Perfect Napa Getaway

5 of 5
Submitted: April 17, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
My husband and I rented this studio for a getaway trip to Napa and loved every minute of it. The studio is very nice and has all of the up-to-date additions you could ask for. Every morning we ran through the vineyards right across the street from the studio which was breathtaking. The property is within close proximity to a lot of good wineries, restaurants and shopping areas. The beautiful gardens and outdoor living spaces around the property are a perfect place to have a glass of wine at sunset. However, like the previous reviews mentioned you do have to share the property with other guests in an adjacent cottage. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves until the last night but it made a big difference. Dona and John were wonderful host and if we needed anything they ran it right over. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a romantic, care free experience in the beautiful Napa Valley.

Great Napa Hideaway!

What a serene & beautiful piece of property! We stayed 4 nights with our 12 year old son and two dogs. The lap pool was amazing - warm, cared for, and perfect for our son. Got sun until about 4:00 p.m. so perfect amount to warm the water and take advantage of "tanning". Owners have put a lot of care into the grounds - beautiful array of plants & flowers. So many garden areas to explore. The guest house was a treat! Huge ceilings, windows galore creating a nice breezeway, cement floor (perfect for dogs), extra large, tiled shower, and the bed and sheets were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The added plus, the owners' artwork and photographs making the home one-of-a-kind. Not only were John & Dona courteous but great communicators, perfect for recommendations on food/wine, and knowledgeable about Napa. We were minutes away from a bike trail through grapevines which we took advantage of. Also located closely to the town of Napa. The only things I would want to know ahead of time with regard to this rental is that you may have to share the pool if there are others utilizing the 2nd guest house on the property and the house we stayed in is right on the road so you can hear vehicles. Good thing is this is a dead end road and not a lot of traffic. All in all, a magnificent place to stay that is centrally located to all Napa has to offer. Thank you John & Dona for letting us share this experience with you. We truly enjoyed our stay!
Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time. Please come back anytime.

The most unique Napa experience you can get

5 of 5
Submitted: August 24, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
Being an avid traveler, I'm most impressed when I happen about a unique experience, especially with a high tourist area like Napa Valley. The studio itself is unique with the artistic decor since the homeowners are professional photographers and artists and share their artwork on the walls of this loft, but the location and entire property itself is by far one of the most unique you will find in Napa.

The property is enormous with gorgeous landscaping that the owners clearly spend time perfecting. I can't describe the feeling you get when waking up and walking outside in the fresh, crisp air and staring at a vineyard that spans are far as the eye can see. I took a run down a private road that is lined with grapevines to the left and right and didn't have a car pass by me during my run.

The pool was perfect to cool down to in the hot summer day and the rose garden is one of the most romantic settings I have ever seen. perfect for eloping! (although I didn't elope!)

Now, the best part about staying here is how accommodating the hosts are. The owners are longtime locals of Napa Valley and can send you to wineries the general public never hear about. My favorite was the Artesa Winery which is just a quick 5-10 min drive from the property. Honestly, you are doing yourself a disservice if you choose to stay at a hotel.

Forget the resorts, stay here

We stayed for a total of four nights and enjoyed every minute of it.

The studio is perfectly located between Napa and Sonoma with easy access to all attractions. The suite is beautiful and spacious, everything is very tastefully appointed.

We took our dog and couldn't have asked for better accommodation. The garden is beautifully maintained and a treat to indulge in.

LOVED staying in the studio on the pear orchard!

We LOVED staying at the contemporary studio/farmhouse. It was our first vacation in a long time and all we wanted was privacy, and to sleep in as late as we possible without interruptions. We wanted to be comfortable, but also inspired, and the contemporary/artistic style of the studio and surrounding property was exactly what we were looking for. It was a big open loft space with a 19’ ceiling and a fabulous murphy bed that was the most comfortable I've slept in since the Four Seasons. Very Modern and cool.
The property is so big that I never saw the owners until we went looking for them to talk about their art and photography that I found decorating the walls.
Dona is an accomplished photographer with images in collections around the country. Most of the images I saw were beautiful wine country photos and portraits of local celebs like the Coppolas, Mondavis and Ray Manzarek from the Doors. She was so fun to talk with and open about selling her work at really great prices as we were interested in taking a piece of Napa Valley home. Her husband, John is an accomplished painter, and was preparing for an exhibit in San Francisco. He took us out to his rustic painting studio (100 year old converted shed) in the pear orchard, but couldn’t release any of the paintings as they were all slotted for the show next week at Andrea Schwartz Gallery in SF! World class art created in the middle of the Orchard at our vacation stay was hard to pass up. We might take a ride to the gallery and bring home a surprise souveneir for our walls because we now "know" the famous painter!

I loved this place and can't wait to come back again and again.

Thanks to Dona and John for creating the perfect tranquil getaway from my normally hectic life and re-inspiring me!
