Leeward Cottage belonged to just two families during its first two centuries. Still retaining its original Cape Cod summer house character and charm, including antique furnishings, period architectural details, original Provincetown art, painted wide-board floors, cafe curtains with cottonball fringe, and an outdoor shower, the present owner has added a new well-equipped upscale kitchen, plus two new Kohler-fixtured bathrooms. The house includes four double bedrooms plus an additional single bed. Situated on a roomy protected lot set back on Bradford Street in the middle East End, with a white picket fence, weeping willow out front, and perennial gardens all around, this unique historic house is one short block from the Provincetown harbor beach, and within an easy 15-minute walk of the town center.

  • Off the dining room is a new downstairs bathroom, all in beadboard, with period appropriate tiled floor, large custom-built corner vanity with marble top, a glass-enclosed subway-tiled shower, and a comfort height toilet, with Kohler fixtures in polished nickel. Upstairs, off a hallway which runs between the front and back stairs, is a second full bath. It includes the original clawfooted tub with new hand held shower array, Shaker-style vanity and sink with Kohler polished nickel fixtures, a newly-created subway-tiled shower with steam unit and built-in bench seat for one person, and a comfort height Kohler toilet. There is a stool to accommodate a snug second person in the steam shower if desired. Just outside the upstairs bathroom is a new front-loading washer and propane gas clothes dryer.

  • The queen-bedded room downstairs with a new brass bed was formerly a second parlor. It has one door opening into the little-used front hallway, and a second to the dining room. Off the living room is a small rear-facing room found in many Cape-style houses of this era called the 'birthing room.' Protected from nearly all sounds inside and out, this very quiet room has a comfortable bed on a Hollywood frame. The three upstairs bedrooms are about equal in size. All have painted brass-and-iron double beds with new mattresses. One room also has a single roll-away bed with new mattress. All the bedrooms are completely separated from one another, so there's no issue with privacy. The house can be fully occupied and everyone will still feel they have their own space.

Two outside outlets can provide power to your laptop in a lawn chair. Internet phone service with unlimited USA calling, separate fax number.. Cable service includes all Boston and Providence commercial and public channels, plus expanded digital package. Tandem parking for two cars on the property, on-street parking available very close by.

Kitchen: The recently updated kitchen has white beadboard cupboards with soapstone countertops, a stainless steel professional-type five-burner gas stove with gas oven and warming drawer, an extra-quiet stainless steel dishwasher, recessed stainless steel refrigerator with ice maker, filtered ice water dispenser, and freezer. There is also a new stainless steel microwave oven. A sound system is connected to built-in speakers in the kitchen, dining room and upstairs bathroom, with AM/FM tuner, Sirius satellite radio, five-disc CD player, and a dual cassette tape player. The kitchen includes a 27-inch television with digital cable, DVD/VCR player, and auxiliary speaker system.

Dining : A 48-inch square dining room table seats four people generously. Add two leaves and you can seat eight. Blue Willow dinnerware and a wide choice of wine, beer and drinking glasses and coffee mugs are provided, plus a drawer full of silverplate cutlery, and a large drawer full of every other utensil you are likely to need. There are brand new non-stick pots and pans, and like-new aluminum ones, together with various serving pieces. In the morning doors which open onto either side of the property allow you to enjoy the sun, songbirds and garden views along with your breakfast. In the evening a gas grill is available on the patio just outside.
