Located on the mountain in the Diamond Hitch neighborhood of Big Sky/Moonlight Basin, this elegant home features 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, an open and spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling moss rock fireplace, massive reclaimed wood beams, and magnificent views. The large main floor master suite has a vaulted ceiling, private covered deck and large sitting room. Two additional large bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, are located off of the main living area. The second floor houses two more large bedrooms and a large family/rec room, making this the perfect home to entertain family and friends. The kitchen features gorgeous granite countertops, top of the line appliances and a full set of cooking gear and utensils. The three car garage has plenty of room for gear. Ski in from the Blue Moon trail and ski out to either the Iron Horse (Big Sky resort) or Pony Express (Moonlight Basin resort) lifts. Soak in the large outdoor hot tub after a hard day of skiing.

Summer: Summer is beautiful in Montana, and sitting on the back porch enjoying the outdoor fireplace is a great way take in the views. In addition to local hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting and fly fishing, Big Sky is only 18 miles from Yellowstone National Park, and about 1 hour to the West Yellowstone entrance.

  • The house very comfortably accommodates 2 families. There are 3 bedrooms (each with its own bathroom) on the main floor - a master and a guest master for adults, and a bedroom with a bunk and a trundle bed (sleeps four). Upstairs is a large game room with TV and 2 bedrooms that share a large bathroom. One bedroom has a bunk bed with a queen on the lower bunk, the other bedroom is a large “bunk room” that has 2 bunk beds. It works out very well to kids upstairs while the adults enjoy the main living space.

Wonderful View and More

My family and I have previewed many Diamond Hitch properties over the seasons. This one has the best view and value. We had two families ski the Atlanta spring break week and stay in the house. The kids had one part of the house and the adults remained on the main floor.

Everything we needed to cook in or share a meal with others was available, including a well stocked pantry of staples. An Ipod hook up for the main floor ambient sound and decent wi-fi were available. The view was spectacular though. No house on Half Hitch can beat it. Both masters have a private porch to take it in.

The property manager was terrific about scrapping the drive or answering any questions we might have. We had about 2 feet of snow over the week so Big sky/ Moonlight powder was plentiful. Before we left, we asked for a reservation next year. That is how sold we were on the property.

This house was designed and built by an artisan with singular attention to every detail. The large rooms, high ceilings, panoramic windows, and expansive decks perfectly complement the spaciousness of the area. We were shocked by how quiet the house is - heavy insulation and radiant heat contributing to a sense of peace that brought the serenity of the outdoors into focus. The natural stone, reclaimed wood, and comfortable furnishings provided a cozy elegance that is incomparable. One favorite spot is the great room with its massive stone fireplace and wall of windows providing a breathtaking view of the mountains. Extraordinary home, unforgettable vacation. We concur with the previous reviews and want to add that the owners are prompt and professional in every way, making the rental process a breeze.

Outstanding Home in Big Sky

This home is much more beautiful than we were expecting -- the photos don't really do it justice. First class all the way. We have been doing a guys ski trip now for 22 years -- renting homes at ski resorts all over the West. We all agreed this was our best house. The ski in/out is very easy to both Big Sky and Moonlight Basin and good instructions about how to do it were provided. Can't imagine a house in Big Sky/Moonlight Basin with better veiws. We planned to eat out every night, but the house was so nice we decided to stay home and have dinner cooked for us in the house. I highly recomend Robin at bigskyprivatechef.com. She did the shopping and the cooking for our group of 8 and the cost was very reasonable. We will definitly want to stay here on our next trip to Big Sky.

Fantastic Ski Week

Our group of 10 skiers stayed at this amazing house for 6 days in Feb. 2011. The house is beautiful with panoramic mountain views. It is extremely comfortable and has everything you need for a great vacation. The ski in/out was a breeze. Would love to return again some day.

Wow, what a place. We stayed in this home in August, and it is simply the most beautiful and comfortable place we’ve ever visited. The house is right on the mountain and the views are unbelievable. The house is very well provisioned with kitchen items, soap, towels, etc., which is a pet peeve for us, and all of the living areas and bedrooms are quite large. We had another family with us and there was plenty of space to spread out and find private spots. The kids enjoyed making smores on the back deck fireplace. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at the Moonlight Basin Lodge – you can walk to it from the house if you don’t mind walking uphill on the way home. We highly recommend this house and will rent it again when we return to Big Sky.
