had been left for a long while. The pool area had huge weeds and small trees growing up underneath fence and around inside perimeter. A kid came by Wed of our stay with a weedwhacker and had to cut out the small poison sumac tree that was in the pool area with a knife. Most of our friends complained about the beds and their lack of support. The beds in the 2nd floor room with the bunk beds had mattresses that were pee stained and dirty. The mattresses in all bedrooms are in need of upgrade.Pool filter stopped working/pool was flithy by Wed,Thurs the whole house stunk from sulphur smell in the tap water.!! So strong is was hard to brush our teeth or bathe.

Owner's Response: We are sorry your stay was not perfect. This has been a strange year we have had in renting out our home. Our home is wonderful for most guests and a few find nothing but problems. The families who stayed the week before and after you loved it(see their reviews above and below. It makes no sense. We have concluded that some people should only stay at Ritz quality resorts and hotels. We are located in a secluded wildlife habitat where nature rules. We ask tenants to call the property mgr., who lives 3 min. away, if there are any problems. You don't mention in your review that the mgr. did come over each time you called and addressed your issues. The grills are new, and cleaned when you called, w/a new brush and propane. Sears checked the refrigerator and and found it works fine. When you pack it full of hot items from the car, it takes awhile to get cool. The A/C is fine. The filters are changed every two weeks. All of our king rooms have excellent, comfortable mattresses. The full sized bed on the 2nd floor has gotten a little worn and recently replaced. The pool is serviced twice a week Sat and Wed. You don't mention that the filter was clean and working fine by Wed evening. It's cleaned 2x a week for guests. Suntan lotion and use makes it necessary. We do use well water and sometimes there is a smell. Fresh water is provided w/ a cooler for your use. As for the weeds and yard, we live in the middle of a wild horse area close to the ocean. A storm came the night before caused the the plants to be blown over in the patio. Our mgr inspected the yard(and took pictures). There were a few things blown in by the storm which she easily picked up. But to say the yard was strewn with debris is unfair and untrue. There were some weeds growing on the fence and they were cut. But Poison Sumac trees? Please! Be real. People come here to enjoy nature and observe the horses. When the horses walk through the yard, they sometimes leave gifts. Carova Beach is not the Ritz. There is no daily maid service but we still answered every call you had. If people look hard enough, they can always find things that they aren't happy with. But you don't mention in your review that every concern was taken care of by the mgr. We want everyone who stays here to enjoy it(like the guests who stayed before and after you). But we now realize that you can't make everyone happy and that unless you love nature, the wild horses and staying in a secluded area close to the ocean you won't be happy.
