Located on the mountain in the Diamond Hitch area of Big Sky/Moonlight Basin, this beautiful home features 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, an open and spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling moss rock fireplace, massive reclaimed wood beams, and magnificent views. The large first floor master suite has a vaulted ceiling, private covered deck and large sitting room. Two other large bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, are located off of the main living area. The second floor houses two more large bedrooms and a large family/rec room, making this the perfect home to entertain family and friends. The kitchen features gorgeous granite countertops, top of the line appliances and a full set of cooking gear and utensils. The three car garage has plenty of room for gear, as well as a wall of boot warmers to keep your ski boots toasty. Ski in from the Blue Moon trail and ski out to either the Iron Horse (Big Sky resort) or Pony Express (Moonlight Basin resort) lifts

  • The house very comfortably accommodates 2 families. There are 3 bedrooms (each with its own bathroom) on the main floor - a master and a guest master for adults, and a bedroom with a bunk and a trundle bed (sleeps four). The upstairs area, which is over the 3-car garage, has a large game room with TV and 2 bedrooms that share a large bathroom. One bedroom has a bunk bed with a queen on the lower bunk, the other bedroom is a large “bunk room” that has 2 bunk beds. It works out very well to kids upstairs while the adults enjoy the main living space.

Summer: Summer is beautiful in Montana, and sitting on the back porch enjoying the outdoor fireplace is a great way take in the views. In addition to local hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting and fly fishing, Big Sky is only 18 miles from Yellowstone National Park, and about 1 hour to the West Yellowstone entrance.

Ski: The Diamond Hitch location straddles both the Big Sky and Moonlight Basin resorts. Ski out to either the Iron Horse (Big Sky) or Pony Express (Moonlight Basin) lifts. Ski in from the Blue Moon ski run. You can snow shoe (provided) to the Moonlight lodge as well.

Golf: There is a public golf course in the Big Sky meadow village, just down the mountain from the house.

Other Activities: Kayaking, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Wildlife, Hiking, Rock Climbing

Wow, what a place. We stayed in this home in August, and it is simply the most beautiful and comfortable place we’ve ever visited. The house is right on the mountain and the views are unbelievable. The house is very well provisioned with kitchen items, soap, towels, etc., which is a pet peeve for us, and all of the living areas and bedrooms are quite large. We had another family with us and there was plenty of space to spread out and find private spots. The kids enjoyed making smores on the back deck fireplace. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at the Moonlight Basin Lodge – you can walk to it from the house if you don’t mind walking uphill on the way home. We highly recommend this house and will rent it again when we return to Big Sky.

Spectacular Vacation Home

The views from this beautifully located and impeccably cared for home were breathtaking. We felt like we were in another world. The architecture in terms of the stone and wood work were so in tune with the surroundings and the layout of the house was perfect. The kids could be in one area, while the grown ups could be in another. Very comfortable for all! In addition, the beds were comfy, the kitchen easy to work in and there was plenty of space to relax. Perfect!
We were there in the summer and were able to enjoy many activities, from white water rafting, to hiking [up to the snow line!], to golf, to swimming, to tennis. We also went to Yellow Stone Park, where we experienced more beautiful landscape, wild animals, geisers and Ol' Faithful.
We had a wonderful vacation and can't wait to go back to this home!

A PERFECT PLACE TO STAY

What an incredibly beautiful house this is, and the views are absolutely stunning. We had 5 adults and 4 children, and house set up was perfect, with the adults down stairs and the children upstairs.

This was our first time to Big Sky in the summer and we had a blast rafting, horseback riding at Moonlight, and hiking around on the various trails. We also drove down and spent a day in Yellowstone National Park, which was very neat. Our favorite time of day was late afternoon when we would enjoy a glass of wine on the back porch while overlooking the mountain range. It’s so quiet up there it felt as though we were in another world.

We will return in the winter for some skiing.

Over-the-top Comfort and Beauty

How do you describe the perfect ski trip? I'd start with an exclusive resort area that's unspoiled yet easy to get to. I'd want accommodations that were beyond any expectations. A setting that's breath-taking. And of course, easy on and easy off access to unlimited slopes. Well, we got all that on our trip this year to this Big Sky Mountain Retreat. OMG. Can't wait to go again!

Wonderful Mountainside Home with Incomparable View

My family loved our stay at this beautifully decorated mountain home. We visited during the winter and took advantage of the ski in/ski out feature. We would ski home for lunch or just to warm up. The spacious house allowed my large family to spread out and really feel like we were on vacation. The beds were tremendously comfortable and all of the appliances were in perfect working order. Although we enjoyed trying out the great local restaurants, the kitchen was so well appointed, cooking was easy and we stayed in several nights. One of my favorite aspects of the house, though, was the fabulous view. I believe the house has the best view on the mountain. There are no other houses obscuring its view of the adjoining mountainside which is particularly stunning at night when the lodge lights are lit. We all really enjoyed our stay and hope to return to Big Sky and this house soon.
