About Kathleen Ford

We chose this area because we love all of the outdoor activities and wonderful scenery. We live on the coast and love exploring the Mountains when ever possible!

Mike and Janice

Kathleen Ford purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Kathleen Ford chose Bryson City

When you arrive and pull up to this cabin, you will see why this is 'The One'! The views are captivating...

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin offers over 50 acres of hiking trails just outside of the front door! Along the hiking trails, you will encounter a pasture where we often see deer, and several ponds (the largest pond has bass, brim, catfish, and more)... The N.O.C. is 5 min. up the road!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Guest Book Word for Word quote: I can not even begin to tell you how much we enjoyed the Cabin. It is cozy, beautiful, loved the Hot Tub (The boys loved the gameroom). On our adventures here we started at the Polar Express Train Ride! This was Great!!!!! Went river fishing - my Husband caught a 22 inch rainbow trout. It was unreal, the Boys wanted to fish the rest of the day. We went to GSMNP and it was the first time the boys saw snow and ice, Wow, were they excited! Thank You for your hospitality, we enjoyed everything and we will be back.

The kids wrote a little note of their own that said "The Big screen TV and reclining sofa were extra comfy"

Picture Perfect!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time in this cabin that will leave you with the feeling of pure relaxation. There were many things to enjoy but the balcony will be the most memorable because after we left she is now my lovely fiancée. This cabin was a great deal and a cherished memory.

Owner's Response: Dear Guests: What a fantastic review of Up, Up and Away and what a great way to start the season off with such kind words from one of our first guests! It has been a long winter for a lot of people, and we are so glad that you were able to get away and enjoy our “cozy home away from home” in the Smoky Mountains. We are especially excited that you got a good view of those mountains! We just had the bank cleared off so the view will be extra good this year. We hope that you will be able to come back and visit us again! Thanks Janice and Mike

Hard to Beat!

  • 5 of 5

Honestly my only concern during our whole stay was, "How are we ever going to top this?!?" The house was lovely, immaculately clean, with a very well-equipped kitchen, and just as pictured. The view was amazing. We felt the location was perfect, far enough from civilization to feel like a real getaway, but close enough to stores, services and plenty of great hiking so that we didn't have to spend a lot of time in the car.

Great View, Great Cabin, Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a long weekend at Up, Up, and Away. What a relaxing place! The view just simply cannot be beat at this price. It is breathtaking. The home was clean, with a fully stocked kitchen, all you have to bring is food. We built a fire and made smores. They provide all the tools you need and have firewood for sale for a reasonable price. We've stayed at this cabin before and noticed this time that there have been some new upgrades done. It appeared the shower is new and the sink and light fixtures. Also there is now a new privacy fence around the hot tub, which is a nice touch. We love this house and will definitely stay again in the future!

It’s so great to snuggle in around a warm fire and enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons! Thank you for noticing the updates to the cabin, which have all been done with our guests comfort in mind. Thanks again for choosing Up, Up, and Away and we hope you will be a regular visitor. Janice and Mike

We really enjoyed our stay at Up, Up and Away.

No complaints here for our family of 5 plus our dog. Although you are in the middle of two other cabins, privacy was never a problem. There were plenty of spots to walk your dog too - just up the hill was a big field. I enjoyed the exercise. Yes, the last part of the road was a bit adventurous - luckily we never came across another car - but this all leads to the amazing views. The location of the cabin is prime for enjoying all this area has to offer: including going to highest point in the Smoky Mountains (Clingman's Dome), the highest hiking path in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Waterrock Knob), Cherokee's Un To These Hills Outdoor Theatre presentation, and just a bit further to Biltmore Estate. And literally minutes away is Paddle Inn White Water Rafting Company that gave us an awesome guided ride on the river. Be sure to enjoy your time at the cabin too - game room, hot tub and fire pit were great. We would definitely recommend Up, Up and Away.

We hope you will come back and stay with us again and make some more memories in the Smoky Mountains! Janice and Mike

Perfect!

This rental will meet all your needs and more! It's an outstanding price for what you get.. 10 million times better than staying at a hotel. The view was breathtaking, I wanted to sit on the porch all day long, but of course there are too many activities around you to do that! An awesome outfitters (NOC) is right down the road, you can't beat it! My only complaint is that it does not offer wireless internet.. yes, I know, it's vacation... but no internet is an inconvenience in this day in age. However, the amenities that this place offers more than makes up for it - I promise!

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, we are so glad that you had such a wonderful stay at Up, Up and Away and that you enjoyed the area so much. All of your complimentary remarks confirmed how we feel about the cabin and the area. That view is amazing! When Mike and I arrive for visits, we just sit in the driveway for a little while and look at the view, and when we have to leave, we sit in the driveway and wish we didn’t have to leave the view! Thanks again for your enthusiastic review and please come back and visit us again! Janice and Mike
