4 bedrooms, 1 master suite, sleeps 8, 2 1/2 baths, 3 decks Lake and woods view

Drive through our beautiful woods to our secluded Rustic cabin on a eastern back bay of Lake Ontario. Located just outside of historic Sackets Harbor New York. This has been our casual family 'camp' for over 30 years. It has 300' of waterfront with a 15' dock. Bring your medium to small size boat, or we have a canoe. You can row out to the surrounding islands to swim. We love to bird watch here. Many Blue Herons, ducks and sometimes This year a pair of Bald eagles are nesting on the property. We have a pair of white swans that come back very year. Kids will love to fish off the dock.If you have a boat, it is a great place to fish.

Enjoy the village of Sackets Harbor, the War of 1812 was fought here and there are many historical buildings to wander by in town. There are also many top quality restaurants in the village and also a wonderful brewery. The kids can go to Old Macdonalds Farm where they can pet and feed animals. Golf courses are close by.Canada is 45 minutes

House Rules: It is your responsibility for your safety while on our property. Any injuries incurred while there are strictly your responsibility. Any damages you incur, will be taken out of your deposit. Cleaning fee will also come out of your deposit if necessary. We are on a septic system so be careful with water use. There is a grocery store in town to buy your own wood for the fireplace. NO outdoor fires please.

There is absolutely NO smoking in the house.

We hope that you will have a pleasant stay

Please provide your own linens and towels. We may be able tp provide linens for a $50 fee

Other things...: If you are there at the right time, you will find wild grapes and Blackberries up the road.

There is a old Battlefield across the road, sometimes you can find old bullets and arrowheads.

A great week

A comfortable home, nice to have a "master" bedroom with bath separate from the other two bedrooms. we brought kayaks and could launch them from the shore. very quiet. great views. A good kitchen (my advice is always bring your favorite kitchen items - we wish we had brought our electric griddle, but it is not reasonable to expect a kitchen with all the things you are used to at home.

Sackets Harbor is a lovely village with many nice restaurants. You are close enough to a Hannafords, Target, et. al if that is important, but not so close you know they are there. If you forgot something at home, you are in luck.

Close to Westcott State Beach for good lake swimming. There are swimming beaches you can reach by kayak or small oared boat. The water in Muskellunge Bay is quite shallow.

Great views from the deck. Really quiet during the week. Just the sound of some house building one day.

Do bring your drinking water.

All in all, it exceeded our expectations.

A great week with the family.

If I write too many more nice things, well, you won't believe me.

Nice, Quiet Lake Front Cottage

This lovely 2 story cottage was a nice place to stay with my family. It is a few miles down the road around the corner from Sackets Harbor 15 minutes from Watertown. There are plenty of beds and bathrooms. Bedrooms upstairs and downstairs. Master Bath is off the Master Bedroom. Large living room with comfortable furnishings - Very relaxed. Plenty of seating. 2 Lofts are great for a retreat for the kids.
Kitchen is small, however, it has any gadget or amenity needed and plenty of pots and pans for cooking.
Love the deck overlooking the lake and there is a screened in porch off the master.
There is a dock leading to the lake and we loved the canoe. There are no life preservers, so bring your own for children and non-swimmers. The lake is beautiful with many water birds and the entire area was very quiet when we were there. Very wooded area and enjoyed walking along the gravel road leading to the cottage along the lake. The fireflies were absolutely magical at night.
The only drawback is the faucet water comes from a well and has a strong sulfur odor. I am unsure if it was treated with chlorine (I think I detected chlorine the first couple days) therefore that may account for a yellowish coloring. The owners do have a fresh drinking water cooler that takes 5 gallon containers which can be purchased from the grocery. Linens were extra for rent. The cottage was clean, but not sparkling clean. Lake living includes dirt, so spiders, bugs, and dirt can be expected.
We enjoyed the Sackets Harbor Brew House in the village for dinner and brew, delicious but a little pricey. Couldn't beat the $2 pints between 5 and 7 on July 4th!
Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! We have spoken to our caretaker and he is going to be extra careful in cleaning from now on. We are also working to fix the water. We will continue to have bottled water availible!
We do have life jackets, they are in our shed.
