Santa Fe House Rental Photos and Description

Lovely & Private 2 Bed/2 Bath Casita Just 5 Blocks Walk to the Santa Fe Plaza

Anytime of the year is the perfect time to visit Santa Fe, and this is your ideal refuge! Situated in the historic Guadalupe District of downtown Santa Fe, just around the corner from The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe at the historic Santuario de Guadalupe, this casita is ideal for two couples or a couple with two children. This vacation home with it's Craftsman-style interior, is reminiscent of a northern New Mexico farmhouse from the outside. Central evaporative cooling provides a welcome retreat from the mid-day summer sun. The house sleeps four people comfortably (1 king bed, two twins) and has two bathrooms. The main bathroom is located adjacent to both bedrooms and has a combination shower & tub with loads of decorative Mexican tile and granite counter-top. The second bathroom has a wonderful steam shower and is located just off the family room/den area The modern kitchen is completely equipped for the serious cook, with granite countertops, loads of cabinet space and all the kitchen-ware and appliances you might need during your stay. In addition, you can grill your burgers, chicken or steaks on the outside gas BBQ located on the private flagstone patio. Built in the 20's, this Craftsman-style home has been completely restored and upgraded, with distinctive features such as the specially pigmented hand-troweled plaster walls, wood floors throughout, a modern kitchen, new family room/den and steam shower. The family room and living room are well-separated, so mom can quietly enjoy her book in front of a pleasant fire in the living room while dad and the kids watch a DVD in the family room. Skylights in the family room area, the main bathroom, as well as the hallway leading to the two bedrooms create a light and airy interior to this historic downtown home. A door separates the hallway that leads to the bedrooms and main bathroom from the remainder of the house, providing for additional quiet space for those guests who may wish to retire earlier than the rest of their travel party. Wake up in the master bedroom's king-size bed to light filtered through lace curtains with glimpses of the eighty-year-old apple tree in the quiet and private, gated back yard and gardens. The master bedroom has plenty of built-in closet space. The second bedroom has two single beds, two bureaus and ample closet space.

Landscape architect-designed gardens, both front and back, provide an intimate retreat during the warmer months, with plenty of outdoor patio seating and tables, gently accompanied by a soothing water feature. Inside, the walls burst with artwork. Perfect for the family vacation or romantic get-away. You will remember your stay at my comfortable, conveniently located and private casita for years to come.

Additional detailed information about the house and amenities are available by request-- please ask!

In the spring, summer & fall you'll enjoy the lush enclosed gardens while you sip a cool drink on the flagstone patio in the shade of majestic apple, pear and cherry trees on the property. Many of our guests who are visiting during the time of year when the trees are bearing fruit, will use the fruit for baking and cooking. The gardens are planted with many blooming perennials which provide great color, especially in the spring and summer.

Exceptional festivals & art markets abound throughout the summer months including Spanish Market, the International Folk Art Market and Indian Market (the largest & most prestigious Native American art market in the world) to name a few, drawing crowds from around the world. July & August also ushers in the renown Santa Fe Opera, with performances nearly every night of the week. During the winter months, avid skiers and snowboarders will enjoy all that the nearby Ski Santa Fe has to offer just 16 miles away, as well as the close proximity to the slopes at Taos Ski Valley near neighboring Taos, an hour and a half to the North. December is a magical time to visit Santa Fe, with the smell of pinon smoke in the cool, crisp air and the glow of the farolitos perched upon the adobe homes and walls throughout this historic city. Every time of the year is a great time to visit Santa Fe!

Art gallery openings & travelling museum exhibits abound throughout the year. This delightful historic casita with its lovely gardens and prime location, is just five blocks from the Historic Santa Fe Plaza and only two blocks from the new & dynamic Railyard Arts District, Santa Fe's most significant development in recent years - an eclectic & vibrant area filled with exceptional art, fine dining, entertainment, shopping and recreation, as well as home to the fabulous Santa Fe Farmers' Market -, dozens of Santa Fe's finest restaurants, art galleries, many of the best museums - including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Palace of the Governors & the IAIA Museum, the historic Lensic Performing Arts Center - offering more than 200 dynamic events in dance, music, film, theater, opera, lectures & spoken word each year - the historic Jean Cocteau Art Cinema, REI, historic cultural & religious sites and specialty shopping are all within a five to ten minute walk of my downtown casita. The renown Canyon Road gallery area is an easy 10-15 minute walk. Only 10 minutes by car to the Santa Fe Opera, as well as the acclaimed Museum of International Folk Art, the Wheelright Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art & the Santa Fe Children's Museum. The Santa Fe Depot, only a two block walk, is the northern-most terminus of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter rail line providing easy access to Albuquerque for a fun day-trip for children and adults alike. Both Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are located less than a 5-minute drive away. A new multi-plex cinema and cafe is under construction only 3 blocks away, with anticipated opening in 2015

Whether you're a first time visitor to Santa Fe or you've been visiting this enchanting city for years, you'll appreciate the close proximity this property provides to everything 'The City Different' has to offer. It doesn't matter whether you come for a week or a month - just come - and experience all that IS Santa Fe!!!

About Perry Andrews

I have been vacationing in Santa Fe for over 20 years. I've loved returning to the 'City Different' year after year. Santa Fe's rich culture and heritage, combined with my lovely casita's prime downtown location within walking distance of the finest restaurants, art galleries, museums, and world class entertainment, enticed me to purchase this particular home earlier this year (2014), after looking at homes in and around Santa Fe for a number of years. I decided the downtown location of this property can't be beat. Lovingly taken care of by the home's previous owners, they returned to Santa Fe year after year to vacation & visit. The house has everything I need, including ample space and the amenities to entertain friends when I visit several times a year. I hope you will enjoy my lovely casita as much as I do.

What makes this house unique

Convenient to and within walking distance of dozens of Santa Fe's finest restaurants, art galleries, specialty shops, museums, the historic Lensic Performing Arts Center, the vibrant & eclectic Railyard Arts District and the Historic Santa Fe Plaza. Only 10 minutes by car to the Santa Fe Opera and a number of additional outstanding museums. The Santa Fe Ski Basin is only 16 miles away.

I only wish the weather would have cooperated for you a little better. That's about the only thing that is out of my control!!! Best spot in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5
We spent 9 nights at this lovely home in central Santa Fe. Perfect for walking everywhere, to the plaza, railyard, movies and shops. We had a car so could travel out further and there is plenty of off street parking. The layout of the house works. The 2 sitting rooms gave us space to have quiet time if one of us didn't want to watch TV and the bedrooms have a door leading off the quiet sitting room, perfect if one gets up early or goes to bed late without disturbing the household. The kitchen is a perfect size, leading onto a dining room and well stocked. All in all a cosy yet roomy house with a sunny back garden. We will definitely be rebooking this little gem.

Owner's Response: Sue....I am so happy you enjoyed your stay at my home recently. I believe you are correct,... the layout of the home is one of the things that initially attracted me to this property. It provides guests with plenty of open, light-filled space, while at the same time a great degree of privacy between the various areas of the home. Thanks for your comments and I'm pleased to hear you are considering returning. You are welcome any time!
Perry.

Lovely Santa Fe Home

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed for a month in this lovely home, well situated between the Plaza and the Railyard District, making it a comfortable walk to both areas for museums, restaurants, art movies, music and lectures, and the Farmer's Market. You can walk to catch the New Mexico Road Runner Express train to Albuquerque. Food markets are an easy drive.
This Santa Fe home is spacious and comfortable with lots of natural light. Loved the well equipped and efficiently designed modern kitchen. There was a nice library of books and videos for adults and children. We also enjoyed the ambience of the Southwest art and pottery. The home was spotless. We appreciated having the sample toiletries. You don't need to bring umbrellas as they were provided as well. The garden is beautifully landscaped which includes pear, apple, and cherry trees. We were lucky to have the apple tree ready to be picked.
Perry, the new owner, has been a pleasure to work with. We are looking forward to our return trip next year.

Owner's Response: Carole....I am so pleased you enjoyed your month in Santa Fe, as well as staying at my home. Thanks for your kind comments regarding the accommodations, as well as its close proximity to nearly everything in Santa Fe. It really is ideally located for those wanting to experience everything that Santa Fe has to offer! I am happy to hear you were able to use lots of the apples from the apple tree in the yard for baking and cooking. I am thrilled that you will be coming back to stay the same time next year. I love repeat renters. Thanks for posting your review.

Wonderful Santa Fe rental

  • 5 of 5
This 2 bedroom house is a cozy, nice rental property in Santa Fe. It is very near the Sanbusco Center, Zia Diner, and other shopping but also easily walkable to the plaza (about 4 - 5 blocks). Everything in the house was comfortable, nice, and clean. The kitchen is well-equipped. It was too cold to use the yard but that looked lovely for use during warm weather. We enjoyed both relaxing in the living room and movies in the family room. It's a lovely place to stay!

Lovely, well appointed home in perfect neighborhood

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed in this home for a week. The house was perfect for us, but would work for a family or 2 couples. The house is really nicely decorated and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals at home. The backyard is very nice too with plenty of seating and a nice table with umbrella for outdoor dining. And the location could not be better -- walking distance to most of the attractions in Santa Fe - museums, galleries, restaurants. We will definitely come back to this home on any future visits to Santa Fe.
