Overview

Beaufort House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 8)

BeaufortHouse is on North River with plenty of room - away from the town yet close enough (about 3 miles) to enjoy what beautiful Beaufort has to offer. Large family room looks out on the water, eat-in kitchen and separate dining room which seats 8-10.. Curl up in the recliner in the living room to enjoy a book, away from the gang, or sit out on the screened porch and enjoy the waterfowl and perhaps even dolphin playing in North River. Watch the beacon of the Cape Lookout lighthouse across the river. Bring your lawn games to enjoy, or take a stroll through the neighborhood. Lots of fun things to do in the area and when you tire, come back to a comfortable home, enjoy an outdoor shower, serve yourself a cool drink, put on some music and prop up your feet. Beaufort House is a great place to make memories! A huge tree limb crashed into BeaufortHouse on July 3, 2014 and the renovation was just completed at the end of September - so it is like a new house

for those of you who booked the last three months of 2014.

Why Kathy King chose Beaufort

My wife and I had travelled up and down the coast of the two Carolinas for years looking for just the right town. When we spent our first weekend in Beaufort, we knew that we had found our ideal place to have a home. The town was quaint, charming and the locals were friendly. We loved the fresh seafood and the many small coastal villages nearby. Cross the bridge to Morehead City and all the shopping that one could need such as a Wal-Mart supercenter and a new Lowe's home improvement center along with doctors and a hospital are just minutes away. We live near Charlotte and it is long drive but worth it when we get there. All of our family calls it 'Getting the Beaufort lazies'. It is a little less than an hour from the New Bern airport which has flights connecting to Raleigh and Charlotte. If you are looking for place to stay which feels like a home rather than some cookie cutter furnished condo, look no further. This is our home away from home and is filled with the things that makes it feel like our home such as furniure and antiques from our parents. The kithen is my domain and expect to find just about everything that a good cook would want. Our yard faces North River which is a huge bay which leads to the ocean. Stand at the water and you can see Cape Lookout lighthouse. You can fish from the seawall at high tide or call NC Marine Fisheries Dept. to find out where on the river you can dig for clam and oysters at low tide.

What makes this house unique

Relaxing. Enjoying nature. When we want to ride to the Beaufort waterfront for drinks and a nice meal with friends, we call our 'D.D.' (a taxi) and for just a few dollars we are driven home safely. Away from the hustle and busy streets of town yet only a few minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I wanted to thank you for sharing your home and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. Your location was perfect for us as we were traveling the area from Cedar Island to Merrimon to Harkers Island with our realtor some of the time. Such a central location for house hunting and yet wth a quiet setting and beautiful view!! Of course, not without drama as my son cut his foot on an oyster shell on our 3rd day there after all of your warnings. But he had recently had a tetanus shot and we quickly doctored the cuts and now they look quite good. Anyway it was hard to leave and I wish that we could have stayed longer. Maybe next time we will stay longer than one week and I would love to rent with you again (even though our realtor was put off that we didn't rent from her) if you will have us. Thank you again and please feel free to email me anytime if the status of your rental changes.

Beaufort House as pleasant as advertised at Shell Landing

  • 5 of 5

The highest compliment we can provide you about our six night stay in your home in Beaufort is that we would come back again. We really liked your house and the setting and the location. We had a very comfortable vacation in your home. Very quiet, very restful, very convenient, very pleasant. We even saw dolphins on Thursday morning — just as advertised! Our 88 year old mothers enjoyed their stay as much as my wife and I did. The two steps up into the front door were no problem for either of them even though they both have some significant mobility issues. We put my mom in the bedroom with the TV and the walk-in shower. It was perfect for her. My wife's mom took the bedroom next to the hall bathroom also with a walk-in shower. That room was perfect for her. My wife and I (in our mid-60s) took the bedroom with the view to the east over the North River. What a great view in the early morning! The half bath in this room is a great amenity as well. We worked many jigsaw puzzles on your dining room table. It was great to have a place to leave an unfinished puzzle and return to it from time to time. My wife and I got hooked on doing the puzzles, but would always leave a handful of pieces for the two moms to finish each morning. Your televisions worked well during our entire visit and we really appreciated the full complement of satellite/cable offerings. The Internet and Wi-Fi were fine also. The heat and AC also worked perfectly. The kitchen and oak table nearby were just right for the four of us for breakfast and supper. (We enjoyed several area cafés for our lunches.) The broiler setting for your oven worked superbly for the fresh asparagus we picked up at the Saturday morning Farmer's Market in Beaufort and the fresh flounder we got at Fishtowne Seafood market close to your house. Again, we had a lovely time and we're glad we chose your home as a vacation rental. Your caretaker/manager left us a very instructive welcome note. We didn't need to contact her for anything during our stay. Nice to know, though, that she was right across the street if we had needed her assistance. Congratulations on a five-star rental home.

Four good friends

  • 5 of 5

The house was all we expected and more. Sunrises are spectacular. Beauford is a very special place. Lots of history, great restaurants, fun shopping, water tours, and even a London double decker bus! Our little dog had a good time making friends with the dog next door. We even took a ride to New Bern to visit the Tryon Palce. We had a very busy, very good week.

lovely beaufort property

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The location right on the water is great. The cleanliness was acceptable considering the recent construction ( a couple nails were on the ground). I did put in a suggestion to check the oven that did not seem to heat well. Kathy was very helpful with every communication and I have no doubt she will take care of any need.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We were under reconstruction for 3 months due to hurricane damage on July 3rd. I apologize for the nails left on the grounds and glad no one was hurt by them. We hope you will visit BeaufortHouse again. Kathy ps the oven has been repaired! :)

Quiet neighborhood, beautiful location!

The Beaufort House had everything we needed! It is well appointed and served as a spacious retreat for eight. If I need to rent in the area again, I will look here first. Kathy was a pleasure to work with.

Looking for an excuse to return

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks. It is peaceful and quiet - my wife said that she was sleeping better than she had in years.

The house is exceptionally well equipped, especially the kitchen, and comfortably furnished.

We ate our breakfasts basking in the morning sun on the screened porch. The owners and their local manager, a neighbour, were very responsive and helpful. A car is essential - it is more than a mile to the nearest food store. With a car it is only a few minutes to the centre of Beaufort where there are several restaurants, lots of shops, an amazing Maritime Museum and efficient passenger ferry services to Shackleford Banks and the Rachel Carson Nature Sanctuary. Going the other way it is about 30 minutes to the far end of Harkers Island with the ferry to Cape Lookout.

We had two kayaks delivered to the house and went paddling in North River most days. The water in front of the house is only ankle-deep at low tide and just over knee deep at high tide.

We really enjoyed both the house and the area and will be looking for an excuse to return.
