Sorry I forgot to review this location earlier. The owner is very friendly. The house was somewhat clean when we arrived. Clean enough for men or people who don't care about cleanliness. We had to clean before we could spend the night and the cleaning person was leaving as we arrived.
We only stayed two nights and then we were given our money back. The non-stop dog barking of the neighbors was more than we could take.
The new video on the site is great. The owner really takes fantastic pictures and views so that you can't see some things that are really there. There is a house next to this property that is very close, but not viewed in any pictures. The interior looks a lot newer than what it really is as well.
The bunkbeds were propped together and kind of dangerous if children were sleeping in them if they jumped on the beds.
The floors ere not even and walking was difficult for my daughter who has health issues.
The views from the water were great and it was very remote. If I were a fisherman and wanted to spend time fishing, this would be a great place to be. It sleeps a lot of people. It is well stocked and from my past experience of brothers...they would have been in heaven in a place like this...but for people from the city just wanting a nice quiet place to sleep...this wasn't it.
Owner's Response: I appreciate the comments about me being friendly. I will address all issues of my property. It is unusual to address comments from a stay approx. 1 year ago. In general, the house is a pier/beam house that has been remodeled and annually has projects done to it. It is not the Four Seasons, but my rates do not reflect Four Seasons rates either. Please don’t expect to pay a “Silver” rate and check into a “Platinum” place. More specifically, first and foremost, an agreement has been worked out with the neighbor about the dogs. Several devices are in place that suppresses dog barking. The neighbor is now very cognizant of her dogs barking and disturbing the peace of my guests. Regarding the customer’s comments about the place not being clean, I am truly sorry that her standards were not met. Whenever I use or check on the property, the maid has done a thorough job of cleaning. I am continually working with the maid to ensure a clean place. Next, thank you for the comments on the video, which was created to promote my Vacation Rental property and not my neighbors (which is not a vacation rental property). My property is a bayhouse in a platted subdivision. It is not without neighbors (see other reviews stating how nice the neighbors are). Two sides of my property are waterfront and therefore I have only 1 real neighbor since the back of the house fronts the back street. The neighbor’s house is approximately 25 feet from my house, not any closer or further than any of the other neighborhood houses, and this is the only guest that has commented about the location of the house next door. Next, none of my bunkbeds are designed to be jumped on & children should not jump on them. That does not make them unsafe. At the time of the stay of the guest, my 5 year old daughter slept on the top bunks and I had no safety concerns about her doing so. Lastly, given the customer’s daughter’s health or special needs concerns, I wish she would have asked about the floors prior to her booking the place. From the living area into the hall and kitchen, there is a small change in elevation (<1 inch). They are marked with a transition threshold. I apologize that her daughter was not able to safely step up or down over those < 1 inch transition thresholds. Given the condition of her daughter’s health, perhaps a bayhouse on the Texas coast (of any type) is not the best option for her lodging requirements. Given my amenities, this is the best value in Corpus.
