|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
This stunning traditional colonial style home is an oasis of tranquility, with grand ocean views, gracious open space, and surrounded by tropical forest and coastal splendor. Designed to be a secluded get-away home to truly escape the noise and hustle and bustle of usual tourist destinations.
In gated community with optimum security, management, housekeeping etc.
If you seek solitude, nature, an unspoiled beach, and peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Remember, no malls, fast food, tee shirt shops, arcades etc. Just Nicaragua at her best.
The Beaches: The project has its own private secluded safe swimming beach, called Redonda Beach. Water temperatures vary from high seventies (F degrees) to mid eighties. (22 to 30 C) The beach area has lovely shaded places to relax. Surf is generally mild, and safe for family enjoyment. Secluded little bar and restaurant on the beach.
The village of Gigante nearby, has a larger beach, suitable for beginner surfing and longer beach walks. Native fishing boats abound, and interaction with the locals is encouraged.
Activities: Hiking, fishing, surfing, ziplining, horseback riding and boating are all possible in the general area. The home has a binder with details, phone numbers, maps, and suggestions. The house manager can also arrange sightseeing, tours, transportation etc.
Getting there, and shopping: Its best to rent a vehicle at the airport and drive to the project. Directions will be emailed upon request. If driving is not an option, we can arrange airport or hotel pickup.
Very good shopping is available at large supermarkets in Managua, the best being La Colonnia at the Galleria Shopping center. Basics are available in the village, and a new good supermarket (Pali) is in Rivas, around 45 minutes away.
Great fruits and veggies available from native stalls everywhere, at very low prices.
We built this home as a personal get-away to a warm and genuine community.
Els van Woudenberg purchased this villa in 2005
We fell in love with the stunning ocean view with waves crashing on the rocks, and the wonderful community and friendly locals
Experience Nicaragua as it truly is. No glossy tourist trap. But, all the comforts of home.
My husband and I were lucky enough to spent 5 nights in this awesome cliff front casa in January. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it was even nicer in person than it appears in the photos.
There is an open floor plan, high ceilings, generously sized kitchen and cute kitchen bar. Just outside of the kitchen is a covered patio area with bar style seating, table and a hammock. A great place to enjoy an afternoon snack while watching the surf crash into rocky shore below.
We loved the covered patio area on the main level. The rocking chairs were a great place to chill morning, day or night. There was a nice breeze and plenty of shade. I think we spent a total of 5 minutes inside the living room during our stay!
The best was falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves every night. We hadn't slept better in months!
We spent afternoons in the pool and at Redonda Bay beach. The beach was never crowded and we easily found shade covered lounge chairs. We did a morning fishing trip with Pastori Tours and caught 7 tuna and a mackerel. They were a great crew, very professional and friendly. We also did an ATV tour with them. It was nothing extreme but it was a good time.
We had the Aqua restaurant cook our fresh fish for dinner one evening. That was very good. We also ate twice at Ale's in Gigante. It was a new "fine dining" restaurant in town and the menu was limited but the food was excellent! We also went to Gigante Bay and hung out with the young hostel crowd. Good food and great low key atmosphere. They even had live music one night which was a lot of fun!
A quick word to thank Nica Retreats for being so helpful to us on arrival. We'd had a flat tire (with no spare) between Rivas and Tola and had no choice but to take a cab to check in. Claudia made arrangements to get my husband back to Rivas to purchase two tires and replace the flat. We really appreciated their help!!
All and all it was another great trip to Nicaragua. Our first stay at Casa Ezulwini but surely not our last! We can't wait to go back!
After a stressful period we needed a break and were fortunate to find it in ideal settings at casa Ezulwini. As a hideaway it is perfect yet we never felt isolated, thanks to the excellent organization of the resort. However the Pacific ocean is the closest neighbor roaring on the rocks under the house, hosting the most beautiful sunsets that we saw comfortably seated on the terrace and bathing the fairy tale beach where we regularly went swimming snorkeling or kayaking.
We immediately felt confortable in Casa Ezulwini a roomy colonial style house with all desired comfort, above the Pacific just high enough to feel protected. A sort of pirate home decorated with refined local art.
We were there in mid November, clear blue sky with the occasional short rainfalls as the rainy season had just finished. Mapping the stars in pristine nights was an endless pleasure. We admired the luxuriant green nature in a real tropical climate where for instance reading in the cool pool over the Pacific really was a relaxing delight.
The beach restaurant at Redonda Bay deserves attention. It has always been perfectly up to expectations, for example we had a delicious beef filet with real tasty garden vegetables. Leisure, ocean activities and enjoying the quietness are not the only option. We were fortunate to see Granada, Ometepe islands, one of the world sanctuaries, Masaya and saw the mouth of an active volcano. But Nicaragua is also its people. The country has a strong identity stemming from its history and a government seeking a national consensus associating enterprises and societal values to progress. There, foreign enterprises as well as tourists have a role to play, if only by supporting the locals, for instance Octavio, the local guide is really interesting and resourceful.
The house is spectacular and spacious with wonderful flow. Perfect for a large family or a group of friends who want to share food and sunsets. The local staff kept up with all our requests elegantly and we felt 100% safe and secure by the smiles of all the security guards who greeted us night and day! I highly recommend this place for anyone interested in luxury living/vacation in rural Nicaragua.
What an amazing hideaway - a truly rejuvenating experience! The home is very well appointed and had everything needed for an enjoyable week in paradise. We found everything to be in perfect order upon our arrival. The view from the home living area and patio was amazing. Sitting on the veranda and being mesmerized by the crashing waves below is the perfect start and finish to every day. We made the short walk to the beach daily and enjoyed dining at the beachside restaurant - especially enjoyed the Sunday pizza night there - absolutely memorable. Without a doubt it is the nicest beach we've encountered in all of our travels! The water was a perfect temperature and we enjoyed swimming and kayaking each day. The howler monkeys, butterflies and birds, not to mention the flowering red trees and spectacular forest growth. So many nice people staying in the resort, as well as in the village of Gigante - we truly had the time of our life and can't thank you enough! We can't wait to return. We'll definitely hope to stay at Casa Ezulwini again when we do! Thanks!!!!
WOW! No better word describes our visit to Nicaragua, but I must expand. I hope I don’t ruin the simple perfection found in that word and Nicaragua, but here goes…… My wife and I have just come back from a week in Nicaragua, our first. It was magical, wonderful, and an experience we will always cherish. Hopefully it will not be our last. We spent the front and back end of our trip in Granada during Holy Week (Semana Santa) 2014, and it was very inspirational. In the middle we found the most wonderful home on one of the most perfect pieces of earth on the Nicaraguan Pacific coast……..Casa Ezulwini. We investigated our trip a great deal, and this home gave us high expectations. It exceeded them all. It was a beautiful home with great art, cool tile floors, a roomy lay out and best of all it was set above the pounding surf that crashed upon the rocky shores, taking with it all the cares of the world. You could enjoy the view from the very large deck with plenty of seating and hammocks or you could experience it from the large infinity pool. It was perfect for a midday cool off or for staring at the stars as the Milky Way floated above your head at night. When we rented the home we did not expect all the amenities that would come with it. The home is fully stocked with everything one might need to feel at home. It is attached to NicaRetreats ( http://www.nicaretreats.com/) and they took care of all our needs. They scheduled us a massage and set up a wonderful panga (boat) trip to San Juan Del Sur. Octavio was our host for all of this and he was so proud of his country and so happy that we wanted to visit it that we could not help but feel welcome. The property has access to the AquaWellness resort. Their private beach at Redonda Bay was heaven. From the hammocks under canopy to the swim platform out in the middle of the bay, it was a perfect place to soak and relax. And of course the drinks at the ocean side bar were refreshing. When evening fell a dinner of Rondon and fresh catch Ceviche couldn’t be beat. We also skipped over to the surfing-fishing village of Playa Gigante and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The atmosphere was very eclectic. There’s nothing like Tona’s under surf boards and flags from all over the world in a driftwood shack right on the beach. This is a beautiful home, it is a beautiful country, come here and stay here. You won’t regret it.
If you want to feel that you have escaped the fast lane and really want to relax, this is the place. You are always near enough to quaint restaurants and a very hip and laid back style beach night life, but far enough away that you can relax and wind down. This house has four bedrooms all with a/c, and views to die for. The house has a kitchen that is equipped with the basics, but we only made breakfast and we took our meals in nearby Playa Gigante. Their is always someone who will be right their for any problems that may arise.
Redonda Bay area is an unspoilt natural wonder, located around 30 miles north of the Costa Rica border. The property is close to an original native fishing village where local fisherman will either take you out to catch your own dinner, or, sell you fish from their catch. Red Snapper and Lobster are local specialties! The village has several restaurants to chose from.
The private beach is a short few minutes walk away, with gentle waves, and good snorkeling, and plenty of shady spots to relax. There is also a charming place to eat and have a drink at the beach.
Other Activities: Your house manager can provide suggestions and/or booking for tours, trips, sightseeing, and shopping. There is a great handicraft/arts market in Masaya worth going to.
Also, daily village markets in Rivas, 45 minutes away.
Golf: Nice golf is available at Iguana Resort (haciendaiguana.com) around 30 minutes away.
