A Wonderful place in the Berkshires

My wife and I came up here from New York, just after Hurricane Sandy, and booked for a well-needed one month respite. It has been a wonderful experience for us, and Sabine's little apartment has been terrific. It is clean and quiet, private, very tastefully decorated and has real charm, with lovely wooden floors throughout. The amenities are very well thought out too, with a great washer and dryer in the hallway, microwave, toaster oven and 2 burner stove in the kitchen. Sabine even supplies washing soaps, dryer sheets, shampoo, dish soap, etc. There is a really strong wifi signal in the bedroom, for those who need to stay in touch during their stay (it is not so strong in the other room). The bathroom is very nicely decorated, nothing fancy but clean and efficient. Good lighting all throughout the house, which is important to me. She also supplies books and videos on her shelves that are quite good.
The area surrounding the house is very nice too, beautifully pastoral/rural with nice walking options. Stockbridge is a very short 3 miles from the house, and the Norman Rockwell museum is a short walk up the road. Lenox is about 10 minutes to the north and Great Barrington is about 10 minutes to the south. Just driving around and exploring the nearby back roads is well worth it. The amazing Berkshire Bakery is about 7 minutes away and is a must when you are here ... in fact, you may end up there every day like we have. The Brick House Pub is also a wonderful place to have a beer, some great food, and watch the Sunday football games.
As for Sabine herself, she is a delightful woman and a very talented artist with abundant knowledge about the local area (restaurants, museums, hikes, etc.). She doesn't interfere with your stay in any way, but is very accommodating when or if she is needed. When you arrive she gives you a scrapbook she has put together with tips on where to dine, shop, hike, etc. Very nice touch.
If pressed to name any drawbacks, all I can think of is that the ceilings are low along the sides of the kitchen area, and in the doorways. Since I am 1.85 m tall I hit my head a few times (my wife had no such problems, I should add, and blames it on my own clumsiness!). The kitchen is small, but very efficient and we were able to fully function with cooking and having a normal home life.
I would absolutely recommend this place to others, and in fact I already have.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful report. I sure hope you will be back. And we need to have tea before you leave.
