This is a newer home and is perfectly situated 50' off of the beautiful Sturgeon River and walking distance to Trail #7 of the infamous Rails-to-Trails mountain biking and snowmobiling trails. There’s nothing like this 4 bedroom (plus loft), 3 bathroom home in Indian River so close to everything, including:

1. 20 min. from all the Gaylord golf courses, Bay Harbor Golf Club, Boyne Highlands, Little Traverse Bay Golf, Black Lake Golf Club, and Crooked Tree Golf Club

2. 20 min. from Mackinaw City

3. 20 min. from Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and the Odawa Casino

4. 5 min. from the Inland Waterways for boating and jet skiing.

Plus, there's lots of parking space for your boat trailers, campers, motorcycles, and extra vehicles!

Inside Details: This is the perfect home for Northern Michigan enthusiasts looking to live large while on vacation Up North. Holidays, weekends, and weekly trips here will certainly be extra special with your family and friends! The home comes complete with oak hardwood flooring throughout and terra cotta tile in all the wet areas. It has custom-built cabinetry and stainless steel appliances in the chef’s kitchen and a BBQ deck and gas grill just off of the dining area. The main level also has a tidy living area with comfy seating and a 46” flat panel TV (complete with an Onkyo surround sound system) and a main-floor bedroom with a private entrance to the deck overlooking the Sturgeon River and a queen-size Tempur-Pedic mattress for extra comfort . The upstairs is perfect for a couple and at least 4 kids; two in the smaller bedroom and two in the loft overlooking the great room. The upstairs master bedroom has gorgeous views of the Sturgeon River, vaulted ceilings.

Outside Details: Outside, between the home and the river, is a nice lawn to run around on with your dog and a beautiful stone enclosed bonfire pit with firewood and seating provided. Just outside of the walkout, finished lower level is a brick patio with a hot tub for soaking in and relaxing. The home has landscape ground lighting all around the foundation so it is well lit at night while you’re enjoying the late night bonfires at the river. On the deck overlooking the Sturgeon River is a nice picnic table for relaxing, an outdoor dinning set, and a staircase that goes down to the lawn going to the river. In the front of the home is a smaller lawn and driveway as well as another vacant lot for exra parking space for your extra vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. Also in the front is paver patio with a cedar log pergola, picnic table, and gas grill just off of the indoor dining area.

My name is Doug Sidell and I have a passion for life and for what I do! I'm a real estate investor, designer and builder of luxury cedar homes, and representative of buyers purchasing waterfront and mountain property in the Southeast, mostly in North Carolina. My primary residence is in Charlotte, NC and my business is simply named after me: C. Douglas Sidell & Co. I graduated with undergraduate and MBA degrees from Michigan State University and absolutely love following the Spartans in basketball and football. Most of my free time is spent with my wife, Krista, who is a nurse practitioner at Presbyterian Hospital of Charlotte (and an alumnus of The Ohio State University), our son, Noah, and our daughter, Anna. Some of my other free time is spent fly fishing, upland bird hunting with my dog Mitch, golfing, cooking, reading, traveling, kayaking, and working on just about anything around the house.

Doug Sidell purchased this cabin in 2006

I didn't buy my vacation cabin, I built it! It is a home I designed and built in 2006 on the most perfect piece of Sturgeon River property. I chose to buy the land because it is so close to everything that is fun to do in Northern Michigan and because it would enable me to build the type of home I was looking to construct. The finished product is a three-story cabin with a finished, walk-out lower level, a main floor that's set up perfectly for entertaining inside and out, an upstairs that is well-suited for kids and adults, and views of the Sturgeon River just 50' in front of the house. There is a never ending supply of fun things to do; especially for families with children. A few that are really high on my list include: kayaking, fishing, swimming, rafting, canoeing, boating, snowmobiling, biking, hiking, motorcycle riding, X-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, etc. and it's all just outside the front door of my cabin. I love it! I hope you will to.

Some unique benefits I enjoy while staying at my cabin on the river include, but are not limited to: peace and quiet; late-night bon fires at the river; lots of room for all my guests/family members; space for the dogs to run around; going from the sauna to the hot tub over and over; playing some of my favorite golf courses all within a 30 minute drive; cooking/BBQing big meals; watching movies on the big screen TV; listening to the birds early in the morning while drinking coffee on the deck; catching trout right in front of the house; taking advantage of all the freedom!

AWESOME CABIN, GREAT LOCATION, VERY HELPFUL OWNER!

  • 5 of 5
Our family really enjoyed staying at Doug's cabin! It was perfect. We really enjoyed all the fun things to do in the Indian River area. Some of us kayaked, some biked the trails (right close to the cabin), some played golf. The hot tub and sauna were super popular too; sat in both most every night. What was especially meaningful to us is how well-decorated the cabin is with very nice furnishings and all the space. Of course the bonfire pit near the river was relaxing for us, too. We all highly recommend this cabin. The owner was very good to work with as well. Plus we could bring our dogs at no additonal charge!

PURE MICHIGAN

  • 5 of 5
Such a great winter getaway cabin! Our group had a memorable experience and everyone was supremely impressed with the accommodations. The layout of the cabin was perfect for our group of eleven people as we had plenty of space during meal time and socializing afterwards. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and a foot of fresh snow made for ideal skiing and snowboarding conditions.

Doug was very pleasant to work through the booking with and was very helpful with answering any questions I had.

This cabin is certainly a destination spot to consider when planning a trip to northern Michigan. We plan to book again for a summer trip!

SNOWMOBILE TRIP FOR THE FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
We had great access to the snowmobile trails (just around the corner) and the snow was awesome. We took the snowmobiles to dinner up to Indiana River or Topinabee (Breakers was fun!) or down to Wolverine. All had places to eat on the trail.
We built a snowman by the river while the dogs were out with us. And the hottub was a great addition to our annual trip. We ended up skiing for a day too and the drive to Boyne Highlands was convenient. We had plenty of room for our party of 6. The neighborhood was great for talking a walk.

The house was clean and the neighbors that take care of the house were friendly and quick to respond when we needed help to fix a blown fuse. It was nicely shoveled for both vehicles and us walking the dogs out back. House had all the necessary amenities. Owner was quick to respond to question during reservation process. We would stay again when we need a place this size.

FUN FAMILY GETAWAY!!!

  • 5 of 5
Hi Doug,

Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your cabin in Indian River. We all had a great time. There is truly something for everyone there. It was so clean, plenty of sleeping space, a lot of fun things to do, a beautiful setting, a well equipped kitchen, the hot tub and fire pit were a big hit. We range in age from 14-70 plus a five pound dog and all agreed that it was such a great place for a family gathering.

Also, thank you for spending so much time on Saturday with us getting the Dish working. We really appreciated it.

FANTASTIC WINTER HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
My family rented this cabin between Christmas and New Year's 2012. We had a formidable vacation here. The cabin is very spacious and well-maintained. Most of the people in our group went skiing to Nub's, Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain. The drive was not too bad. The view from the living room is wonderful. I guess it must be even prettier in the summer with the river in the back of the cabin. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. In addition, Doug is very organized; a pleasure to deal with.

GREAT OWNER TO WORK WITH.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. SECLUDED,QUIET LOCATION,BUT CLOSE TO TOWN.

  • 5 of 5
I spent a weekend at this wonderful log home with some family. We had plenty of space to relax and enjoy this great Up North retreat. The hot tub and sauna were two highlights of the home.As was the kitchen, that had everything we needed to make meals. The beds were comfortable. There was a full bathroom on each level .Which made it easy for all of us to get ready in the mornings.I believe if I'm going to rent a home.I should be able to contact the owner or manager and have questions or problems taken care of.I've rented places in the past as to where I paid and never hear nothing back from the owner.I just get my deposit back in the mail. This is NOT the case with this home. The owner Doug along with his caretakers of the home were great. Doug had contacted me within a half hour of putting my request in to rent his home on a Sunday night.Doug was right on top of keeping in contact with me right up to the day that I was arriving. And told me I could call him anytime throughout my stay and he would do what he could to answer any questions I might have. His caretakers met me at the home and told me information on it.They lived a short distance away and they also told me to call them at anytime if I had a problem. This was one of the best experiences I had renting a home.I would definitely recommend this place and hopefully be able to enjoy this log home again.
