Cristina’s is located on seven miles of sandy on Saco Bay, the largest sand beach in Maine. This includes Camp Ellis Beach, Ferry Beach, Bay view, and Kinney Shores. Camp Ellis has its own restaurants, family oriented general store, shops, and the best off-shore fishing in Maine. A working fishing village, once here at Cristina’s there is no reason to leave. Camp Ellis Beach is mid-way between Kittery and Freeport, home to L.L. Bean’s, and outlet shopping. By car or train, Camp Ellis Beach is less than two hours from Boston.
Theme Parks:
The Funtown and Aquaboggin theme parks, located in Saco, are minutes away as are supermarkets and minimarts. Old Orchard Beach, just 3.5 miles north of Camp Ellis, has amusements, restaurants, and gift shops. Ferry Beach State Park, a Rachael Carson Preserve, the Scarborough Marsh, and the East Point Sanctuary at Biddeford Pool are just three of the hiking and birding areas available; the Wood Island Light House is a short boat-ride away. The Portland Headlight in Cape Elizabeth, commissioned by George Washington in 1791 and the most photographed lighthouse in the world, is an easy ride up the coast.
The Area:
Twenty minutes north is Portland’s Historical Old Port with its seafood restaurants, gift shops, cobble stone streets, and multiple micro breweries. Ferries to the islands in Casco Bay are readily available. Portland is also home to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Victorian Mansion, the Portland Observatory built in 1807, and one of the best art Museums in America, the Portland Museum of Art. The Portland Children’s Museum is next door.
Twenty minutes south is Kennebunkport, with its shops and restaurants.
