Lone Star Cottage was completely renovated in 2009! You have the whole house, all on one floor with no stairs. Walk to the beach, only a block away. Fully-fenced private back yard with outdoor shower and firepit, big deck in front with grill and picnic table. Off-street parking for 2 cars. Easy access to all the amenities of Dewey Beach and the Jolly Trolley to the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. Cape Henlopen State Park and the ferry to Cape May, NJ are only 15 minutes away in Lewes.

The Lone Star Cottage is located one block from the beach access. Dewey Beach is a natural sandbar community that boasts an ocean on one side of the street and a bay on the other. This area is popular for water sports such as skimboarding, windsurfing, and catamaran sailing. Sunsets over the bay provide a romantic atmosphere and enhance the nightlife. Located adjacent to Dewey Beach is the Delaware Seashore State Park. Here you will find a long stretch of natural beach that offers several areas for four-wheel vehicle access and surf fishing. A popular activity is treasure hunting on the beach with metal detectors.

  • Minimum age of 21 to make a reservation, please. Guests bring their own linens, towels and paper products. Don't forget the beach towels!
  • Check in at 2 PM, check out at 10 AM. Weekly rentals in the summer are Saturday to Saturday. Security/reservation deposit due within 7 days of signed rental agreement; half the rental plus tax due 60 days before arrival; balance due 30 days before arrival.

Dogs: Dewey Beach is pet friendly, and we welcome good dogs and their owners. From May 15 to September 15, dogs are allowed on the beach only before 9:30am and after 5:30pm. During the off-season, there are no hourly restrictions. Your dog must have a special license to be on the beach, which is good for his or her lifetime. You don’t need to be a resident for the license; you can obtain one from the Town of Dewey Beach during regular business hours at 105 Rodney Avenue in Dewey Beach. For dogs, add $50.00 per week each or $10 per night (plus 3% tax) to the rental.

Summer on the Beach : During the summer, the Town of Dewey Beach sponsors family-friendly Movies on the Beach every Monday night and bonfires every Wednesday.

My family and I was very impressed with the rental. We really felt relaxed and at home! I was concerned about the location at first having small children on a main road but it ended up being quite a secure town and police on patrol at all times. The deck in the front wasn't really private but the side porch and fire pit areas were. And the outside shower really came in handy! (Could use a hose to rinse off beach schtuff). The accomodations were phenomenal and beautifully decorated, we will remember our stay for a lifetime! Thank you Ellen, you're the best! I think we are going to become repeat renters!
Owner's Response: I appreciate any suggestions from my guests. I think the hose is a great idea and I'll look into it. The deck does face the road, but that makes it a great place to relax and indulge in people-watching.
