First I have to tell you what a wonderful place Casa Dena is! Halfway thru our trip I asked my husband what his highlight was so far. We both agreed it was the house! We had stayed all over that coast, it's been our only vacation destination for about 17 years. We've stayed at all inclusives, boutique hotels, condos, guest houses and your house is the best of any of them all in one! It was perfect. A bit large for the two of us but thank you for letting just the 2 of us stay. Loved the location because Akumal and Tulum are our favorite spots. It was great being in the middle of both, we headed one way or the other everyday. We never had Daisy and Armando cook, as it was just the two of us and we enjoy cooking when we can while on vacation. The guacamole he made was great, and lasted all week. Armando told us he'd been a cook in Cancum for 12 years, he still has a passion for cooking. All in all, a great trip. Super relaxing. We definitely want to go back, hopefully with more people! Casa Dena would be a great place for a bigger group, but is was unbelievable for the 2 of us. I highly recommend it! Again, thank you so much for renting your great casa. Please send Daisy and Armando our regards. We hope to stay in touch!
We were greeted when we arrived at Casa Dena by Armando. Exhausted from a long day of flying he made us feel welcomed and showed us around. He told us which restaurants were close by so we could have dinner. We were amazed by the care of Armando and Daisy, great cooks and helpful in every way. The location of the casa was great as so many activities are close by, that we did not have to drive far to have a great day of fun. Honestly some days we just relaxed and hung out. Steve was awesome at answering any questions we had and giving us information we needed. So many great restaurants from Ziggy's in Tulum, to Blue Sky and Chamico's right down the road. Food was incredible in Mexico, never had a bad meal. The casa had everything we needed, fresh towels and clean rooms every day thanks to Daisy and laundry when we needed it done. The service was top notch!! Spent some days in Akumal and Playa Del Carmen also one day at the ruins in Tulum, so much to do and a cenote right down thee street from the house .. You will be impressed. Thank you to Steve, Armando and Daisy. We had a blast....
My husband and I stayed at Casa Dene with two other couples, and we had never been to the Caribbean side of Mexico. The villa was lovely, private, clean, and comfortable with a great layout for three (or even four) couples. We liked that the beach directly in front wasn't swimmable since it kept our location private, and five minutes around the point was a fantastic beach so we swam each day. The caretakers were good to us, and due to food allergies we ate at the villa for most meals, and we felt their dinners were as good as any hotel, and better than the all-inclusives. Tankah is in a great location, with everything you need a short drive away, plus some good restaurants on the same road. The bumpy road to the villa was quite an adventure and we do hope that is fixed next time!
Our family of 3 adult couples loved staying at Casa Dena. Clean, beautiful and spacious. Right on the beach! The caretakers were wonderful and prepared breakfast for us every day. There is a crystal clear cenote down the road and the location is close to the ruins and Tulum. Didn't like theseriously potholed road that accessed the beach homes.
My family of 5 (3 sons aged 9, 13, 15) spent a week here over Easter. The house is great, very comfortable layout and nice beds and living space. It's very quiet and private which is what we wanted. The owner was great to work with - we rented only 2 bedrooms and it was ideal. The caretakers are lovely, and also wonderful cooks. The views and atmosphere were perfect. The only thing to keep in mind - which we were told - is that the immediate beach is not swimmable. Nice snorkeling and swimming about a 10 minute walk down the sand though. Overall, a fantastic holiday.
I have absolutely nothing but compliments for this rental -- grand home, incredible ocean-front location near Tulum, and peaceful, gated community. The caretakers, Daisy and Armando, are exceptional cooks; do not pass up their meals and be sure to try the pico and guacamole! Heaven! I would say that the only down side was the immediate beach area in front of the house -- NOT a swimming beach, but good for snorkeling. You can walk down a ways for decent swimming, or head into Tulum, Akumal or Playa for excellent swim beaches. Overall, I highly recommend Casa Dena!
We stayed at Casa Dena for an entire week. There were 4 adults and a two year old. The house was set up perfectly for a toddler! He played with the sand toys (provided at the house) and loved playing fetch with Lika!
The adults loved it too! We were delighted by the proximity to Tulum and had a great time exploring the area. In previous trips to Mexico, we stayed at resorts and never really felt like we saw any of Mexico or the culture. We ate at many of the restaurants recommended by Steve. On our first night, we ate at Blue Sky. We ordered a mixture of pizza, steak, and burgers. All were great and they even had a big screen TV set up for us to watch the Super Bowl! We also tried Casa Cenote (the Monterrey chicken sandwich was the favorite there)! La Zebra in Tulum was incredible! We had delicious fish tacos and quesadillas! We spent the day at the beach at La Zebra surfing the waves and making sand castles!
Most of our time was spend at the house! We made our coffee and watched the early morning sunrises with a beautiful view of Venus too! We also enjoyed morning searches for sea shells. Most afternoons were spent in the pool! The shallow end of the pool served as a great place for our two year old to swim around! The hammocks were great for evening relaxing! We also enjoyed watching the hermit crabs come out at night to wander the beach!
One of the highlights of the trip was Armando and Daisy. They were amazing! Armando cooked a traditional dish of pork ribs for us one night and we regretted not asking him to cook for us more! They always were available to set up massage appointments (which were incredible) or help us locate the nearest place to find replacement contacts (one of us lost ours in the ocean!).
The house was in the perfect location and we cannot wait to return!
