Very comfortable and fully equipped, directly off Highway 25-70, five miles from Hot Springs, NC where the Appalachian Trail intersects, and just 25 miles north of downtown Asheville. Laurel River Retreat sits on the bank of the scenic Laurel River in a 110 acre undeveloped forest. Secluded and serene, this is a place to hike, fish for trout, watch birds, sit on the large screened porch, patio or front deck and read, meditate, be. For those who enjoy nature, the forest, birds, wildlife, and the mountain climate. The house is located in a river gorge, canopied in trees and sits on a hill overlooking the Laurel River.

Location: Laurel River Retreat is well known locally for its magnificent setting, on a hill overlooking the Laurel River in undeveloped forest. The Laurel River Trail along the river is at the bottom of the hill and runs for three miles to where the Laurel intersects with the French Broad River. This is one of the most popular and beautiful trails in the region. It is literally at the front door of Laurel River Retreat.

Hot Springs: Hot Springs is a charming little town just 10 minutes drive from Laurel River Retreat. It is one of the few cities in America intersected by the Appalachian Trail. Visitors from all over world pass through the town as they hike the trail. It offers three nice restaurants, a hiking/camp store and several good hardware stores. It is famous for the Hot Springs Spas, a real treat for visitors - clean, well run and affordable. Hot Springs also has a medical clinic.

Asheville: Asheville, NC is a scenic 40 minute drive from Laurel River Retreat. This is a jewel in the mountains. It has many fine restaurants, antique shops, theaters, malls, and shops and large Many people enjoy visiting the Biltmore mansion and grounds. Asheville is also nationally known for its many fine art galleries.

We took a chance on this property since it had no prior reviews.....and boy am I glad we did! It's just as described, very secluded and hidden in the woods, basically built into the side of a mountain overlooking the river. We opened the windows at night and nature delivered us the best nites of sleep we've all had in awhile. Loved the nature trail that ran a couple of miles alongside the river. Owner was very helpful with any questions.......would highly recommend!
