Guestbook comments from the owner
Just wanted to thank you again for such a great stay. You are amazing hosts. We were most appreciative of your warmth, kindness and the "little touches" such as the email to let us know about the RCMP musical ride. Your home was very well appointed and it was a great place to sit back, visit and relax. MTrawick and 7 friends.

EXCELLENT VALUE AND GREAT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Drumheller area. The house was immaculate . It is superbly equipped with everything including multiple games and movies. This house will easily accommodate a large family. The owner, Kathy was extremely helpful .The location is excellent in a quaint small town only a short drive from the museum. We are already planning our next visit back to the area and hope to stay again at this house.

WOW - FANTASTIC HOUSE FOR FAMILY GET TOGETHERS

  • 5 of 5
This rental has been a wonderful experience from the very first contact with the owner. This house far exceeded my expectations. With the 3 floors, 5 BR and 3 Bathrooms this is a great house for get-togethers. There were 12 of us (6 adults and 6 children) and this house worked perfectly for us. Kathy made sure there were plenty of chairs and all the beds were ready and waiting. Because we were actually planning an early Christmas (my husband and I head south for the winter), Kathy even put up a Christmas tree for us.
The house is well equipped and many shelves and drawers are labeled making it easy to find items and return them to the same place. All 12 of us were able to sit at the table and the sectional couches made for great gathering areas. Lots of DVDs and games for all to watch and play.
The house was clean and inviting. The beds were all very comfortable and the antiques clocks are a nice touch. Not to worry they don't chime. Plenty of towels and hot water too.
The house is close to a playground for the kids and there is a bar that does serve food within walking distance. Close to the Hoodoos and an easy 15 min drive to Drumheller and all it has to offer.
I highly recommend this property to anyone! We hope to be back again.

RENTERS BEWARE

  • 1 of 5
Contrary to countless positive reviews, I regrettably had a very unsatisfactory stay on the September long weekend of 2013. We arrived at the residence after 4 pm as directed, to find the premises absolutely filthy. The house itself is large, quaint and accommodated our party of 13 but the physical condition was very disappointing for a "5 star" accommodation, as noted by previous renters. The cleaning person could not have cleaned after the previous tenants as dirt, dust, grime, dead bugs and hair was throughout the house. Toilets, sinks, showers and tub were clearly not cleaned. Crackers and lint on the carpet would indicate they were not vacuumed. Hair and crumbs in the refrigerator, coffee cup ring stains on the counter and sticky kitchen floors all indicate as substandard clean which did NOT lend to an outstanding guest experience. I contacted the owner (Kathy) to express our dissatisfaction and she did not acknowledge nor apologize for the uncleanly state of her property. I asked to negotiate a reasonable discount off the final rental amount, however, the owners arbitrarily debited our Visa less a VERY MINISCULE amount. If you choose to rent this property, beware!

Owner's Response: First when someone is trying to sort out a problem one must be a good listener and not overtalk while owner is trying to take care of the problem. One deals directly with the owner and doesn't carry it over to the neighbors in which rentor was told they have never had any complaints and everyone loves the place and they know owners will make it right. One doesn't phone up the cleaning staff or bring a total stranger through the house to continue on. This situation was recleaned to rentors likings and okayed by rentor in order to please rentor. However this simple situation went on all long weekend by the rentor demanding on us. Once again we let her know we will talk to all parties now that she has involved and come to a conclusion. Once again overtalking us when we are trying to talk. We wanted to see how this person left our house at checkout to make our final and fair evaluation and they left our place leaving us extremely disappointed as we were expecting the floors to be shining and everything spotless. In conclusion we did try to make it right however when sorting out a problem be a good listener and be greatful the owners showed up to correct the problem that you felt you had. We will continue to offer a great place for guests to stay at a reasonable price and yes from past reviews we score 5/5 and will continue to score these reviews and continue to please our guests.

4 DAY WHIRLWIND DRUMHELLER & AREA VACATION

4 day Whirlwind Drumheller & Area Vacation
  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for 4 nights. We had our 5 kids (ages 3, 8, 12, 14, & 16) as well as my parents-in-law for a total of 9 people. This house was amazing. It fit us very well, everyone had lots of space. We did use every bed except the baby fold-out playpen bed. The kids loved the games, movies, and running around space. It was the space that made us so happy with this house. The kitchen was well stocked. There are no downsides to this house that we could find. We loved it. We met some of the neighbours too and they were very friendly. You cannot get this kind of atmosphere in a hotel. You are about 15 min from Drumheller and the Atlas Coal Mine and HooDoo's are right in East Coulee. There are so many attractions as long as you have a vehicle. I have stayed in 2 different VRBO rentals now, one in Alberta and the other in Manitoba and both occasions were fantastic. I would highly recommend this rental and the VRBO company to any travellers.

PERFECT SETUP

  • 5 of 5
We came to Drumheller for a family reunion and brought my 80 year old parents. The rest of the family brought tents and RV's and camped at the VooDoo campground which was an awesome campground. The vacation home was only a few miles down the road and had a main floor bedroom directly across from the bathroom which was perfect for my parents. The five bedrooms were great for those who did not own their own camping equipment and it was company for my parents so they did not feel isolated from the rest of the family. One family came at short notice with a baby so the upstairs bedrooms were perfect for them.
The biggest drawback was the limit of 20 minutes a day to run the A/C. It was very hot and the 20 min. did nothing to cool the house down. Might as well take the A/C out and install some fans as it was quite unbearable some days. Thankfully it cooled off some at nights but the people sleeping upstairs did not get the breeze that we did and were uncomfortable. The many stairs to the house were difficult for my parents to maneauver and a ramp would have been really nice. Other drawbacks were minor but a bit irritating like not enough waste paper baskets and a very limited supply of toilet paper for a full house. With no grocery store in town it was inconvenient..The kitchen was well stocked with more than just the basics and it was a large enough house that one evening, the whole clan came to visit during a storm and we all fit!
The owners were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. I would definitely recommend this properyt to others travelling in the area and if our travels ever bring us back to the area, would definitely stay again. The house is beautiflully appointed with many antiques and family heirlooms. The house was clean and well maintained. We also enjoyed the area attractions like the dinaseur museum, Wayne, voodoos, etc. I loved the antique shops.

PERFECT!!

  • 5 of 5
Positives:
- SIZE (Huge! We had a group of 10, including 3 children and had room to spare!)
- LOCATION (Close to everything you would want to see/do in Drumheller and East Coulee and so very peaceful at night with crickets singing you to sleep!)
- COST (One of the most affordable rental out there! Would have never expected to find such a good deal on a place that is so beautiful!)
- CONTENTS OF HOUSE (Gorgeous and playful antiques! Everything you would need in the kitchen/bedrooms/bathrooms AND tons of current movies and games with lots of seating for a fun movie night - one night after sightseeing we had a bbq and then wrapped ourselves up in blankets and had smores & popcorn and watched movies - so fun!)
- OWNERS (So friendly and generous! Great communication! Even assured us we wouldn't have to bring our own crib/playpen as they had one available!)

Negatives:
- None. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. (Wish we could have stayed longer!!) :)
