SPECTACULAR SUNRISES OVER THE WATER OF NORTH RIVER

Beaufort House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 8)

BeaufortHouse is on North River with plenty of room - away from the town yet close enough (about 3 miles) to enjoy what beautiful Beaufort has to offer. Large family room looks out on the water, eat-in kitchen and separate dining room which seats 8-10.. Curl up in the recliner in the living room to enjoy a book, away from the gang, or sit out on the screened porch and enjoy the waterfowl and perhaps even dolphin playing in North River. Watch the beacon of the Cape Lookout lighthouse across the river. Bring your lawn games to enjoy, or take a stroll through the neighborhood. Lots of fun things to do in the area and when you tire, come back to a comfortable home, enjoy an outdoor shower, serve yourself a cool drink, put on some music and prop up your feet. Beaufort House is a great place to make memories!

I wanted to thank you for sharing your home and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. Your location was perfect for us as we were traveling the area from Cedar Island to Merrimon to Harkers Island with our realtor some of the time. Such a central location for house hunting and yet wth a quiet setting and beautiful view!! Of course, not without drama as my son cut his foot on an oyster shell on our 3rd day there after all of your warnings. But he had recently had a tetanus shot and we quickly doctored the cuts and now they look quite good. Anyway it was hard to leave and I wish that we could have stayed longer. Maybe next time we will stay longer than one week and I would love to rent with you again (even though our realtor was put off that we didn't rent from her) if you will have us. Thank you again and please feel free to email me anytime if the status of your rental changes.

My wife and I had travelled up and down the coast of the two Carolinas for years looking for just the right town. When we spent our first weekend in Beaufort, we knew that we had found our ideal place to have a home. The town was quaint, charming and the locals were friendly. We loved the fresh seafood and the many small coastal villages nearby. Cross the bridge to Morehead City and all the shopping that one could need such as a Wal-Mart supercenter and a new Lowe's home improvement center along with doctors and a hospital are just minutes away. We live near Charlotte and it is long drive but worth it when we get there. All of our family calls it 'Getting the Beaufort lazies'. It is a little less than an hour from the New Bern airport which has flights connecting to Raleigh and Charlotte. If you are looking for place to stay which feels like a home rather than some cookie cutter furnished condo, look no further. This is our home away from home and is filled with the things that makes it feel like our home such as furniure and antiques from our parents. The kithen is my domain and expect to find just about everything that a good cook would want. Our yard faces North River which is a huge bay which leads to the ocean. Stand at the water and you can see Cape Lookout lighthouse. You can fish from the seawall at high tide or call NC Marine Fisheries Dept. to find out where on the river you can dig for clam and oysters at low tide.

Relaxing. Enjoying nature. When we want to ride to the Beaufort waterfront for drinks and a nice meal with friends, we call our 'D.D.' (a taxi) and for just a few dollars we are driven home

safely. Away from the hustle and busy streets of town yet only a few minutes away.

QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD, BEAUTIFUL LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
The Beaufort House had everything we needed! It is well appointed and served as a spacious retreat for eight. If I need to rent in the area again, I will look here first. Kathy was a pleasure to work with.

LOOKING FOR AN EXCUSE TO RETURN

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here for two weeks. It is peaceful and quiet - my wife said that she was sleeping better than she had in years.
The house is exceptionally well equipped, especially the kitchen, and comfortably furnished.
We ate our breakfasts basking in the morning sun on the screened porch. The owners and their local manager, a neighbour, were very responsive and helpful. A car is essential - it is more than a mile to the nearest food store. With a car it is only a few minutes to the centre of Beaufort where there are several restaurants, lots of shops, an amazing Maritime Museum and efficient passenger ferry services to Shackleford Banks and the Rachel Carson Nature Sanctuary. Going the other way it is about 30 minutes to the far end of Harkers Island with the ferry to Cape Lookout.
We had two kayaks delivered to the house and went paddling in North River most days. The water in front of the house is only ankle-deep at low tide and just over knee deep at high tide.
We really enjoyed both the house and the area and will be looking for an excuse to return.

GREAT COTTAGE NEAR BEAUFORT

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the Beaufort House for a few days in April 2014. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and in a good location . . convenient to the Beaufort waterfront and historic district . . and also to Harker's Island. Being right on the North River, the cottage had beautiful waterfront views . . and a nice little quiet neighborhood good for walking my dog.
Made a trip over to Cape Lookout from the ferry at the National Park Service Visitor Center on Harker's Island which was thoroughly enjoyable. Had some great seafood . . I recommend Beaufort Grocery, Old Salt and Amos Mosquito's . . and the Beaufort Cafe was excellent for breakfast. If you go to Old Salt, be sure to have the Beaufort Butter Cake for dessert . .
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beaufort House and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable cottage convenient to all the attractions and amenities the area has to offer.

GREAT TIME HAD BY US!

  • 5 of 5
The Beaufort House was LOVELY! The rooms were clean, well maintained and accurately described with the pictures. The house is located right on the river - the back of the house faces the east and we coud see beautiful sunrises. While we were there we also had a chance to see the full moon over the river. Since it was rather cool for the time of year we were there, we needed some propane for the heater. After contacting the owner, the issue was fixed in a very short time - but there was a backup heat pump that kept us warm so we never had a problem. I would HIGHLY recommend Beaufort House to friends, relatives - anyone who wants a quiet vacation house, on a river that's soothing and makes one feel relaxed. We had 2 pugs with us and even they enjoyed romping in the yard. The house is spacious and can easily fit a large family. We stayed for 4 weeks enjoying the large screen television, screened in porch, and the spacious living areas. Beaufort is a quant village right on the river with shops and restaurants for every kind of palate. We enjoyed walking past the anchored boats and seeing the differnt types of vessels. Some of the things we did - went on a ferry ride to see the horses, visited the Aquarium - which is a must see for the area. We took our pups to Radio Island to walk in the water and in the summer, I imagine, it would be a good place to swim. Not too far from the house is a long fishing pier and boat launch. We ate at Clawsons Restaurant, Cox's Restaurant, and the Amos Mosquito's. All had delicious food and worth returning to. Food Lion and Piggly Wiggly are the 2 main grocery stores, and of course there were chain eateries on Route 70. In summary, we enjoyed the house and area, worked well with the owners, and would go back in a heart beat during for a summer vacation!

GREAT WEEK!!

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I met at the Beaufort House for a weeks stay. She is from Virginia and I from Piedmont NC. This was a great place to stay, the house had everything we needed and was clean and inviting. The view can't be beat (back yard), sun risings were awesome! Two days we got to see dolphins in the back yard (water)...amazing! My friend brought her kayak and had an easy access to the river.. She said the water afforded serene sunrise paddles, in company with water fowl and even dolphins one day. We ejoyed exploring Beaufort and the surrounding areas, Island Ferry to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse was great. Thanks Kathy for sharing this great home with others and thanks to Nancy too.

PERFECT LOCATIUON

  • 4 of 5
Beaufort House was the perfect location to re-connect with our son after his return from deployment. Plenty of space for our group of 5 adults to be together, even in the kitchen. The house is also an easy drive to the air station, the beach, stores and restaurants. Whether you are looking for peace and quiet or just a comfortable place to sleep after a busy day, Beaufort House will be perfect.
