HUGE PRIVATE NORTH SCOTTSDALE HOME WITH GORGEOUS POOL

I was apprehensive about renting this house after reading the prior review. I hoped the owner had truly addressed the reasonable concerns. I will start by saying the house is in a nice neighborhood and has a nice outdoor area with pool. Unfortunately that is about all the positives we encountered. During our 30 day stay we had numerous problems as listed.......
Garage Door wouldn't open and it took the company three visits and two weeks to figure it out. Garage needs to be cleaned out as it is overpacked with owners belongings.
There was no hot water and had to replace the hot water heater.....couldnt they have checked this before we arrived?
Kitchen was filthy and we had to clean out fridge and freezer from opened milk and other leftover items. The owner said he left it for us to use. Fridge was freezing foods......stove vent never worked and they needed to fix the dishwasher as it was missing a part to hold detergent. The pots and pans were so old that it was difficult to cook.
The pool was murky and it took 3 days to send someone out but still had to pay the full heating bill. We also found out there pool heating system is archaic and a fortune to heat. Management charged us the full deposit amount to heat the pool and when I asked to see the invoice, found out they owed us over $100 which they refunded. The management company is located out of state so made things more difficult to get done. The house has a lot of water damage, windows were filthy and has not been kept up at all. We never felt like it was our home because their kitchen, medicine cabinets and bathroom spaces were so full of their personal products. The master bedroom and bathroom need a major update....awkward tiny shower that you have to step down into and you always knock shower bar down. The mattress and bedding is so old and we had to wash the mattress toppers because they were stained.


We had two visits from maids at 90 minutes each but it only touched the surface. They refused to clean the laundry room because the blinds were full of mold and we actually had to have those removed. We. have stayed in a lot of different winter homes and I have never written a negative comment but felt I needed to share my experience on here. I also find it interesting that two glowing reviews showed up a few days after my review was submitted to VRBO and owner of property.

This was our first VRBO stay and it was wonderful. We WILL be back to stay. The description & photos were great - and fit everything to what was there when we arrived. Location was perfect!! Owner/Helpers were good - any questions or concerns that came up during our month stay were answered. We look forward to being back to stay.

After using VRBO for the 1st time, I don't think we will ever stay in a hotel again. And this home was a great intro to the concept of vacation home rentals. It was affordable, clean and the owner was very responsive. Having our own kitchen, laundry room and pool made our trip with our children so much more enjoyable than a hotel. This home was super kid-friendly and after the kids were in bed, my husband and I could enjoy the sunset, some wine and after dark, the stars were just gorgeous. We noted a few small issues with the pool lighting but after calling the owner, he walked us through getting the lighting turned on. Also, since this was our first trip to a desert, the gal who helps operate the home gave us so many safety tips and places we could take our kids, even though the kids just LOVED being in that pretty pool and spend most of their time swimming. It was a great 4th of July getaway and we can't wait to do it again this year!
