Newly built Log Cabin directly on the banks of the South Toe River (cleanest river in North Carolina). Enjoy kayaking, fishing, tubing, sunbathing and swimming at your leisure. Kayaks and Tubes provided. Cabin is located on 7 wooded acres in the mountains of Yancey County North Carolina, home of Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi. This is a perfect 'get away from it all' location. Gem mines are located throughout the region and gemstones can be collected from the property. Come enjoy the great outdoors at this very private cabin.
This is my favorite county in all of North Carolina. I live 45 minutes away in Asheville and come to the cabin whenever I want to get away from it all.

We stayed at this cozy cabin over the Christmas week and we loved it. Very secluded and quite on a private mountain. We will go there again. About an hour from skiing and from Ashvile airport. If you like peace and nature this is the perfect place. Highly recommended!
We love you home and will be frequent visitors. Did not know where you wanted the used sheets and towels so I left them in the sink. Some of the flashlights need new batteries (usually we carry them but forgot this time). The pillows were just right -some places have skinny or super puffy that dissolve under you head - so we slept very comfortably. Thank you so much for child proofing your place so well. We hope to bring the grandkids sometime and it's nice to bring them to a safe house. We will contact you soon about our next trip. We would love to talk about your building experience as we are going to build a log home about ten minutes away downriver, on the Toe, and would like to learn how to get started. Thank you again Joe,John & Suzanne Stephenson
If you want peace and quiet (other than the river) this is the place to stay! Very clean. Had all the amenities that we needed. The owner gave excellent directions to the cabin. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip a day short - but I would come back here and stay in a heart beat!
Nice cabin, beautiful river, very peaceful. Nice place to unwind. Owners are very friendly and informative. Cell coverage sporadic at best, but there is a land line and moving around will allow text to be sent and received. I-phones work for text messages. Internet works. Downtown Burnsville, downtown Spruce Pines, and downtown Bakersville all very cute with great stores, galleries and restaurants.
This cabin is beautiful - superbly constructed, attentively maintained, stocked with anything guests could need for a stay here.
My family of five (parents and three teens) enjoyed our three-night stay here. While relaxing on the back porch was great, we spent more time in/on the river (a zillion tubes and two kayaks provided) and by the fire pit at the waters' edge.
Cabin owner Joe was great to deal with - responsive even while he was out of the country.
Gravel drive down to the cabin is a bit steep in places (and going UP in our 4-cyl. car loaded with all five of us was slightly challenging), but certainly not a deal-breaker.
This is a magical place and I hope we can go back someday.
We spent 5 days at the cabin. We arrived shortly after a huge rainstorm and the river was roaring, had to wait a couple of days before we could enjoy the ice cold waters, but what a pleasure that was! This is a great place to unwind and reconnect. We had everything we needed at the cabin, and enjoyed exploring the neighboring towns. We can't wait to go back!
