Things to do: General Activities: Go to the Garrett Chamber website and hit the “events” tab. Antiquing: visit Oakland's “old town” 12 miles south of Con 219. See esp the old 5 & dime with soda fountain. Visit Swallow Falls (half day)----beautiful short forest hiking and tallest waterfall in MD; 15 min drive from house---must do. Dining: see “The Mountainside Creamery” for ice cream; on 219 between arrowhead & mchenry----best in the world. On Saturday afternoons go to Honi Honi in arrowhead for regular outside band jam and picnic on the lawn. Several good restaurants in arrowhead and Mchenry (Unos, Blacks, Sante Fe, Will O the Wisp, the Silvertree). Other: Visit Funland (mini golf, go carts, arcades, batting cages, etc), also Wisp Mtn has a rollercoaster. All are in mchenry; 15 min north on 219. Visit the Deep Creek Lake State Park for the beach, hiking trails, and the Nature Center. See the 6 screen movie theatre in Arrowhead for first run movies.

Renting boats, Waterski lessons, babysitters: You might want to rent a pontoon or ski boat for a few days or a week; if so call bills marine asap (ask owner for contact info) and make reservations. If you want a great water skiing instructor, email me & I ll get you greg’s number. If you need babysitters, let me know, I ll get you some names of the girls we use.

Fishing & kayaking: Deep Creek offers trout, bass, croppies, even pike. Locals love to fish by our dock. Good lake fishing maps/ bait at bills marine fishing store on 219 just north of arrowhead (the intersection of Glendale & 219; mid lake). You can launch fishing boats from the state park for $10. You can catch plenty of fish off Carefree Cove's dock. Kayaking: The man-made, Olympic quality Adventure Sports Center on top of Wisp mountain is the best. Visit the Adventure Sports Center website. Its one of the best kayaking facilities in the world.
