My family had a trip to Mexico planned for the first week of May that we had to cancel on short notice due to the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu). Needless to say we were extremely disappointed, but still wanted to take a family vacation. We began are search for a beach front resort in FL that could comfortably accommodate 3 adults and 2 children.
What we found in this unit exceeded our expectations the moment we drove up to the resort and then we were blown away by the view of the Gulf through the front door. The unit is immaculately decorated and clean. I was as comfortable as our home. The owner was extremely easy to work with. We completed the transaction over the internet and they keys were over-nighted to us. We were even able to rent a full-size crib for our 22-month old from the cleaning service.
We often ate our meals on the large, oceanfront balcony. The grill was used every evening for dinner. The kitchen is well stock with the basic essentials for cooking and eating in. One note of caution: Don’t leave the balcony doors open while grilling. The smoke will be sucked into the unit if the front door is opened.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable and there are flat screen TVs and every BR. 2 of the 3 BR have a DVD player. There is also a large flat screen TV in the family room along with a DVD player.
The pool and beach are both gorgeous and well maintained. You are able to rent chairs or umbrellas on the beach if you do not bring your own. We opted to rent a cabana for the week, which was nice for seeking shelter from the FL sun.
We did rent a car for the week, but only drove it to the grocery store which is about 3 miles from the resort. There are certainly small stores where you can buy the basics, but if you plan to cook most meals like we did, you will likely want to make a trip to the Publix store.
If you opt for eating out, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance. If you are interested in the night life, there are also plenty of choices within walking distance. No need to worry about a designated driver…..everyone can have fun without the extra cost of a taxi. There is also miniature golf and the pier within walking distance.
I cannot think of one thing I would change. We could definitely rent this unit again and recommend it to friends.
