After your fun-filled days of shopping, music, food, and recreation, relax in comfort and quiet. Take a seat outside and watch your neighbors stroll by with dogs, kids, or even a pot-bellied pig. They'll probably smile and say 'hello'. Welcome to Austin, it's that kind of town. We live in this neighborhood, we love this neighborhood. Once you've enjoyed a relaxing stay at the little Red House, we know you will too! Austin Bergstrom Intl. airport is only 15 minutes away ($20 cab ride).

I only wish there were a few more stars I could add to this review. We had an excellent stay at this lovely home. The decor was relaxing, stylish and comfortable and Dani and Joel had also thoughtfully left a basket of toys for our toddler which we appreciated and she enjoyed. All the simple touches made for a wonderful stay and we were in Austin during the 100 degree days and did not feel a hint of it. The neighborhood is so quiet and yet we were able to walk to all the conveniences of SOCO.

I could really go on but overall just want to say this was a real find and we hope we will get a chance to enjoy this home and the hospitality again soon.

Absolute home away from home!

My friend and I rented this super charming cottage for a girls getaway weekend. Everything within walking distance - super cool shops and delicious eateries. Better yet, the house sits inside this awesome little neighborhood - perfect for walking off our yummy dinner from Gueros. If you're looking for a home away from home in South Austin -- this is it!

Thanks so much for a fabulous stay here at the Red House. After a long google search, your house stood out among the crowd. It was so charming, comfortable, and inviting. The spider mums were a delightful touch and your ipod was put to good use - love the variety (great taste!). We will definitely recommend the Red House to friends and family.

Charming Cottage

My husband and I rented this for our little getaway before we met up with my family later in the month. What a delightful home. It is a perfect combination of charm and urbanity. It offers all the comforts and more of an upscale hotel. It might sound cliche but the attention to detail is what sets this location apart from the rest-from a fully loaded ipod with a fine music selection to the sleek and simple loft-nothing was overlooked.
The backyard and it's towering maple tree made a perfect haven for fire-orange and magenta butterflies and brush-tailed squirrels. The large neighborhood cat would lazily stroll across the front yard in no rush to get to his destination across the street. Even the neighbors were friendly as they jogged past or pushed their little ones in their strollers.
Couldn't have asked for a better location. Anything you could possibly want is within a short walk. And, a personal favorite, I must add is the "Hey Cupcake" wagon a couple of blocks up.
The owners are sweet and accomodating. We had a small wrinkle in our vacation(self-inflicted unfortunately). I emailed the owners at midnight for a request and less than 10 minutes later I had received a response.
This was just what we needed before we met up with tons of family. A chance to take in the sights during the day and slow down and put our feet up in the evening. Can't wait to return next year!

Love the Red House!

Thanks again for letting our crew stay in your funky house. You can't beat the South Congress area for a vacation to Austin. The weather was perfect, we enjoyed the walk to Congress street restaurants and stores. The kitchen was well stocked and provided everything we needed for our home-cooked meals. The beds were AMAZING!!! This is one of the coolest places to stay in Austin!
