Our family of 17 had a reunion in Charlestown, and we rented the house to accomodate a large portion of it (10 altogether), the youngest of which was 16. We were a little concerned that the house would not be able to host the large group for night time dinner gatherings but were pleasantly surprised how well it functioned. Fortunately the weather cooperated and we tended to spend much of it on the large deck which fit us all comfortably.
The house itself is very homey, not slick and new, but well-equiped and totally functional. We found it to be clean and ready for our arrival. We enjoyed the use of the tennis and golf which were wonderful conveniences, and we also brought our motor boat which we launched at the marina & docked at the property.
The owners and surrounding family were very friendly, helpful and accomodating and we are considering renting there again.

We rental this property last July for one week. We were a little anxious that we would miss walking to the beach but the house and location was so excellent this was not an issue. A short ride in the car (with a beach pass) brought us to Charlestown Beach. The house was large, comfortable and very clean. There was plenty of space for my spouse and myself (in one 'wing'), our daughter, son-in-law and grandson in another wing and son and partner in a third wing - each wing with its own bathroom. The kitchen was large and more than adequately equipped. But the real test was the large and beautiful back porch overlooking the large salt pond - ducks, a mating pair of swans with their cygnets, geese, etc. We had the use of a golf cart (my grandson was ecstatic) and kiacks off a dock quite close to the house. Next year we will bring our own canoe. The family (it is on a large 400 acre family compound) were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

All my family are looking foward to repeating the experience.

Has potential

The people were extremely nice. The history of the home is fascinating. The grounds are beautiful with gorgeous views and excellent bird watching. That being said...The dock was not functional and there was no wireless. The house had an awful dank smell that I just could not overcome. The kitchen was filthy. Especially the fridge. I actually had to wipe it down before placing my food in it. While we were there they did mowing,landscaping,dock moving and even the Terminex guy came. Next door there was construction with guys talking and playing music all day. I actually left two days early (the weather also being a factor) with no response to my phone call. I realize that I was their first renter but it should have been clean and ready. I was not late in making my payment and I left the property cleaner than I found it.I would not recommend this property to a friend.
