This newly renovated early 20th century house (named Mistral) is located directly on historic Marblehead Harbor (modestly called “The Yachting Capital of the World”.) The truly spectacular views overlook the harbor with an ocean view northeast to Cape Ann and south to the entrance to Boston Harbor and beyond to Scituate and the South Shore. The house is within easy walking distance to the downtown shopping area, beach and the historic district.
It has wireless high speed internet access and satellite HDTV and a telephone service which allows free calls within the US and very inexpensive worldwide calls.
It also has a seasonal dock with kayaks & a sailboat.
No rentals less than one week (firm).
Dock and the local area: A seasonal dock on the harbor with kayaks is available for use. A spacious sandy beach is within easy walking distance. The Town itself is a virtual museum. In the Historic District most of the houses date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and they project the essence of the Town. There are a number of great restaurants, art galleries, coffee cafes and historical sights. Salem, the 'Witch City,' is the next town over and also has many interesting places to visit including the House of Seven Gables and the Peabody Museum, which is one of the best Maritime Museums in the world.
If you wish to visit Boston it's a 1/2 - 1 hour drive. But there are also alternative modes of travel such as the Ferry from Salem to downtown Boston which is an interesting trip, the train from Salem, bus service from Marblehead or a short drive to the MBTA subway service.
The Harbor: The center of activity revolves around the beautiful Harbor. There are six very active Yacht Clubs and in the summer there are over 1,500 boats in the Harbor. There are sailboat races five days a week. Some of the best racing sailors in the world have grown up in Marblehead. During the summer, in July, there is a special racing event named Marblehead Race Week and sailors from all over the East Coast come to participate. it is often said, only partly in jest, that during Race Week one could walk across the Harbor from boat to boat.
From your rental house you will be able to see some very spectacular sunrises as it comes up over Marblehead Neck directly opposite the house.
It's a very enchanting place to visit and live.
Maximum number of people: The house has four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, two of the guest bedrooms have queen size beds and the fourth bedroom has over and under bunk beds.
The maximum number of people allowed is six adults and two children.
Linda and Dan are retired and live in the house next to the rental property. they love to travel and sail. Their world revolves around the Ocean and their houses reflect this. The houses are directly on the water with a dock and they have a number of boats large and small.
Dan Sullivan purchased this house in 2007
The rental house and their own home are directly on Marblehead Harbor with spectacular views, not only of the Harbor but, in addition, of both the North and South Shores of Massachusetts. Dan lived in Marblehead summers as a child and fell in love with the town. He came back to Marblehead after finishing graduate school and started a company on the North Shore. He met and married Linda who had also fallen in love with the town and had just moved there from the south shore. The houses immediately attracted them because of their views and their access to the harbor and sailing.
Property was in PERFECT condition, owners were on site and reviewed operation and use of the property. Location was excellent, private, quiet, yet close to town (walk). HIGHLY recommend this property to others. Beautiful view of the harbor and ocean.
